Chapter 7 - Village

Makoto and Shin exchanged glances when they saw Ema faint. Without saying a word, they carried her with them and returned to the orcs' purification site. The guards were startled when they saw Ema unconscious, but after Makoto explained that she had merely fainted from shock, they were allowed inside to wait for her to wake up.

Before long, Ema regained consciousness.

"Where… am I?" Ema asked, looking around the room.

When she realized she was back at the purification site—and in the room she had stayed in the previous night—her face stiffened.

"How is it possible that Shin-sama made a contract with Makoto-sama and turned into such a beautiful woman…?" she muttered, struggling to accept reality.

When Ema stepped out of the room, she saw Makoto and Shin talking together. Upon seeing them, she took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. After coming to terms with the situation, she walked toward them.

Earlier, while waiting for Ema to wake up, Makoto and Shin had been talking.

"Shin, what do you think we should do with the sub-dimension?" Makoto asked casually.

"I don't know," Shin replied with a slightly confused tone. "The sub-dimension changed because of the contract Makoto-sama made with me."

This was the first time in her long life that Shin had encountered something like this.

"How about building a new city there?" Makoto suggested thoughtfully. "Wouldn't that be fun?"

After coming to this other world, Makoto had begun thinking about creating a place he could truly call home, and the sub-dimension seemed perfect for that purpose.

In the anime, Makoto built a city by simply going with the flow, without much planning at the beginning. But in this life, Makoto intended to build a city seriously—from the ground up.

Hearing Makoto's words, Shin immediately became excited. The idea of creating a new city made her start thinking about how to build it and who would live there.

"What do you think, Shin? Even if it'll be troublesome and annoying at times, it would be amazing to see a city we built ourselves standing proudly," Makoto said with a wide smile, imagining the future.

"Your idea is brilliant, Makoto-sama!" Shin replied enthusiastically. "But who will be the first residents of the sub-dimension?"

"How about the highland orcs?" Makoto answered, glancing at the orcs working in the distance.

After discussing it with Shin, Makoto decided to make a final decision after seeing the highland orc village for himself.

While Makoto and Shin were talking, they noticed Ema approaching. They stopped their conversation.

"How are you feeling, Ema? You suddenly fainted back there," Makoto asked.

"I'm fine, Makoto-sama. I was just shocked after hearing Shin-sama's explanation," Ema replied apologetically, feeling guilty for troubling Makoto again.

Makoto then explained everything about the demon race and their scheme, telling her that the suffering the highland orcs had endured for years was all their doing. Hearing this, Ema felt anger rise within her—and gratitude as well.

"Makoto-sama, would you be willing to come with me to the highland orc village?" Ema asked seriously. "I want to tell my father, the chief of the highland orcs, about the demon race's plan—and to thank you properly for saving our village."

Makoto and Shin exchanged looks and agreed.

Ema then gathered everyone at the purification site and told them that they no longer needed to stay there. She instructed them to pack their belongings and return to the village with her.

Although the highland orcs were confused, they obeyed Ema's orders. She was not only the chieftain's daughter, but also someone with status and respect among the highland orcs.

Makoto, Shin, Ema, and the rest of the highland orcs set out for the village, arriving in the late afternoon.

As soon as they arrived, Ema went to see her father and told him everything Makoto had explained. Upon learning of the demon race's scheme, her father was consumed by rage.

As a father who had been willing to sacrifice his own daughter, and as a chieftain who had watched his people leave one by one to be offered as sacrifices, his anger was mixed with deep sorrow—born from helplessness and the countless lives lost to the demon race.

He gathered the entire village and announced that they no longer needed to send offerings. He then explained the demon race's plan that had made their lives miserable for years.

He also declared that Makoto was the one who had thwarted the demons' scheme and avenged them. To repay this debt, the entire village would hold a festival to welcome Makoto—the man who had effectively saved their lives.

When night fell, the festival at the village hall began in high spirits. There were dances and music performed in Makoto's honor.

As Makoto ate and drank, he watched the villagers dance and laugh—free at last from the fear that had bound them for years.

Shin, who had been sitting beside Makoto earlier, was nowhere to be seen. Ema soon arrived, carrying more food and drink.

"Makoto-sama, where did Shin-sama go?" Ema asked, looking around.

"She had a small matter to discuss with your father," Makoto replied casually.

Ema went to look for her father. When she found him with Shin, she overheard their conversation and stopped in her tracks.

"Shin-sama, we are deeply grateful for everything Makoto-sama has done for our village—and for avenging the daughters who were taken from us," Ema's father said.

"You've done enough by holding such a lively festival," Shin replied calmly. "Makoto-sama isn't someone who enjoys flaunting such deeds."

"Would you like to move to a fertile land?" Shin asked, looking directly at him.

"We would like to," Ema's father replied in a low voice. "But we lack the strength. More fertile lands are already controlled by races far stronger than us, and the hardships of recent years have only weakened the highland orcs further."

"What if there were fertile land you could inhabit?" Shin asked quietly.

Ema's father fell silent.

Without hesitation, Shin teleported both Ema's father and Ema, who had been listening from behind.

When they regained their senses, they found themselves standing in a vast expanse filled with greenery and towering trees. A fresh breeze brushed past them, making the scene feel like a dream.

"What do you think of this place?" Shin asked. "This is a sub-dimension formed after I made a contract with Makoto-sama. If you wish to move here, you must pledge your loyalty to Makoto-sama."

"Shin-sama, I pledge my loyalty to Makoto-sama," Ema said firmly.

"Yes, Shin-sama. We, the highland orcs, pledge our loyalty to Makoto-sama," her father replied sincerely.

The next morning, all the highland orcs gathered and knelt before Makoto.

Although Makoto already knew their decision, he still asked, "Have you truly thought this through?"

"We are deeply grateful for the chance to live under the protection of Shin-sama and Makoto-sama," Ema's father said. "For that reason, we, the highland orcs, swear our loyalty to Makoto-sama."

"We swear our loyalty to Makoto-sama!"

The voices of the villagers—young and old alike—rang out together.

"Very well. I accept your loyalty," Makoto said.

"Who will help with their relocation?" Makoto asked, turning to Shin.

"Don't worry. I'll take care of it," said one of Shin's clones, appearing beside him. "If any monsters attack, I'll deal with them as well."

Makoto almost forgot that Shin could split herself.

"In that case, I'll leave it to you," Makoto said with a nod
