Chapter 81 - Chapter 81

  Chapter 81 Excessive Daily Life

"But they can come back anytime."

Nick Fury's voice sounded normal, but Finney understood that he had already considered Asgard as a potential enemy.

  "So what!?"

Finney's face held a hint of sarcasm on the other end of the phone. In truth, without Nick Fury's initiative to develop the Tesseract, Thanos's attempt to send his fleet to Earth wouldn't have been easy.

In the original storyline, Nick Fury was at least half responsible for the devastation in New York; the other half would be shared by Loki, Thanos, and the Chitauri.

Seemingly sensing something amiss in Finney's tone, Nick Fury didn't answer, simply stating calmly, "Earth needs its own power."

"It does need power, but it depends on what kind."

Finney knew he couldn't stop Nick, but still couldn't help but offer a word of advice: "Pursuing power isn't wrong, but you can't pursue power you can't control."

Nick Fury was somewhat confused; he didn't yet have a clear plan to restart the Tesseract, so he didn't quite understand Finney's meaning.

Hearing the quiet reply on the other end of the phone, Finney sighed and continued, "In short, Asgard isn't an enemy right now; in fact, you could say they're a fairly solid ally."

  "Can you contact them?"

  Nick Fury pressed.

"No, but they have a gatekeeper named Heimdall who can see and hear many places on Earth. In case of any emergency, you might be able to try calling his name."

Nick Fury on the other end of the line looked doubtful, but he didn't say it aloud, only humming in acknowledgment.

  Then, the two hung up.

Finney looked out the window at the azure sky dotted with white clouds, wondering if another huge hole would one day appear in the sky.

Putting Thor's matter aside for the moment, Finney found Skye still practicing her abilities in the room. She was currently working on a piece of white paper, trying to make it vibrate.

Judging from the large pile of shredded paper in the trash can, she had been practicing for quite some time.

  "How's it going?"

Finney asked, walking over to Skye and looking at the constantly vibrating paper.

However, his interruption caused the vibrating paper to shatter into pieces, making the table shake several times. Skye glared at him, annoyed, and said, "It's all your fault! You almost broke the record."

  "Record?"

Finney looked at the shredded paper curiously.

"The longest I've ever made it vibrate at one frequency is one minute and thirty-two seconds,"

Skye said proudly, looking eager for praise.

Although she didn't know what made it so special, Finney still complied, saying, "Not bad! Not bad!"

Skye smiled happily, clearly pleased with Finney's praise. While tidying up the scraps of paper, she casually asked, "Nothing happened at school today, right?"

  "What could happen at school!"

Finney sat on the edge of the bed, watching Skye take out another piece of paper and continue practicing. She then asked, "Can you feel your progress like this?"

  "Of course!"

Skye answered matter-of-factly, "At first, I couldn't even hold it for ten seconds, but now I can hold it for over a minute without shattering them."

Watching Skye's earnest and diligent efforts, Finney felt that her talent in superpowers might be like Doctor Strange's for Kamar-Taj.

To put it nicely, it's called extraordinary talent; to put it bluntly, it's like having a cheat code.

However, Skye's rapid progress also worried Finney. The recoil from the vibrations wasn't small, and the stronger Skye's abilities became, the easier it was for her to injure herself.

Finney hoped that Tony's genius would allow him to develop some useful equipment; if not, he would have to think of another way.

Finney spent the entire afternoon helping Skye ruin the paper in the room. After countless sheets of paper were shredded, Skye's control over shockwaves finally improved significantly.

At least now, playing music wouldn't shatter all the cups.

With the Thor incident over, the troublesome May was finally over, and June's arrival seemed to bring little more than Finney's anticipation for summer vacation.

Skye had been making steady progress these past few days. Compared to his speed in learning the 'Mirror Space,' Skye's superpower training was progressing at lightning speed.

In just a few days, Skye could already play some melodies.

When Finney set this goal, he never expected Skye to achieve it in such a short time; this situation far exceeded his expectations.

Along with his progress, Skye's control over his abilities became increasingly effortless, and he even started playing pranks on Finney.

She deliberately made the water in her cup vibrate when drinking and the food vibrate when eating, leaving Finney speechless.

However, considering her rapid progress, Finney let her do as she pleased; after all, these small problems could be easily solved with a simple 'Golden Grand Evolution Technique'.

Amidst this rapid growth, Finney decided to take Skye to see Tony to discuss the wristbands.

"You're taking me to see Tony Stark!?"

Although she knew Finney had a good relationship with Iron Man, Skye didn't expect Finney to take her to see him and asked curiously, "What do you need him for?"

"Your ability might damage your arm. I asked him to make some equipment for you; I need to take some measurements,"

  Finney explained.

  "But I don't feel anything!"

Skye looked at her arm in confusion, seemingly unharmed.

"That's because you haven't fully unleashed your power yet."

Finney looked at Skye, wondering if he should let her unleash her full power to see how far she could go now.

But worried about the potential harm to her body, Finney ultimately decided to wait until Tony had developed the wristband before taking Skye to test it.

Because she was concerned about Tony's tendency to be sarcastic, Finney specifically chose a day when Pepper was available, hoping to introduce her to Skye as well.

As Finney expected, with Pepper present, Tony behaved unusually seriously, not daring to even glance at her, making Skye wonder if this was really the playboy who used to be on magazine covers every day!

  "So? Can you make it?"

After some testing, Finney asked Tony, while Skye and Pepper chatted happily nearby.

  "It's not scientific,"

Tony stroked his beard, looking at the data on the computer with a puzzled expression. "How did she change the wavelengths of these objects?"

"Just tell me if you can make it or not,"

Finney said directly, not wanting to hear any scientific data.

  "Give me three days."

Tony was clearly confident. He glanced at Pepper and Skye, who were still chatting, and suddenly grinned mischievously, whispering, "Is she really just your sister? I heard you're not related by blood?"

(I've been asking for votes for a long time, so I'm recommending a book for newbies: *Sanctuary Player*.)

By the way, I wrote the wrong release date in a previous chapter; it should have been released around June during summer vacation. I've corrected that.

Also, this chapter seems a bit filler, but the next phase of the plot is about to begin~ Look forward to it~
