Jace's word hung in the air like a gunshot.
Jamie and Jett sprang apart so fast Jamie stumbled back into the counter, knocking the spoon off the table. Jett looked at him wide eyed like he'd been caught committing a crime, a crime he wasn't even sorry about.
Jace stood in the kitchen doorway, staring at them with wide eyes and an expression that shifted in slow, hilarious stages.
Jamie gauged his brother's expressions, realizing the cat was out of the bag.
First it was confusion, the processing. Realization followed soon after.
Then something that looked dangerously close to delight, that was the worst expression far, and that one scared Jamie the most.
Jamie's face went red so fast it felt like his skin was on fire.
"Jace-" he started.
"Oh my God," Jace breathed.
Jamie closed his eyes.
"OH MY GOD."
"Shut up." Jamie snapped instantly.
