Chapter 20 - Ma Jun Really Delivers—When There’s Trouble, He Steps Up

These unfortunate players had lived through a miserable day yesterday.

When they were told they'd have to choose one among them to die, they had already fallen into despair.

Resistance was impossible—completely impossible.

The two female ghosts who had just returned were even more terrifyingly strong than before.

And they'd also heard that the outside of the castle wasn't some safe haven either.

Monsters, demons, and ghosts lurked everywhere, all waiting to take their lives. Trying to escape would probably just get them killed faster.

So all they could do was grit their teeth and endure, praying that the Goddess of Luck might show mercy—and that the one who died wouldn't be them.

In the end, they spent the entire night trembling with fear.

Every single person was shaking like a startled quail.

And yet—

Not a single casualty?!

Those two terrifying female ghosts seemed to have forgotten about them entirely!

The players could only feel baffled.

They had no idea what was going on.

Until now—

They watched with wide eyes as Ma Jun once again strode out of the castle in a domineering fashion.

And behind him, the obedient female ghosts had increased from one to two!

One of them was even one of the two ghosts who had returned just yesterday!

The players were utterly confused.

Was Ma Jun really a player?

Could he actually be some GM who had entered the game to "experience life"?!

Even Jiang Han and Mu Chen couldn't make sense of it.

They'd been trained since the age of six, receiving instruction from all kinds of veterans who taught them knowledge that was officially permitted to be shared about horror survival games.

But never—not once—had they heard of a player as absurd as Ma Jun.

Everyone else entered horror games trembling with fear, fighting desperately just to survive.

And him?

It was like he'd come home.

He was the king of this land!

"Ma Jun, you…"

Jiang Han's expression was complicated. She wanted to ask something, but felt it wasn't appropriate.

Everyone had their secrets.

She did too.

"What is it?" Ma Jun asked, puzzled.

"…Nothing," Jiang Han replied, lowering her head without continuing.

If she didn't speak, Ma Jun certainly wasn't going to waste time on these players.

His time was precious.

Every second counted.

Of course, spending time with beautiful girls didn't count as a waste.

That was the sublimation of life.

Ma Jun led Daniela and Casandra toward the outside of the castle.

In his mind, he was already planning—should he keep catching dragonfish, or go look for other hidden items?

There were still several treasures in the village comparable in quality to the dragonfish.

He had barely taken two steps—

When a gust of foul wind suddenly blew toward him, violently interrupting his thoughts.

"What the hell?!"

He reflexively raised his head, only to see a pair of blood-red, ferocious eyes appear before him!

Ma Jun nearly threw a punch on instinct.

Daniela and Casandra's expressions changed at the same time. Both stepped forward together, blocking in front of Ma Jun.

Looking at the two slender, tall figures standing protectively before him, Ma Jun's emotions grew complicated.

What had appeared just now—

Was a group of werewolves, their bodies covered in fur, sharp fangs bared!

These were failed products of Grace Spore modification.

They had become savage beasts with simple minds, knowing only slaughter and feeding.

Occasionally, a few retained fragments of consciousness.

Those among them who could still communicate—and who possessed greater combat power—were uniformly placed under the command of the Hainsberg family.

"The Werewolf Guard!"

"What are you doing here?!" Daniela shouted angrily.

"Grrr… heh heh…"

The werewolf guard parted, and a particularly tall werewolf stepped forward.

His fur carried a faint silver sheen, his height close to 2.2 meters.

His physique was massive and muscular, and he held a heavy hammer in both hands.

The hammer looked very similar to Hainsberg's own, though it was clearly an older model.

He was the captain of the Werewolf Guard—

Sbinse!

"Sbinse!" Daniela frowned.

"Why have you come to our family's territory?!"

Sbinse opened his wide mouth, revealing rows of sharp fangs.

Unlike the other werewolves who didn't even bother wearing cloth, Sbinse at least knew enough to wear pants.

It seemed his brain worked a bit better than the others'.

But looking into those supposedly intelligent eyes, one could tell—

Even if he was stronger, it was only by a limited margin.

"Heh heh," Sbinse laughed twice.

"Your sister lost to me in battle."

"According to our rules, if she loses, she belongs to me."

"So I've come to take her back."

Casandra exploded with rage.

"Get lost, you filthy, despicable thing!"

"You think you deserve my sister?!"

"If my mother were here, she'd tear you apart alive!"

A glint of cruelty flashed through Sbinse's not-so-clever eyes.

"Lady Akina is currently a guest in our family," he sneered.

"She won't be coming back."

Ma Jun understood immediately.

This werewolf captain was taking advantage of the fact that the lady of the house was away to make his move.

If this had been before, it would've had nothing to do with him—love and desire were personal freedoms.

But now?

It was different.

He'd just had intimate contact with Beilei—and even made her faint.

It would feel wrong not to step in.

This was something he had to handle.

Before he could even speak, Daniela was already shouting angrily:

"My sister has already given her body and soul entirely to Master!"

"She can only bond with Master from now on!"

"Stop dreaming in broad daylight!"

When she said "Master," she deliberately gestured toward Ma Jun.

That single point—

Instantly blew up the players who were watching the drama unfold from behind.

The courtyard erupted.
