Mrs. White's words made Mrs. Sterling's expression harden. She shot a displeased look at Sharon Dalton. She'd never realized before that Sharon Dalton could be so arrogant, or that her attitude toward Aurora was so hostile. 'Was all her past obedience just an act she put on for me?'
Sharon Dalton bit her lip, knowing Mrs. Sterling was now deeply suspicious of her. Just as she was about to explain, Mrs. White spoke first.
"Well, since this Miss Dalton holds such a high position in the Sterling family, I suppose our Rose will just have to endure it. But I must remind you, Mrs. Sterling, you might want to check if your family is missing anything. If she can steal from our Rose today, who knows if she's stolen from the Sterling family in the past. Miss Sterling, in particular, should check her belongings very carefully."
Mrs. White's passive-aggressive words were as good as calling Sharon Dalton a habitual thief.
