Nora's POV
Panic grips my chest as worry gnaws at my insides like a living thing.
James is incredibly strong and faster than anything human, but still my mind races with terrible possibilities. He should reach the house before that wendigo catches up to him. Though honestly, I'm not even sure a wendigo would bother hunting a vampire in the first place.
They feed on living flesh. Vampires are technically dead.
I shut the door firmly and spin around to face the group of hunters scattered throughout the room. My three familiars position themselves protectively in front of me, sitting upright with their tails swishing in clear warning. Every person here knows they'll shift into their shadow forms and unleash hell if anyone makes a wrong move.
"What kind of chaos is happening out there?" Reina demands through gritted teeth, struggling to prop herself against the staircase. "You mentioned it was something dangerous."
