But Sarah's heart soon settled. 'So what if he heard? The worst he can do is punish me when we get home.'
'Besides, I'm already used to it!'
She had intended to leave without betraying any emotion, but after a moment's thought, she turned to Ewan Stratton and asked casually, "What are you doing here?"
Ewan Stratton maneuvered his wheelchair closer, then suddenly reached out and took one of her hands. Staring into her eyes, he said, "I was worried about you, so I came to check."
His voice was so gentle that Sarah's heart skipped a beat. 'This tone of voice... it's not at all like the Ewan I know!'
But she didn't have the energy to dwell on it. With the baby in one arm, she simply raised an eyebrow and reached for the armrest of his wheelchair with her free hand. "Let's go. I'll push you."
