Chapter 6 - Chapter 6:  First Time Obtaining Destiny

Chapter 6: First Time Obtaining Destiny

The effect of destiny points directly reversing cause and effect is simply too powerful!

Marcus was 100% certain that, in his clear memory, he definitely didn't know how to shoot firearms.

As for whether he knew how to shoot firearms before he was passively transported through time in the Time Cage, Marcus had no memory of it, but he figured he probably didn't.

Underground firearms training range.

Jackson looked at Williams's target and exclaimed, "Damn, Williams, your shooting is amazing!"

Williams laughed smugly, "I told you, I won first place in the shooting competition at Quantico."

"Boss, look..." Before Jackson could finish speaking, Marcus had already drawn his M1911 pistol.

"Bang bang bang..."

A series of rapid gunshots rang out, startling Jackson, who wasn't wearing hearing protection.

Marcus quickly fired eight bullets, then deftly switched magazines, fired eight more bullets in quick succession, and then put down his pistol.

Jackson looked at the target and immediately exclaimed in amazement, "Holy shit!"

Rodriguez also praised, "Wow!"

Williams's expression turned serious. He said, "Actually, the boss is even more amazing than you think. The boss fired sixteen bullets in rapid succession, and every single one landed in the bullseye. That's incredibly difficult."

Williams added, "Rapid shooting is much more difficult than regular shooting. If I fired as fast as the boss, it would be practically impossible to get more than 70 points."

Jackson exclaimed again, "Boss, you're incredible!"

Rodriguez didn't speak, but his eyes revealed amazement and admiration.

"Congratulations, host. The system has detected fluctuations in the River of Destiny and successfully acquired 1 point of Destiny. Please continue your efforts to acquire more Destiny points," the Transcendence System reminded Marcus in his mind.

Marcus ignored the Transcendence System for the time being. He had just finished demonstrating; he didn't have time to chat with the Transcendence System.

"Besides Williams, your marksmanship needs further practice. I'll tell you something confidential: our enemy is extraordinary. If you can't hit specific areas, it's very likely to be ineffective," Marcus said in a low voice.

Jackson also lowered his voice, tentatively asking, "Boss, who exactly is our enemy?"

"That's top secret. You just need to practice your marksmanship and wait for the operation to begin," Marcus didn't explain the existence of the Terminator.

It's 1984 now; what difference would it make even if he explained?

In this era, mobile phones are brick-sized. Who would believe in a Terminator unless it actually appeared before their eyes?

Around 8 PM, Marcus returned to his bachelor apartment. He finally had time to check the notification from the Transcendence System.

In the system's records, Marcus found the corresponding information: he had gained 1 destiny point.

"System, how did this destiny point come about?" Marcus asked curiously. He didn't seem to have changed any fate yet, did he?

"Given that the host's marksmanship impressed the three team members, leading them to formally acknowledge the host's leadership, and considering the potential variables that may arise when the host leads the team to confront a future crisis, thus impacting the River of Destiny, the system has successfully gained 1 destiny point."

Marcus nodded to himself. So even such a subtle change could grant destiny points?

"If I gather more resources and use the prepared forces to deal with the Terminator when it arrives, can I gain even more destiny points?" Marcus asked.

"Yes," the Transcendence System replied.

But Marcus sighed helplessly. Could he gather more resources?

It seemed impossible at the moment!

Even though Richard had resolved Marcus's identity issue, if Marcus secretly formed an armed force, even if Richard trusted him, he would likely conduct an investigation, and it might even attract investigations from other departments.

As for gaining more resources from the FBI's Los Angeles field office, that was even more impossible!

Richard had already stated that unless Marcus could produce more evidence, his support could only reach its current level.

Time passed day by day.

Marcus had established himself at the FBI's Los Angeles field office, but this also drew controversy. His special operations team never participated in any operations, never submitted any reports, and never provided any intelligence.

March 9th, nearly 6 PM.

Underground firearms training range.

Marcus was practicing moving targets; not only were the targets moving, but Marcus himself was also moving irregularly, even performing tactical evasive maneuvers.

Although Marcus could enhance himself through the Transcendence System, he had realized the importance of his destiny points.

Besides, Marcus currently only had 2 destiny points—his last trump card, which he had to conserve!

"Boss, what exactly is our mission? It's been over a month now, and the other agents in the office are all talking about it," Jackson asked impatiently.

In the past month, Jackson had made significant progress; in stationary target practice, his scores had consistently been above 75 rings—a truly remarkable improvement.

Williams's progress was relatively smaller, given his already high level of skill.

The quiet Rodriguez surprised Marcus.

Rodriguez, who had previously been unassuming, was now nearly on par with Williams, achieving near-perfect scores in stationary shooting and excellent results in moving targets.

When Jackson questioned Marcus, Rodriguez and Williams listened intently.

Over the past month, the pressure on Marcus's special operations team had increased dramatically, and Rodriguez and Williams had heard some rumors.

Marcus calmly responded, "The mission details are classified. Even the Boss doesn't know the specifics before the mission begins. You just need to know that our operation is extremely important. As for the discussions among colleagues, I hope you can withstand the pressure."

"I can only tell you that as long as you withstand the pressure, you will definitely have a bright future." Marcus also felt the pressure, but the effect of reversing cause and effect was too good; Richard had taken on the pressure for him.

Richard had given Marcus six months, and he would give him six months. He had already spoken with Marcus and told him not to feel pressured.

"Understood!" Jackson took a deep breath. "By the way, boss, shall we continue target practice? Every day is target practice, firing thousands of bullets a day. I feel like I'm going crazy!"

Rodriguez and Williams echoed his sentiment. For the past month or so, they had indeed been firing thousands of bullets every day. Otherwise, how could their marksmanship have improved so quickly?

Marcus considered for a moment before speaking, "Eight o'clock tonight, The Frozen Margarita. I'll give you a small task."

"A mission?" Jackson's eyes lit up. "Boss, tell me what the mission is!"

Marcus didn't speak. He pointed to his watch and reminded the three team members to assemble on time.
