Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Kaiser Pulls an SSR with a Casual Draw?

Kuoh Academy, old school building.

This former campus structure had stood abandoned for years, giving it an eerie, foreboding atmosphere.

After Rias finished helping Kaiser with all the enrollment paperwork, the three of them made their way here.

Shiho surveyed the dilapidated building and quipped, "Is this one of the academy's seven wonders or something?"

"There are rumors like that, yes."

Rias pushed open the door. "But in reality, it's where my peerage gathers."

With that, the trio stepped into a spacious clubroom.

"Juno, Koneko—look who's here."

"Kaiser, it's good to see you again."

Himejima Akeno smiled warmly. "Would you two prefer black tea or coffee?"

"Tea for me. Shiho, what about you?"

"Coffee, please."

Tachibana Koneko gave a small wave, her voice flat as ever. "Hello, Kaiser-senpai."

"Still as cool as always."

Kaiser settled onto the sofa, glancing around before asking, "Rias, is it still just Koneko and Akeno-senpai in your peerage?"

Rias sighed helplessly. "No choice—truly exceptional servants are hard to come by."

"Indeed."

Kaiser nodded thoughtfully, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

It seemed...

Whether because of his own influence or the shifts in this fused world, Kiba Yuuto and that vampire were nowhere to be found.

All the better.

He wasn't about to tolerate other men hovering around the fish in his pond.

"Why? Are you happy I haven't found more?"

Rias eyed him suspiciously.

Something about this guy...

He seemed to be thinking something incredibly rude.

"Of course not."

Kaiser laughed it off, changing the subject. "Actually, there's something about Shiho I'd like to ask your help with."

"Go on."

"You know she's brand new to being a devil—no combat experience at all. I'd appreciate it if your people could train her a bit."

He grinned. "And if someone felt like teaching her some advanced magic, that would be even better."

Teaching others wasn't exactly his strong suit—he had zero patience for it.

"You're dreaming."

Rias rolled her eyes.

This guy didn't just want to slack off; he wanted free lessons too.

Kaiser blinked innocently, as if to say exactly.

While the Lucifuge family was prestigious, its foundations couldn't compare to the Gremory clan's—especially when it came to advanced magic.

That tier of spells was said to rival the destructive power of a Demon King, guarded as closely held secrets in many households.

And besides...

With Shiho's Heart of Magic, anything she learned would instantly become his knowledge too.

It was pure profit with no investment.

Rias twitched her lips at his expression but didn't refuse.

It wasn't as if she hadn't shared advanced spells with him before.

With a sigh, she relented. "Fine. We'll see what suits her first—I'll handle it."

"For now, Akeno, why don't you start her training?"

"Certainly, President."

Himejima Akeno nodded.

She stepped in front of Shiho and said, "Miss Shiho, come at me with everything you've got."

"I want to gauge your current strength."

"Then please guide me well, Miss Akeno."

Shiho's eyes gleamed with eagerness.

After mastering so many spells yesterday, she was finally going to test them out.

Silently, subtly...

Demonic power rippled outward, vibrating the very air.

"Hold on a moment."

Akeno quickly raised a hand to stop her.

Was she serious?

Hadn't this girl only become a servant yesterday?

Yet this level of power...

It was clearly Mid-Class Devil already.

If they actually clashed here, the old school building might get demolished.

On the sidelines, Rias and Koneko wore matching expressions of disbelief.

None of them were novices.

They knew all too well how rigidly hierarchical devil strength could be.

Unless someone reincarnated from an already powerful race, even renowned Sacred Gear wielders started at Low-Class upon reincarnation.

But this girl...

An ordinary human turned devil.

In just one day, she'd reached Mid-Class?

It was like she was outright cheating.

Rias shifted her gaze from Shiho to Kaiser. "How did she manage that?"

"Because she has an exceptional master, of course."

Kaiser replied with perfect seriousness. "If you became my servant, you'd level up just as fast."

"Keep dreaming."

Rias shot him a look—she didn't believe a word.

In her mind, Shiho probably had some hidden, extraordinary lineage.

Either way...

Kaiser had struck absolute gold with this servant.

After a brief pause, Akeno spoke up. "Miss Shiho, let's take this outside."

"My apologies—I got ahead of myself."

Shiho realized her mistake.

Fighting indoors really wasn't appropriate.

"It's not your fault. I wasn't thinking."

Akeno shook her head and headed out.

Behind the old school building lay a wide open field.

It served as the usual training ground for Rias's peerage.

Shiho and Akeno faced each other across the clearing.

"Miss Akeno, here I come."

Shiho warned politely, extending both hands and channeling her power.

Hum!

A pale blue magic circle materialized in the air.

In the next instant, several razor-sharp wind blades sliced through the space toward Akeno.

"Wind blades?"

Akeno's eyes narrowed slightly.

It was the most basic of spells.

But the proficiency...

It was far too refined.

Had she truly been an ordinary human until yesterday?

Even as the thought crossed her mind, Akeno's response was lightning quick.

She shifted gracefully, countering with magic of matching intensity.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Their spells collided in bursts of smoke and force.

Shockwaves rippled outward like tangible walls of pressure.

Watching the display, Rias murmured, "You really lucked out and found a treasure."

Kaiser stroked his chin, smiling. "And this is only the beginning."

"???"

Rias's face was full of question marks.

"Miss Akeno, let's keep going."

"Very well."

Shiho mimicked Akeno's movements, unleashing another spell.

Hum.

The magic circle flared brilliantly.

Sparks of flame erupted from within.

"N-no way..."

Rias's pupils contracted sharply.

Spark magic too?

Two foundational elements in a single day?

Or was...

This still not her limit?

Her questions were soon answered.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Shiho unleashed a relentless barrage—spell after spell in dizzying variety.

Was this something a person could learn in one day?

Rias sank into profound shock.

Kaiser hadn't just struck gold.

He'd casually drawn an SSR.

This was beyond ridiculous.
