Chapter 4 - Someone Was Watching

I knew something was off that day.

Not loud, not obvious. Just a feeling. Like someone was always just behind me, never close enough to see, but close enough to notice.

I didn't care.

People always watched heroes. I didn't move like a hero, so what did it matter?

Classes dragged on. I kept my head down. Phone in hand, game open. The bell rang, teachers shouted, but none of it touched me.

Still, the feeling stayed.

After school, I took a longer route home. Not to avoid anyone. Just habit. Nothing happened. Streets were full of kids, bikes, noises… normal.

It didn't matter.

But I wasn't alone.

Across the street, leaning against a wall, stood a woman. Calm. Observant. Nothing in her posture screamed danger. Yet I could tell she knew.

She watched me.

I ignored her.

She had already seen the video of last night. The raider. The way it went down. Perfectly clean. Too clean.

No wasted movement. No hesitation.

That kind of skill didn't come from a training academy. Not even a hero course.

She narrowed her eyes and whispered to herself.

"Found you."

I didn't hear her. I didn't care.

But someone like her doesn't just watch for fun.

And someone like me… doesn't stay invisible for long.
