Chapter 80 - Chapter 80

Chapter 80 Thor is dead, wait, he seems to be alive again.

In short, Finney didn't want these people to do such things in his name. Even if there were many followers, it wouldn't benefit him.

Besides, the essence of this group's faith was actually 'divine punishment,' that kind of thing that tried to destroy the world. He was too busy saving the world to destroy it!

  Thanos would be more suitable!

Feeling irritated, Finney arrived at school.

Billy approached again, making Finney wonder if this guy had lost interest in women after being dumped last time. Otherwise, why would he always pester him?

Thinking of this, Finney couldn't help but shudder and quickly stared at Billy warily, keeping his distance.

Billy, unaware of Finney's thoughts, was holding a piece of paper and excitedly introduced, "Finney, I'm going to create a 'Divine Punishment Knight' fan club. Do you want to join?"

  "Huh?"

Finney was stunned and didn't react.

"It's like a club," Billy explained. "We usually gather information about the 'Knight of Divine Punishment' together, so we can help him if he needs it. The ultimate goal is to see him in person and say a few words to him!"

"You've seen him more than once, and you even chat with him every day!"

Finney rolled his eyes inwardly, asking with a headache, "Why did you create this?"

"I looked into the Church of Divine Punishment, but I didn't really like it. I couldn't find any other ones, so I thought I'd create my own."

  "The school won't approve,"

Finney replied expressionlessly. Creating a club at school isn't something you can just apply for casually; they definitely wouldn't approve something like this.

"No, the school has already approved it, and they even assigned me a special activity room. Seven people have already confirmed their membership. Finney, you should join too!"

Billy said excitedly, clearly not expecting it to be so simple.

"Has the school lost its mind?"

  Finney blurted out involuntarily.

What's the point of this kind of club?!

Finney couldn't understand the school's thinking, so he decided to give up resisting, slumping on the table and listlessly replying, "No thanks, I'm not interested."

  "Don't go!"

Billy clearly didn't want to give up on his best friend, whispering, "Lots of girls have joined, why don't you join too? I'll give you a vice-president position."

Finney obviously wasn't going to sell himself out for such a small favor. He glanced at the fawning Billy, still firmly refusing, "No, this organization looks hopeless."

Hearing this, Billy got even angrier, slamming his hand on the table and angrily saying, "Finney, you can insult me, but you can't insult my idol, the Divine Punishment Knight!"

"What if your idol insults you?"

Finney didn't seem to care, asking with interest. The two had a good relationship; they wouldn't let such a small matter escalate into a major conflict.

"My idol would never insult me!"

Billy raised his head, looking quite proud, whether he believed his idol couldn't possibly insult him, or that he wasn't worthy of being insulted by his idol, was unclear.

  "Heh!"

But unfortunately, Billy didn't know that his 'idol' was, at that very moment, 'insulting' him.

Because of Finney's 'remarks,' Billy ultimately gave up inviting him to join and instead went on to invite others, making Finney sigh silently.

He wondered what Billy's expression would be when he found out his true identity someday.

School days were always tedious yet fulfilling. After finishing his morning classes, Finney, who had no afternoon classes, prepared to go back and help Skye with her skills training.

But just then, the phone rang. Looking at the caller ID, Finney frowned slightly.

  "Hello?"

Finney found a secluded corner and answered the phone.

  "Thor is dead!"

Nick Fury's calm voice came through the line, but the content sent a jolt of shock through Finney.

  "What? How is that possible?!"

Finney panicked. Thor was dead! What would become of the Avengers? Asgard? Loki would lose his brother?!

"He was just killed by a metal robot,"

  Nick Fury explained simply.

  "Ah?!"

Finney seemed to realize something and breathed a sigh of relief. Just then, Nick Fury's surprised and astonished voice came through again: "Wait, he seems to be alive again."

After a few seconds, Nick Fury said again, "Okay, everything's alright for now. Please keep your phone accessible."

He hung up, leaving Finney standing there, extremely annoyed. He now roughly guessed what had happened.

If nothing unexpected happened, Loki had sent the Destroyer to cripple Thor, then broken Odin's seal, restoring Thor's divine power.

Nick Fury was likely monitoring the situation closely, worried about potential problems, which is why he contacted him immediately.

Although he understood what was going on, Finney was still unhappy, feeling like Nick Fury was treating him like a subordinate.

"Next time, I need to make him understand that this isn't a call he can make lightly,"

Finney thought to himself. He needed to make Nick Fury understand his place; he could be an outsider, but definitely not a member of the Avengers.

Nick Fury's call gave Finney temporary insight that Thor's side seemed to be proceeding smoothly according to the original plot, but

this also worried him. It was precisely because of the knowledge of Asgard's existence that Nick Fury decided to restart the development of the Tesseract, the Space Stone, which affected Thanos's initial probing of Earth.

As for warning Nick Fury not to touch the Tesseract, Finney thought that was almost impossible.

Even if Nick outwardly agreed, he would definitely do it secretly; that's just how argumentative people are. Unless Finney stole the Tesseract, but that would mean turning against S.H.I.E.L.D.

Now that his identity has been discovered, if things turn sour, he'll definitely implicate Hydra, leading to a three-way war and chaos in the world.

Moreover, this might not even stop Thanos's probing; if Thanos gets involved, countless people on Earth will die without even a snap of his fingers.

Thinking this, Finney sighed with worry. Various internal and external troubles were looming ahead; being an Earthling was truly difficult.

Not long after Finney returned home, Nick Fury called again. Finney deliberately waited a while before answering; even if Thor was really dead, it would be useless for him to get there.

"Why did it take you so long to answer?"

  Nick Fury sounded somewhat displeased.

"Heh, I never said I had to answer your calls."

Finney sneered in return. "Get this straight, Director Fury, we have a business partnership, not a superior-subordinate relationship. I don't need to take orders from you."

Nick Fury paused for a moment, not dwelling on the issue, and went straight to the point: "They're gone, probably using that rainbow bridge you mentioned."

"Isn't that good? You'd be more worried if they all stayed,"

  Finney replied lazily.

Sigh, I feel like I might be doomed… No votes, no favorites, nothing at all…
