Nora's POV
"They're both healthy?" Ophelia breaks the heavy silence hanging in the room. "You and the baby?"
"Yes," Shane confirms, his voice carrying that familiar authoritative tone. "But don't try to rush anything, Nora."
"Trust me, I won't." I place a protective hand over my belly. "We haven't even finished the nursery yet."
"We can tackle that today," James suggests, squeezing my shoulder in that reassuring way of his. The gesture both calms and unsettles me. Part of me feels relief knowing we can handle the nursery preparations next week, but another part of me is spiraling into full panic mode about everything that needs to get done.
Because once that room is ready, there's no more pretending this isn't happening.
Having a baby changes everything. James and I are thrilled about starting our family, and I know in my bones we'll be the kind of parents I desperately needed growing up. But I can't shake the fear of how dramatically our lives are about to shift.
