"The First Lady they have in mind might not be the First Lady I want," Adrian Quincy said gently. "Instead of worrying about that, you should think about where we stand."
Claire paused for a moment, then asked him, "What do you want me to do?"
"I want you to be happy doing the things you love. But if it's always making you miserable, I don't want you to force yourself to continue."
"I'm not unhappy, just a little lost."
Adrian pulled her into his arms, his heart aching for her. "Claire, you're a new mother. It's natural for your mindset to change a little. Feeling lost for a while is completely normal. Don't overthink it. No matter what you want to do, I'll support you unconditionally."
Claire gazed at his handsome face, so close to hers, and blinked. "Why are you so good to me?"
"You're my wife. Who else would I be good to?"
"Well..." Claire grinned playfully and whispered in his ear, "I'm feeling especially energetic right now."
