Ivy Tanner was jolted awake by a violent coughing fit. She clutched her mouth, feeling as if she were about to cough up her internal organs, and her face instantly turned crimson.
Ethan Kingsley slowly turned around. He watched her suffer but didn't approach. Instead, he took out his phone and made a call. "Bring medicine over, now. Pregnant woman. Cold, fever, bad cough. It's serious."
That was all he said before hanging up. He then walked slowly to the edge of the bed and sat down.
Ivy glanced at him. The coughing had subsided, but her throat was so sore she didn't want to speak.
Ethan Kingsley asked, "Why didn't you call me if you were sick?"
The corners of Ivy's lips twitched into an unnatural smile. "Just a useless dog," she said, her voice hoarse. "Not worth troubling my master over."
"I'm warning you, don't piss me off," Ethan said, fighting the urge to lash out.
