Chapter 30 - a deceptive heart

I went straight to Ms. Duval's office instead of going back to my dorm. I had questions that I didn't think were going to get answered.

There was muffled laughter coming from her office and it made something in my lower stomach twist painfully.

I opened the door with more force than was necessary, something ugly curling itself around my spine when I saw none other than Isadora sitting in front of her.

"What are you doing here?" I yelled, unable to contain my anger.

There was that infamous cruel smile on her face. "The last time I checked, students are allowed to walk into their teacher's office if they want some guidance. Do you have a problem with that, Mary?"

My lips were drawn into a thin line. "Where were you?"

Isadora put her hands on her chest in feign concern. "I see someone was worried about me. It's okay darling, I'd never abandon you."

I looked at Ms. Duval whose face was blank, only watching me with a little curiosity.
