Chapter 1 - SKETCHING HIS DESTINY

Bam Bam Bam

Victoria slammed the plates on the table where Arnold, Williams and Favour sat.

"Food is served", Victoria then said with a grin as Arnold bent down to begin eating.

"So, how you faring kid", Williams then turned to face Arnold, asking the question directly at him.

"Arnold turned around pushing the food on the desks".

Silence.

It had been about two months since Arnold lost his parents.

He was adopted by his aunt and her husband, Victoria and Williams who catered for him ever since.

He had learned to fare without them although whenever he was reminded, he frowned.

Victoria pushed Williams on the back while gesturing towards Arnold.

"I've lost my appetite", Arnold then said while leaving the room.

Victoria was devastated. "That boy never eats. Ever since his parents left".

Favour was the only daughter of Victoria while Arnold served as a foster brother to her.

Victoria hovered over the stairs towards the bedroom of Arnold while Favour and Williams continued eating.

Arnold had lived for years without having any of the sacred types.

His both parents had and so did his aunt and her husband.

The powers possessed in those types where beyond what the natural could comprehend.

Arnold always felt lonely, weak and powerless.

Whenever he saw Victoria fly or Williams levetate he always looked away.

Even Favour who was four years younger than him had been showing signs of gaining one of the types.

It was never enough for Arnold to believe he had the powers, he actually wanted to feel it.

His view of the sacred types was more of a way to avoid bullying, homework and even school altogether.

Victoria was part of the Salem group. Super strength, flying ability and many more where the abilities of her type.

She knocked down the door and saw Arnold burying his head in his pillow.

"What's wrong. Come and eat", Victoria tried to urge Arnold.

Silence.

Arnold didn't say a word.

Victoria walked up to the bed where Arnold laid.

"You know, your parents where good people. They would have hated to see you like this".

Arnold turned his face to direct his eyes towards the blue eyes of Victoria.

"What's that", Arnold then retorted pointing at the forehead of Victoria.

"I don't know", Victoria cooed.

"I noticed it after that unnecessary fight with that ego maniac", Victoria added.

Arnold chuckled.

The man she was talking about was a person who attacked her about two weeks back.

He had the Salem type while Victoria was powerless.

Williams rose to the rescue and weakened the man while Victoria slammed a bottle on his head leading to his death.

Victoria claimed to have seen a white light and a tattoo marker engraving a mark into her forehead.

It was at that moment that she had earned the Salem type.

"Yea, if not for your uncle Williams, I would have died", Victoria smirked her mark perfectly pronounced on her forehead.

Arnold chuckle soon turned into a frown.

"Why do you think I am not part of the gene", Arnold then faintly asked Victoria.

Victoria shrugged without an answer.

Victoria since that day had a hunch that killing a sacred type could earn you one of the types although she didn't have the proof of it as she was never use to having a sacred type.

The killing of that man was more or less like a reflex action.

She never anticipated to have earned his type but she did.

She was still having trouble earning all her abilities but she preferred to not show it in front of Arnold so as not to hurt his feelings.

"Well I'll be leaving. If you want to eat, Pls come down", Victoria then laid off a light kiss and then left the room.

Arnold had examined most of the Sacred Types but didn't know whether it was possible to earn a type by killing a recipient.

Arnold walked back down to the dining room and continued eating, his expression different from when he left.

Williams possessed the Fractal type.

Arguably, it was more powerful than the Salem type.

Williams had gained all his abilities and tried to help Victoria acquire all of her own.

The sense of self defense always dwell on the mind of Williams. He never let Arnold or Favour out of his sight.

Since Arnold had come to live with his aunt's, he had already known that Williams was proclaimed to be the most powerful man in the entire estate.

Whenever he walked by, people would bow down.

Some would run to their homes.

It was clear that this family lacked companions but Arnold didn't even consider the odds. All he wanted was to be as powerful as Williams.

"Aww, my foods cold", Arnold retorted breaking the silence.

In a flash of light, laser beams spread across the room heating up Arnold's food.

[Fourth Ability Earned: Laser eyes

Trigger: Foster Child]

Smoke swirmed around Victoria's eyes.

"What the hell happened?".

"My mommy just lasered Arnold's food'', Favour bounced around the chair.

Victoria couldn't move.

' Lasers, out of my eye', Victoria thought to herself although she didn't say a word.

Williams was just as outstanded. The heat emitting from her eyes was enough to burn down an entire building in like 2 seconds.

Everyone gaze shifted to Victoria who slowly came back to normal.

She held her forehead as her mark that once glimmered blue, returned to normal.

The trigger showed that her new ability was earned through Arnold's need for heat, although not even Arnold could see that coming.

It made him ever more jealous. As though Victoria intended to show off her eye lasers.

He turned towards his food and ate it in silence.

Then finally, Victoria fell to the floor.

It turns out that earning a new ability uses a lot of energy, energy that Victoria fails to have.

She fainted on the spot, Arnold showed no concern but instead kept on with his food.

Williams though was terrified.

So terrified that he rushed Victoria to the nearest hospital while using his telekinesis ability to get her through the area twice as fast.

Favour ran behind him and Arnold followed suit, eyes fixed on the road as though he was thinking of what to say.

He had never seen powers so extraordinary before.

He was still a bit young so he never understood the true powers of his parents.

He never noticed any eye lasers or telekinesis just like in the case of Victoria and Williams.

Although they travelled most of the time, Arnold failed to intel where they were going to.

He never knew much about his parents and it felt as though Victoria failed to tell him about them, as though she was hiding something.

'Well, I'm going to find out the truth'.
