Chapter 2.11 Raven the Phoenix
"Father, stop following us and get a life, please!" Raven snapped, glaring over her shoulder.
Yang Jin crouched behind a bush, holding two leafy branches in front of him as if they could hide his towering frame. Unfortunately, his divine aura blazed like the sun, giving him away as easily as counting one, two, three.
It had been three weeks since the incident, and all was well. The Guardians never spoke of it again—because if they dared, they'd have to face her father. And if they couldn't beat him, then they'd best keep their mouths shut and scram.
"Oh, my darling little daughter."
Yang Jin whined pitifully, stepping out from his ridiculous hiding spot.
"Your father is so lonely. Won't you come and comfort your old man?"
"Father, please, stop that—you're creeping me out!"
Raven cringed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "
By the way, Gillha has been looking for you. Why don't you go to him? I know you enjoy his company."
"Hmph!"
Yang Jin puffed out his chest, feigning offense.
"You're just trying to chase away this handsome father of yours. So tell me, where is Gillha now?"
"In the library."
Raven's mouth twitched at the speed with which her father's expression shifted.
"Alrighty then, goodbye my dear little cute, adorable, darling daughter! Trololo~" Yang Jin sang as he bolted off like lightning, as though his backside were on fire.
"Father, wait!" Raven suddenly called.
Yang Jin skidded to a halt and, in the blink of an eye, zoomed back to her side. He clasped her hand with sparkling eyes.
"I knew it! My darling daughter couldn't bear to be without her father. What does my precious little bedbug want?"
"Father, stop with the nicknames already. I'm not a kid anymore." Raven sighed, reminding him for what felt like the hundredth time.
Yang Jin only grinned wider, clearly ignoring her protest.
"Oh, shush you. No matter how old you get, you'll always be my little bedbug." Yang Jin gently held her hand, his eyes warm.
"Father, I know you love me... and Mom too. But isn't it time to move on and continue your life?"
Raven held his hand as she spoke softly.
"You once told me that Mom wasn't your mate, but you loved her, so you married her. Now that she's gone, and you've found your true mate... I won't be angry if you decide to marry again. I want to see you happy, Father. It's alright to love again, and I know Mother would want that too."
"D-Daughter, I..."
Yang Jin's voice faltered, hesitation in his eyes.
"It's alright, Father. Go and chase your mate! And once you catch your mate, never let your mate go again!" Raven encouraged with a smile.
"Then I'd best be going now. I'll capture that mate of mine before someone else does! I once saw that Guardian always hanging around my mate..."
Yang Jin suddenly dashed off, but stopped mid-run. He turned back, his gaze full of warmth.
"Daughter... thank you." He said softly, before running off again until his figure disappeared from sight.
"Good luck, Father." Raven whispered.
'I am happy for you...'
Raven froze, surprised to hear the voice of the Guardian Phoenix of her Clan. It had been so long since she last heard her.
She called again and again, hoping for another reply, but the Phoenix only left her with one final message: 'I am happy for you too, my daughter. Please... live happily...'
And with that, the voice was gone.
"Are you alright, Cici?" Silver, who had been silent until now, finally spoke.
"I'm alright. It's just... I'm happy for my father."
Raven shook her head with a small smile, her eyes lifting to the blue sky above, her expression light and content.
"Are you happy that he finally met his mate?" Silver asked.
His eyes darkened slightly at the word mate, but the shadow quickly faded as his gaze softened when it fell on Raven.
The people who had a mate in their time were those who inherited their Clan Guardian's power. They alone were destined to have a mate.
"Yes. A mate sounds nice to the ears, right? I wish to also find my mate someday." Raven said mischievously as she glanced back at him.
"You still haven't found your mate?" Silver asked seriously, his grip tightening around her hand—firm, but gentle enough not to hurt her.
"Hm... I guess I did."
Raven tilted her head, her eyes glinting with mischief.
"What do you think, Silver? Should I go marry him or not?"
Silver's face darkened, his voice low and possessive.
"What I think best... is that you leave your so-called mate and marry me instead."
Silver pulled Raven into his embrace, his breath brushing her ear as he whispered darkly.
"What do you think?"
"Haha! Silver, are you proposing to me?"
Raven smiled, her fingers playfully twirling through his locks.
"I am. So what do you think—marry me?"
Silver released the hug and held both of Raven's shoulders, looking straight into her eyes. His gaze, full of love and hope, pleaded with her to stay.
"Hm... but I already have a mate. I can't just leave my mate," Raven reasoned softly, locking eyes with him.
"That's why I told you to leave him. Choose me instead..." Silver's voice wavered, hurt clear in his eyes.
He looked at her helplessly, silently begging her not to turn away.
Raven's playful mask slipped.
Looking into those eyes, she couldn't keep teasing him any longer. She wrapped her arms around him, holding him close.
If anyone asked her what her weakness was, she would answer without hesitation—it was his eyes. They were too clear, too honest. She couldn't bear to stain them with sadness. It hurt her to see him like this.
"You're not playing fair... you're always not playing fair..."
Raven pouted, hugging him tighter.
"That's why I always get to keep you, right?" Silver whispered unconsciously, his arms tightening around her as if he would never let go.
"Right..." Raven helplessly smiled.
"So, are you willing to be mine?"
Silver looked at her with hope, his eyes locked on hers.
"What are you saying? I'm always yours. I have always been yours, will always be yours, and only yours. From the start until the end, I've only ever belonged to you. Silver, I am yours."
Raven's gaze shone with love, her eyes alone revealing just how deeply she felt for him.
"Cici, I am also yours. Whether it's the past, the present, or the future—even in the next life, and the next, and the next after that—I will only ever be yours, as you are mine alone. I love you, Cici. Always and forever."
Silver leaned his forehead gently against hers.
"I love you too, Silver. Always and forever. Nothing could break us apart—not even death." Raven's voice was steady, her eyes unwavering as their lips drew closer, only inches apart.

"You may kiss the bride!"
As Gillha declared the union complete, the newlyweds sealed their vows with a kiss.
The red string of fate shimmered into view, wrapping around them both. Each end tied itself to their ring fingers—a promise that no matter how many lifetimes passed, they would never be apart. As long as their souls existed, they would continue to love only each other. Nothing could break that bond.
"I love you," Silver whispered sweetly to his bride.
"I love you more."
Raven giggled, her eyes overflowing with warmth.
"I hope you won't regret being tied to me. I wasn't joking when I said it would be forever." She smiled, pointing to the red string glowing on her finger.
"I wasn't joking either."
Silver smiled softly.
"I don't mind being tied to you. Even if it's forever, as long as it's with you, I'd gladly be bound for all eternity."
And so, after their vows were sealed, the two lived a blissful life together—traveling the world hand in hand, just as they had in their past life, their love unshaken and eternal.
Everyone was happy, and Silver was finally free. His curse had broken the moment the Female Lead died. No one knew why, but it didn't matter—what mattered was that he was free at last.
As for Yang Jin and Gillha, they lived happily together forever.
Gillha turned out to be Yang Jin's long-awaited mate—something he thought he would never find in all his millions of years. Yet fate surprised him in the most unexpected way. After countless rounds of chasing and pleading, Yang Jin finally married the aloof but secretly shy Gillha, who happily became a stay-at-home spouse after passing his Guardian title to his disciple.
After all, what was the point of being a Guardian when you had such a handsome, devoted husband waiting at home? And so, the two lived a blissful married life.
But what happened to the Male Lead after the Female Lead's death?
Well...
"Wifey! Where art thou, my cute little wifey? Hubby is home!" Gold shouted as he barged in, searching for his beloved.
"Will you stop calling me that!" Dark snapped, his face burning red as he smacked Gold on the head.
Gold only grinned, rubbing the sore spot.
"Hehe... but you'll always be my wifey."
Dark groaned, his blush deepening, and smacked gold in the head again.
When Dark realized his feelings for his Master, Gold, he tried his best to stay as far away as possible. Still, that didn't stop him from shooting icicles at the shameless women who dared to cling to Gold—literally.
No matter how far Dark was, an icicle would always appear right on time to strike those leeches away from his Gold.
On the other hand, when Gold finally realized his own feelings for his disciple, he snapped. Tired of Dark running from him and avoiding him like the plague, Gold kidnapped him and whisked him away to a foreign land where no one knew them.
What started as a desperate act turned into a night of truth, where both finally admitted their feelings.
Once they knew their love was mutual, Gold and Dark abandoned the heavy responsibilities that had chained them down. They chose instead to live a peaceful, happy life together in their own sweet home.
As for who became the next Guardian?
Well... no one really knows.
"Oh, I know how much you love it when I call you that... especially when we're in bed." Gold's voice dropped to a seductive whisper as he pulled Dark into his embrace.
Dark's face turned crimson, his heart racing. Gold's usual playfulness was gone—replaced by a serious, smoldering side no one else had ever seen. Who would have thought Gold could be so two-faced?
"Hm~ Stop that, it's still daylight!"
Dark's muffled protest was followed by a sharp gasp as Gold pinned him down, a wolfish grin spreading across his face.
"Who cares if it's daylight? All I care about is my prize. Thank you for the meal!" Gold teased before diving in, his laughter mixing with Dark's flustered cries.
From outside the room, the sounds that followed made Raven raise an eyebrow.
"I think we should go back after they are done."
Raven suggested when she heard the sound that could make any lady's face red, but who is she to be so shy in her age, and it's not like she hadn't done it with Silver and Mu Xuan before.
"L-Lets go back again then after they are done..."
Silver's face turned beet-red, hearing those pleasured voices inside the room.
Raven chuckled at his reaction.
Sometimes she wondered if their roles were reversed—Silver was always the shy one between them.
Well... except when they were alone.

Silver and Raven lived for over a thousand years, the average lifespan of a Guardian. But on a fateful day, Raven suddenly passed away for reasons unknown.
Her family, the Guardians, and her friends mourned deeply, but none took the blow harder than Silver. Unable to bear life without her, he chose to follow her into the underworld.
What use was living if she was gone?
For the last time, Silver poured all of his Holy Qi into the land, blessing it and banishing the demons that plagued their world. Then, with quiet resolve, he lay down beside Raven in her coffin and took his final breath.
"I will come find you, no matter how long it takes. I will find you." He whispered, caressing her hair one last time before closing his eyes forever.
When their friends discovered that Silver had joined her in death, they buried the loving couple together with heavy hearts. Tears streamed down their faces, for they had not only lost a friend, a brother, a sister, a Guardian, a daughter—they had lost family.
And so, they prayed. They prayed that the two souls, bound by love, would meet again in another lifetime... and once more create a legendary story of their eternal bond.

The first thing Clear heard when her senses returned was a triumphant shout echoing in her mind.
[Wooooo!! I won, I won! This is all mine now!]
Blinking, she found herself staring at the oddest sight: her System, sitting at a table with three glowing balls of light, all of them deeply engrossed in a game of poker.
The lights flickered and pulsed as if laughing, while the System smugly gathered its winnings.
Clear raised an eyebrow.
"Ehem..." She coughed softly.
No reaction.
"EHEM!" She said louder, her voice sharp enough to cut through the room.
The System froze mid-motion, cards slipping from its hands.
[Host, you're here? I mean—ah, I'm glad you're finally here! Right, right, let me just calculate all your scores now!] The System stammered, scrambling to hide the poker table as a mission screen popped open in front of her.

"Not bad, that's a bigger reward than the first." Clear muttered, glancing at the glowing numbers.
[Of course! It's a C World, so the reward's a little bigger! Now, how about Host chooses your Free Skills? I'm in a hurry—alright, give me one sec!] The System shouted, already yelling at the other balls of light still lingering around the poker table.
"Just like always..."
Clear sighed, shaking her head. She was far too tired to argue with her noisy System.
"Alright, show it to me then."

The moment the words left her mouth, she was instantly whisked away to her next destination.
[Alright then, time to play! whistles] The System cheered, already distracted.
– Three Years Later –
"So, what now?" Clear asked calmly after buying the supplies she needed for the next world.
Her System, however, was far too busy playing Mahjong with the glowing balls of light to pay her much attention. By now, Clear was used to its antics. Fighting with it was pointless—it was always her loss in the end.
[Then, how about you just go to the next world?] The system replied lazily, not even looking up from its tiles.
"Fin—"
Clear began, but before she could finish her word, she was once again yanked away, thrown headfirst into another world by her ever-unpredictable System.
[Good luck, Host.] The System said, staring at the spot where its Host had just vanished.
[You're so playful, you know that.] The pink ball of light teased, its glow pulsing like laughter.
[That's how I work. Now then—how about we get back to the game?]
The System grinned, already reaching for its tiles.
The balls of light floated back into position, and soon the sound of clacking mahjong tiles filled the space once more, as if nothing unusual had happened at all
