"Woaaa… dos clou ar movin weally fas" Inv says in awe.
"Yeah, probably cause it's raining everywhere else right now" I say back to him.
"Hmm??? Noaw dat i tink abou et… y esnt et waining her???" Inv asks in confusion while looking around us.
'Did he just now realize that?'
"I'm not sure myself, all I know is if we leave this certain area right now, we will uhh… die right away" I scratch the back of my ear while saying that last part. I don't wanna say stuff like that out loud in front of Inv, but it would probably be best to keep him informed.
'I don't need him running off into one of the pipes that leads out of here! I need him in that shelter ASAP!
"Oh…" I can see Inv's ears plop down in response to my words.
"Dos dat meen we cen sta her foreva?" I hear Inv quietly ask.
"What?" I look at him a bit surprised. What does he mean by that?
"W-wel eve sence meatin u notin ba has hapen… et… et weally nic…" Inv says while watching the grey distant clouds.
"Inv…"
I don't know how I can respond to this. The only reason why nothing bad has happened so far is because the 'cycle' is over. Me and Inv got extremely lucky meeting in the one area where it doesn't rain… also since I saved the popcorn plant, Inv won't have to worry about food this cycle.

But once we fall asleep and wake up the next cycle… it won't be so easy…
"Joey?"
I look back at Inv.
"We can't stay here forever Inv… even if it doesn't rain here there wouldn't be a guarantee we'd be able to find enough food for the both of us…"

"B-bu… et dangerus…" Invs skin turns a darker shade of blue while saying this.
"I know Inv… but it's also dangerous here, it's… dangerous everywhere…" thinking more and more about it, I can't think of a single area that would be somewhat safe for us…
I was so blinded by the fact that I wasn't alone anymore that I didn't even think how we would be able to live together…

"I'm… sure you know how it is out there Inv… everything wants to kill us…"

"Mhm…" Inv nods slowly.

"I can't guarantee we'll be able to find someplace safe to live…"

I slowly raise my paw and move it towards Invs paw. I don't forcefully grab his paw. I just leave my paw open in front of his.
"But… we won't have to be alone anymore now… we have each other" Invs eyes widen a bit hearing my words.
"J-joey…"

Inv raises his paw towards mine. Slowly Opening his paw his fingers wrap around mine.

"Tank u"

For a bit I stand in silence looking out over the ledge watching the grey clouds pass by while holding Inv's paw.

'This… is nice'

"You ok now Inv?" I break the silence turning my head to Inv.
Inv stares out towards the grey clouds a moment longer then takes a deep breath and exhales. I can also see his skin has fully turned back to its normal blue.
Inv turns his head towards me.
"Mhm! I feal beter noaw!" Inv says excitedly.
'That's good… I can figure out those problems in the future… just gotta take it one step at a time'
"Su ware dis fud et Joey???" Inv asks. I can see him starting to drool as well.
"I'm surprised you haven't seen it yet honestly"
I point down below us over the ledge with my free paw.
"It's right there" I say while pointing at the popcorn plant.
Inv looks down at the popcorn plant. Instead of the excited expression I was expecting I see Inv only look confused?
"Wha es dat?" Inv looks back at me cooking his head in confusion.
'He seriously doesn't know what a popcorn plant is?!'
"T-that's a popcorn plant… have… have you never eaten from one before?" I ask in surprise and shock.
"Hmmmm… I hav se on bu I didn kno u cud ea et" Inv says while observing the popcorn plant.

'Wow… I should really stop being surprised at this point… I would've thought he would at least know what a popcorn plant is… its basically full food pips for a cycle!'
"Well get ready Inv because this is the good stuff! I'll pop this bad boy open and…" I stop mid-sentence as I realize I didn't bring the spear I was using earlier with me…
'Damn it! How did I forget about it?!'
"Joey?" I hear Inv say my name in concern.
"Hold on Inv I just gotta find a spear real quick…" I look at Inv and say this.
Turning around back in the corridor I spot the carcass of the dropwig I killed earlier. Spotting the spear near it I thank my earlier self that I decided to leave it.
"Inv I'm gonna grab that spear over there alright?" I point towards the spear that I see in the distance. Inv looks towards where I'm pointing and also spots the spear.
"D-don wory! Me go et!!!" Before I can even respond to this, I see Inv dash off towards the spear.
'Holy shit'
Seeing how fast Inv is able to run, I'm left stunned. How is he able to run so fast?
Seeing him grab the spear in literal seconds I see him turn around and start running at me at full speed.
Seeing this I grow a bit fearful he'll run full force into me. Before I can even decide to move, Inv is already almost in front of me.
Thankfully Inv is able to fully stop right in front of me without colliding into me.
"H-hera Joey!!! I go spera!!!" Inv holds up the spear to me as if he's giving away his most prized possession.
"T-thanks Inv" I carefully grab the spear from Invs paws.
"Ye ye ye!!!" I can hear Invs tail thumping on the ground in excitement while he gives me the spear.
'Strong and fast… that's definitely helpful in a world like this'
Yet I got stuck in the most normal version of a slugcat…

A/N: ugh, sorry for the mopey moment. it just felt right to give them a slight reality check of the situation there still in.
Also, the story is close to invading the top 200 fanfic board for power stones! sure it would only be at the very bottom, but it would still be really cool! just imagine scrolling through all the generic anime and tv show thumbnails through the list and then BAM! you just see a Inv plushie completely out of the norm.
