When I got up in the morning and had myself a good breakfast with coffee. The next week would be long and annoying as I was going to work on the stealth suits used the night before. I'd noticed some inconsistencies in them compared to the base version I'd taken from the quartermaster. It had been a massive headache just replicating them but I now had problems to solve, which pointed at me not replicating the original very well.
When I finally got to my office I pulled out my secret weapon against the annoying suit, mentats. I'd built up a lot of different chem groups but the one that remained stubbornly low were mentats. The mentats I pulled out was the most powerful form the drug took, berry flavor. It was much more powerful than all it's counterparts in intelligence increases so I'd saved it for something special. Combining it with calmex made my mind feel like I could do anything.
I quickly stripped down a suit and corrected every small problem and even improved some of them. If only I could get ahold of a stealthboy. I continued to work, even adding color change scales that rapidly switched with each other to match the environment. The scales had been a burst of enlightenment for me and had completely changed the design.
An hour into remaking the armor I crashed hard. I dum. I go sleep. Wake smarty after. I then passed out after, in my stupidity, took multiple sleeping pills.
I woke up feeling like shit as someone literally dragged me out of bed. I'd passed out in my working clothes with my shoes still on. It was uncomfortable getting dragged through the halls but I let whoever it was continue as she(?) was going towards the canteen. As I was dragged in I noticed that Clay, Moore, and Oliver were sitting and discussing something with lots of papers on a table.
I stood to find that the one to drag me here was Veronica who stomped off after completing her mission. I slowly went and got whatever food was available and four coffees. I joined the adults table and coffee were grabbed. I started eating while going over a paper Moore handed me. I made a bit of a mess with my food as I was nearly completely absorbed by the Brotherhood of Steel and NCR alliance proposal. It was mostly promises of not attacking each other and sharing some stuff.
When I finally looked up Moore practically beat me with napkins while Oliver and Clay shared some kind of knowing look. I gave them both a suspicious glare which earned me a smirk from both. As I cleaned up I added and removed some things from the lists they had made while making sure the BOS had access to a power supply from the dam.
That would count as completing their mission in the Mojave and allow them to grow better. The NCR was nice and all but it was corrupt to its bones. It would need to face near destruction and have a good leader build it back up with a not system not based off old world governments. The Brotherhood of Steel was close to this but made the mistake of allowing the older generation more power than they should have.
If this chapter of the Brotherhood grew it could potentially lead to a good leader taking it and taking command of other chapters in the west like maxson had eventually done in the east.
I took a sip of coffee as I worked on the papers while both Oliver and Clay looked at me like I'd grown a second head. I'd added a lot of stuff to the papers that massively benefited both factions while showing off my knowledge of the two groups. To Clay it was blatantly obvious that I knew way more than I should about the eastern chapters.
Oliver was surprised by the nearly invisible cuts I'd made, preventing corrupt NCR leadership from doing anything. I personally didn't want those dumbasses fucking around and finding out by giving us more enemies. If they did that I'd probably just take everything and everyone I could and go to West Virginia where we could probably take the abandoned enclave bunker for ourselves, if the BOS hadn't already done so.
I might just do that anyway as it was a good idea. After messing with the papers and eating some more I left and got to work on my favorite robots. Eyebots were fun to work with when you knew what you were doing. We'd just gotten some more so I needed to make them way better. I'd long since learned how to make simple AI minds for bots so giving the flying balls this upgrade was first.
While the five bots floated around talking with each other in their beeping language I worked on one at a time. The first to go was the shell which guarded their internals. I removed their sensors which would cause them to freak out till I replaced them with the much better ones Clay and I had designed. Next I replaced their boosters with high flyers and added two fission batteries to power them effectively. Then I mounted two four shot missile batteries and a more powerful laser gun. Finally I replaced their shell and added the stealth scales for near invisiblility in the sky.
Lastly I connected them to one terminal each and had Moore send some troopers appropriate for using the eyebots. I spent the rest of the week training them in how to use the bots and helping General Oliver understand all he could do with them. He immediately wanted to send them after Cesar but they became completely independent bots past a few miles.
After making sure he knew how to use them I began a new vehicle project. It was meant to make near infinite range tanks. First I upscaled the tank design and added a large dozer blade. After the model was finished we equipped it with two more engines, both powered by MF breeders. The last addition was a large module on th back with four deployable Mr.Handys and two eyebots programmed to maintain, repair and defend the tank if necessary. Last was the crew, four men all trained on everything the tank needed in order to be used. The tank was armed with a grenade machine gun and a twin heavy recharger laser cannon.
The first two took a month to make and test then we sent the design to Shady Sands for a proper production facility to be built. These tanks could expand NCR power and reinforce it with ease.
Our second month was highlighted by Christine making a micro missile design. They reminded me of the red glare rocket shots but without the massive red light that screamed jump out of the way. We immediately put an MM pod on the arm of every exoskeleton as the missiles had the power of grenades but much better accuracy and range.
I also equipped the eyebots with MM pods rather than the missiles. While updating the eyebots General Oliver found out that eyebots can be linked to a person as protection so he ordered a bunch of eyebots be sent to us. I worked on the eyebots and their users for the rest of the year till almost anyone important to the NCR had one.
I of course got one for myself with much better weapons and armor. I also found out that the BOS and NCR of the Mojave would finally begin peace talks as McNamara had settled as Elder. The talks began a few days later with Oliver and McNamara meeting in Boulder City as a mostly neutral ground. I an many others joined while we brought Clay and the initiates with us. The BOS were glad to have them back and the alliance treaty was signed a week later.
With the treaty came the ability to make power armor. Most of it, while simple, was expensive. The complicated parts I'd never been able to replicate was the fusion generator on the back and the sensor system for the force feed back controls. A majority of the cost came from those parts and even with the president himself signing off on resources for their creation we still struggled to build them.
While struggling to build some more power armor I was alerted to an attack on the dam. Legion Frumentarii had snuck in and sabotaged some things and kidnapped multiple people. Two majors, colonel Moore, and multiple engineers. General Oliver had mobilized a large force to hunt them down and get them back. They all had massive value for the legion and we couldn't let them fall into enemy hands.
I prepared by putting on one of the four suits of power armor we made with the other quickly getting filled by the men trained to use them. With us was twenty exo soldiers and Paladins Clay, Fairbanks, and Hughs. Everyone of us wielded the blaster cannon Clay and I had designed and lots of explosives. We set out the second we could, tracking every step the legion took with a special eyebot Veronica and Christine had made.
Its powerful sensors allowed us to track the targets at a jog and easily hunt them down. They took a cut through the mountains towards Cottonwood Cove past Camp Forlorn Hope which was attacked right before we got there. We caught up right outside the cove and jumped the group of frumentarii.
