Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

Chapter 29

The next morning, Jepack collapsed onto his familiar deck chair, dark circles under his eyes, looking noticeably thinner.

"This can't keep going on… One night and I'm already struggling. What about later?!"

"Right—I remember there was something good in the basic items! Which slot was it in…?"

"Check system storage."

"Found it!"

"Premium Liu Wei Di Huang Wan! – One pill stronger than six!"

Relief washed over him. Instant comfort.

This stuff really works. After swallowing one pill, Jepack's face immediately regained its healthy glow.

"This is leagues better than some shady brands back home. As expected from the system."

Jepack felt deep gratitude. In his previous life, obsessed with gaming and anime, he'd stayed up countless nights, leaving his body severely depleted.

He'd been a heavy consumer of every kidney supplement on the market—none had ever worked this fast.

Humming a little tune, Jepack felt satisfied, already looking forward to more lottery draws after the system update!

Exhausted from working all night on the deck chair, he started to doze off—when he suddenly sensed someone slowly approaching the Ten'en. His eyes snapped open, looking toward a small boat on the sea.

"It's Sanji. What's he doing here?"

Jepack rubbed his stubbly chin, puzzled.

Then he clapped once—Why overthink it? I'll just ask him.

He shouted toward the sea:

"Sanji! Over here!"

The small boat slowly stopped directly below the Ten'en. Sanji secured it and immediately leaped onto the deck.

Jepack lay back in his chair, half-lidding his eyes and grinning mischievously at Sanji.

"Little blond chef—missing me already? Came all this way just to say goodbye?"

"Cut it out. After you left yesterday, a group of Navy came to Baratie looking for you three! I'm here to tell you to get out—fast!"

"Navy? Because of that rat-faced guy from yesterday?"

"Yeah. They didn't return to their unit, so someone must have reported to higher-ups."

"Higher-ups? So yesterday's visitor was high-ranking?"

"Seems like a Vice Admiral. Pretty calm temperament, actually."

"Vice Admiral?!!! For a piece of trash like that, they sent a Vice Admiral? Vice Admirals almost never show up in the East Blue. Why would the Navy mobilize one?"

Jepack's mind raced with questions. A Vice Admiral would make sense if it was Garp checking on Luffy, but Luffy hadn't even set sail yet. A Vice Admiral was odd—unless that rat-face had serious connections?

"Right—I remember their ship had a dog-head figurehead. And yesterday I saw another high-ranking officer on board. Looked like he likes sleeping on deck chairs just like you!"

Sanji finally provided the crucial detail at the perfect moment.

"Then it's confirmed—that's Garp, the old man. Looks like we need to get moving fast. At this stage, I can't beat that geezer. But with all three types of Haki, I can hold my own long enough to run. Just need to worry about Guina and Nami!"

Jepack thought silently.

"I came to warn you—get out now. So many people on Baratie yesterday saw the three of you. Even if they don't know your names yet, Navy intelligence will track you down quickly!"

"You're right. Thanks for risking it to warn us. I owe you one, friend. If a green-haired guy with three swords ever gives you trouble, just drop my name—it'll work wonders!"

Jepack said gratefully, then silently added in his mind:

Though I wonder if you two will fight even harder in the future… I'd love to see a green-yellow CP clash!

Sanji: "Green-haired? Green-hat? Anyway—aren't you going to wake the girls and set sail already?"

"Relax~ Relax~ We'll leave as soon as Nami and Guina wake up!"

"It's already this late and you're still lying here? Fine—I'll go wake them myself!"

Sanji started slowly walking toward the girls' rooms.

Shua—Thud!

A loud sound made Sanji jump. He looked down—Ten'en's sword was embedded in the deck right in front of his big toe.

He froze instantly and turned to curse at Jepack.

"You bastard! Trying to kill me?!"

His legs were still trembling as he shouted.

"If you take one or two more steps forward, I think your leg might break. Not sure if you feel the same way, though!"

Jepack rubbed his stubble, speaking calmly.

"You… you have no humanity! I risked my life coming here early in the morning to warn you, and you threaten me? You're inhuman! Inhuman!"

"Stop yelling. If you wake the girls and they didn't sleep well, I won't be able to protect you. Think about Guina's strength yesterday—you sure you want to die? Just sit down and wait. The Navy won't get here anytime soon!"

Hearing that, Sanji remembered Guina's swift moves from yesterday, shivered, and his legs still trembling slightly, sat in the deck chair next to Jepack.

"Want a drink?"

Jepack pulled out a can of premium lager he hadn't touched in days.

Sanji looked curiously at the metal can: "What's this?"

"Beer. Want some?" Jepack tossed the can up and down playfully.

"Beer? Let me try—this type I've never heard of!"

He snatched it from Jepack, popped the tab, and took a sip. His eyes immediately lit up.

This is good. Is it sold in the East Blue? Can you give me the address? I'll have someone buy some.

Jepack took a sip and replied: "This is my exclusive secret recipe. You think you can just buy it somewhere? Too greedy. It's not for sale—drink as many as you want while you're here."

"So stingy?" Sanji gave him an extremely disdainful look.

Jepack: "It's not stinginess. This beer only exists here. Nowhere else sells it."

"Stingy is stingy—give me a few more cans!"

Jepack casually tossed him an entire case: "Drink slowly. We're setting sail soon—once we leave, you won't get any more."
