Chapter 86 - Chapter 86: Rios: I Have No Mora, Only Primogems

What Mu Yang meant by "sending Primogems" was that the game was about to launch a new event.

Every version of Genshin Impact, after a bit, would kick off little events with quests that rewarded Primogems.

The events were usually chill mini-games—easy to play, no sweat, and some were super popular with players.

When Mu Yang spotted the left-side quest prompt, he noted it was to take the character to the Stadium of the Sacred Flame to meet the Pyro Archon.

Meaning, only after meeting the Pyro Archon could the version's mini-game event unlock.

"Speaking of which, what's the 5.0 game event again?" Mu Yang furrowed his brows in thought, realizing that while he'd watched the preview livestream, he had barely any memory of it now.

After all, preview livestreams usually aired the Friday after the second banner patch, a full ten-plus days from the next version launch—forgetting was totally normal.

[Mu Yang's getting old, huh?]

[Can't even remember version event quests.]

[Shouldn't be called Xiao Mu anymore, call him Lao Mu.]

[Maybe it's from whale-ing too hard.]

[Whale-ing's fine, just wait for the Ritual Spear refresh.]

Seeing Mu Yang forget even this version's event, the fans fired off barrage comments roasting him.

"Why bother remembering Genshin's event quests so clearly?" Mu Yang said with a grin as he pulled up the map. "Gonna play 'em anyway—knowing ahead or now, what's the diff?"

"You gonna plan your Primogems around next version's events or what?"

After patting himself on the back for his bad memory, Mu Yang's controlled character reached the Stadium of the Sacred Flame's teleport waypoint, then entered the council chamber to meet Natlan's two suns.

"Traveler, Paimon, you've arrived."

Noticing someone enter, Mavuika turned around, greeting them warmly.

"We heard you had something for us, so the Traveler and I came right away," Paimon said with a gentle smile.

"Did something happen?" Lumine asked, sounding a bit worried.

From their last chat, she knew the Abyss invasion wasn't over—the Abyss might be gathering strength right now, prepping for a full assault on Natlan.

Now, Natlan's two big shots were in the council chamber and had summoned her—must be to discuss something super serious, probably Abyss-related.

However.

"It's not a big deal," Mavuika said with a light chuckle. "Natlan's warriors recently swapped some gear, and they've got a bunch more defense-tower-like setups now."

"So we figured, since the weapons changed, our combat tactics need tweaking too."

"Rios thought the Traveler's roamed the stars and seen it all—maybe you could give us some solid advice—so we sent for you."

Mavuika explained.

"Oh, that's it."

Paimon got it—quests for the Traveler incoming.

"You probably still remember those two guys, Tepetlpan and Tamuyin—"

After the red-haired woman finished, Rios chimed in.

But after he said one sentence, the Traveler and her little sidekick looked baffled.

"Who are these two?" Paimon scratched her head awkwardly, a bit embarrassed. "We don't think we've ever heard those names."

"Tepetlpan and Tamuyin are the ones who slandered Kaiulani before," Mavuika said, grinning wide. "You haven't forgotten how Rios thrashed them in the arena, right?"

"Oh, them!" Little Paimon suddenly got it.

Then, she spread her hands in confusion: "What do these two have to do with what the Pyro Archon wants to talk about?"

"Just an example," Rios said with a smile. "Because Natlan's ley lines are special, our way of fighting Abyss monsters relies on the Nightwardens' Procession and the Night Warden Wars—this bred Natlan's warlike nature; most folks can pick up a weapon and fight."

"But it's exactly the Nightwardens' Procession's influence that makes Natlan troops way looser on discipline than other nations' armies."

"Like the Tepetlpan and Tamuyin I just mentioned—they call themselves warriors, but they're probably worlds apart from the soldiers you've seen in other countries, right?" Rios asked.

"Kinda... yeah."

Paimon recalled Liyue's Millelith—even if she occasionally ran into soldiers whose stomachs were always growling, they'd still do their jobs properly in that state, and they sure wouldn't badmouth fallen comrades.

"Definitely way more lax than other countries' military," Lumine got it quick.

After all, under the Nightwardens' Procession's sway, every Natlan tribe trained warriors for the contests.

Sure, it was all for homeland defense, but compared to proper armies, they differed in tons of ways.

"You called us over to help drill your warriors?" the Traveler asked.

"And to optimize the combat setups," Rios said. "Come take a look and you'll see."

"Um, Lord Pyro Archon,"

Before heading over, Paimon said a bit sheepishly: "If we can help out, could you maybe give us some Mora as payment?"

Little money-grubber.

Hearing Paimon, Lumine rolled her eyes cutely.

He's a ruler of a nation, after all—how could he be short on Mora?

Not every Archon was a broke duo like Venti and Zhongli.

"Don't worry, Paimon." The one answering was Mavuika; she smiled and said, "I'll foot the bill for a hefty reward."

Rios followed up: "I'll give you some rewards too, but not Mora."

Mavuika's reward was naturally Mora.

And Rios's reward... well, naturally...

Primogems.

[Player World]

After Rios spoke, a pop-up appeared on players' screens: an event interface background pic with silhouettes of Natlan characters and monsters.

On the image, three interactive special buttons: leftmost a defense tower pic, middle Kinich's silhouette, rightmost the Traveler and Mavuika sitting together playing chess.

Looks like this event had three mini-games.

In the bottom-left corner, a button labeled "Rewards."

Mu Yang moused over and clicked in, tallying up how many Primogems completing the event would net.

After counting, his eyes bulged.

"O-One thousand five hundred Primogems?!"

Mu Yang couldn't believe it.

Did miHoYo strike gold? First event and it's 1500 Primogems?
