Nora's POV
The sphere of energy crashes into the earth below, exploding into countless fragments of brilliant azure light. Each piece burrows deep into the soil, flooding the jagged fissure with radiant power. The pure white essence forces the dark corruption backward, driving it into the depths where it belongs.
My body trembles as I watch, breath caught in my throat. This has to work. If it fails, then everything I believed about myself might be wrong. If it fails, maybe the darkness everyone fears really does live inside me.
The demon screams through Gideon's lips, and my head snaps toward the sound. My hands remain steady above the crack, channeling every ounce of power I can summon. The creature launches itself at me, but James moves like lightning. He tackles the possessed body to the ground, pinning it there.
My heart lurches at the sight. "Be careful with him," I shout, exhaustion creeping into my voice.
