About 50 years ago, calamity struck humanity. Monsters appeared out of gates and wreaked havoc upon all life. During this period, humanity's survival rates were in an all time low. But with just a glimmer of hope, anything is possible. With the power bestowed by gods, humanity managed to power through and rebuild civilization. It is said the one who led the charge had the power of hope.

In the end, humanity reigned supreme, and though many ecosystems and livelihoods were damaged, humanity rebuilt.

"The newest awakened S rank hunter, Cho Aster tan, born in ericloa, has cleared his first dungeon…"

Sitting next to the tv, in an small, crowded room., a group of kids wearing school uniforms ate silently together.

"…I wish I was awakened…"

"Where did that come from?"

Lena, putting her chopsticks down and wiping her mouth, looked at the boy who was complaining under his breath.

"What do you mean where that came from! Look at the money these people are earning! That guy on tv is the same age as us… life is so unfair. He gets born with those looks and have get infinite money while we common folk have to go through uni and hope to get a good job…"

Burying himself in his arms, Joseph continued to complain.

"I didn't think you'd have such a mindset influenced by capitalism with those grades."

"W-whats that suppose to mean!"

Joseph looked up, staring at clam who was scooping rice into his mouth. Annoyed that he was getting ganged up on, he turned to the boy who had not said anything yet, simply eating quietly and watching the tv.

"Elias! Would you rather awaken than have to study?"

The boy with black hair looked up at joseph

"? Study."

"…"

Having been betrayed by his friends, Joseph lied on his back, not speaking.

A moment passed, and unable to withstand the silence, Joseph posed a question.

"Say.. what do you three wanna do in the future? What kind of uni do you guys want to get into?"

Lena, looking at the Joseph, tilted her head.

"Our results aren't even out yet but if I had to get into one… it'd probably be getting into an acting school!"

"You? Into an acting school?"

"Shut up! What about you?"

"Me?"

Joseph positioned his hands to rest his head on, looking up at the ceiling.

"Isn't it obvious? I want money, I'll probably work in one of my dad's companies."

"And you complain about hunters?"

"Shut up! What's your dream then?"

Clam continued to stuff food into his mouth before adjusting his glasses

"Probably something related to technology, it's not a bad career choice."

"Boring.. what about you Elias?"

Elias looked up, staring at the tv before narrowing his eyes.

"Dunno."

"Dunno..? Do you have a uni you want to go to then? You're the best in academics of all of us so-"

"I don't have the money to go to one."

The room grew silent after that.

"W-wait, what do you mean you don't have the money to go into one?!"

"It's expensive and I'm poor."

"…."

Lena stared at Elias with a worried expression

"Then I can just lend you some money, It's an investment!"

Joseph sat up, his eyes lighting up as he pointed at Elias.

"No thanks, I don't want to be indebted to someone like you."

"What's that suppose to mean?"

"So.. you're not planning to go to a university or anything?"

Ignoring Joseph's wailing, clam rested his chin on his hand as he asked Elias

Seeing Elias nod, clam smiled

"Then wanna work part time at the place I used to work? They pay decently and they already know who you are."

"You mean that convenient store?"

Seeing Lena tilt her head, clam nodded.

"Sure."

"HUH!"

"Shut up would you.."

Lena pulled Joseph's cheek the moment he sat up, preventing him from speaking.

"Alright, I'll contact the owner, give me a second."

Clam took his phone out before standing up and walking out of the room, Elias continued to chew on the rice.

"And thus ends the interview with Cho aster tan, being only 19 years old, he is a symbol of of how the youth can-"

Using the remote control, Elias shut the tv off.
