Nora's POV
The keys catch the afternoon sunlight as I dangle them between my fingers. James and I have just walked out of the title company, our hands intertwined as we head toward his car. The house is officially ours now.
"Ready to start crossing rooms off our list?" James opens the passenger door with that familiar grin that makes my heart skip.
"Trust me, I'm dying to break in every corner of that place," I say, sliding into his Mercedes. "But maybe we should handle the black mold situation before I get naked anywhere in there."
"The cleanup won't take long before it's safe for you."
"Really?" I click my seatbelt into place. "I figured that kind of work takes forever."
"Only when humans handle it."
"Right. Vampires work faster."
His smile widens as he leans over to kiss me, fingers brushing my hair back gently. "I love seeing you happy like this."
"You're the reason I'm smiling."
