Chapter 17 - Chapter 017: Just a Small Favor, No Need to Thank Me (4/5)

At this moment, Eula's shame and fury finally overwhelmed her reason.

Even though her entire body was wracked with pain, she still forced herself to raise her fair, slender hand.

A slap came swinging toward Lin Mo's face.

But just as her palm was about to land on his cheek—

A piercing pain shot through her arm, robbing it of all strength.

What should have been a forceful slap…

Turned into—

A gentle touch.

The air fell silent.

Lin Mo widened his eyes and softly caught the hand brushing against his cheek.

"Bandaging wounds isn't troublesome," he said calmly.

"It's just a small favor."

"You… don't need to thank me."

Not troublesome at all.

In fact, it was downright enjoyable—being able to admire such a perfectly sculpted figure up close.

Forget once. Lin Mo wouldn't mind bandaging Eula a hundred times.

"I—I didn't thank you!" Eula snapped.

She tried to pull her hand back, but she had no strength left at all.

"You shameless man! Let go of my hand!"

"Alright, alright~" Lin Mo replied easily.

"Then you get some proper rest. The roast will be ready soon. Just wait a bit."

After releasing her hand, he returned to the campfire and focused once more on the whole boar roasting over the flames.

"Hmph!"

Eula snorted coldly.

"I'll remember this grudge!"

Her eyes were filled with humiliation and resentment.

Only after Lin Mo left the tent did she finally have time to examine her injuries.

That was when she realized—

She was badly hurt.

More than a dozen arrow wounds covered her body, all inflicted by hilichurl archers.

The deepest one was so severe that the wound nearly reached the bone.

Fortunately, the bleeding had been stopped and bandaged in time.

Otherwise, she might not have made it out of Dragonspine alive.

And even if she had, untreated wounds would have left behind ugly scars.

It wasn't just arrow wounds.

Her shoulders and arms bore several large, dark bruises as well.

Only then did she remember—these were injuries from her battle with the Frostarm Lawachurl.

The bones beneath those bruises throbbed with pain.

Based on her experience in the wild, she knew that beneath the bruised skin, the bones were likely lightly fractured.

Yet now, those injuries had been carefully wrapped with bandages, treated with bone-healing medicine, and even covered with warm towels.

That was why, when she woke up, she hadn't immediately been overwhelmed by the pain from her injuries.

"Did he… do all of this by himself…?"

"So considerate…"

Eula found it hard to believe.

Because of the name "Lawrence,"

even when she was injured, no doctor would ever treat her.

She had endured all her pain alone.

At most, she would apply some basic bandages herself.

From childhood until now, this was the first time anyone had ever taken such meticulous care of her.

But the very next moment—

A trace of resentment surfaced in her eyes again.

A faint blush spread across her pale cheeks.

"Hmph… if it weren't for him, I wouldn't have been hurt this badly…"

"And besides… he even… even saw everything…"

"Even if it was for bandaging, that's still not allowed!"

"If this ever got out, how would I ever get married…"

Yet as soon as that thought appeared—

Her gaze dimmed.

Mondstadt was no longer an era where people competed to flatter the Lawrence clan.

In this age, the Lawrence family had become something everyone despised—like rats in the street.

Who would ever want to marry a woman from the Lawrence family?

Though she had reached the age where a girl yearned for love,

For her, love and marriage were luxuries she shouldn't even dare to dream of.

Lin Mo had no idea that Eula's emotions inside the tent had shifted from shame to quiet sorrow.

He was fully focused on preparing the wild boar he had hunted in the mountains.

He remembered Xiangling once saying that this kind of boar was a species thought to be extinct, with exceptionally delicious meat.

Soon enough, Lin Mo finished seasoning the meat, placed it neatly on a clean stone plate, and carried it into the tent.

"Here, try some of the roast."

"This is the best cut—the leg meat."

He smiled as he offered the plate to Eula.

But she turned her head away, clearly unwilling to accept his kindness.

"How can you not eat?" Lin Mo said, troubled.

"You've exhausted yourself and you're covered in injuries. If you don't replenish your strength, how are you going to recover—and get revenge on me?"

"Forget revenge."

"If I decided to get handsy with you while you sleep tonight, you probably wouldn't even have the strength to resist."

When he said the last part, the corner of his mouth curved into a deliberately suggestive smile.

"I—I'll eat!"

Eula didn't hesitate at all.

She took the plate and the knife and fork resting on it, carefully tasting the steaming roast pork.

"It's… it's delicious…"

A flash of surprise passed through her eyes.

This was the best roasted pork she had ever eaten in her life.

"Good, right?" Lin Mo said smugly.

"I learned this from a master chef at Wanmin Restaurant in Liyue—I met her while I was looking for you."

"While… looking for me?"

Those words instantly made Eula's eyes sharpen with alertness.
