The drive felt longer than it actually was.

Jett didn't even realize how tight his grip was on the steering wheel until his knuckles started to ache.

The streetlights passed in slow intervals, washing the inside of the car in brief flashes of orange. The quiet inside the car was thick, the silence making him feel like he couldn't breathe properly.

He was starting to regret everything, his mind would not shut up. It kept replaying everything.

Jett exhaled through his nose, jaw tightening.

He pushed too hard, he knew it. He knew it the second the words left his mouth.

He hadn't wanted to accuse Jamie of anything. He hadn't wanted to make it about himself. But the jealousy, the frustration and the helplessness of seeing Jamie shut down in front of him because of some fucker, who didn't even deserve him, twisted his words into something sharper.

Jett shook his head and leaned back against the seat, eyes barely focused on the road.
