Chapter 6 - ch2.3

Liam, on the other hand, was practically dying on the inside. He had simply declined most dances from other duchess's and ladies.

Parties, such as these, were nothing he'd choose to go to.

He'd preferably read in the castle library, or duel with Damien.

Yet, he fondly missed the various balls he attended as a child. Ever since the war between Larion and Pomepai began, very few of the gatherings remained. They were never the same. Lesser guests would arrive and his father would try his best to keep everyone enclosed.

though that was hardly ever the trouble.

"Lord Aristo, now where's our warm welcoming?"

He turned in a tedious motion as his eyes bared before him three kids, his height exact.

"Lady Ashleigh Vasquez of Règle, Ricardo Roberts Duke of Unità and Lord Flynn Andrade of Königin, welcome to my sister's betrothal." Liam spoke in a clearly annoyed way.

"I see you've been declining such esteemed dance requests, why so?"Lady Vasquez questioned "Perchance, you would be delighted to take me upon the stroll?"

Interrupting, The Duke of Untià agreed.

"I am truly sorry, but my dance card seems to be full at this moment" Liam lied, only to get out of their sight. " Another day perhaps! Now… if you'll excuse me"

He scurried off outside and into the courtyard where the stars were shining brightly above.

However lounging amid the freshly cut grass, was Damien.

He was dressed in his 'one time only occasional' suit. He seemed to calmly be relaxing among the warm plants, it was the perfect, a plain sight, hide away.

Liam strolled towards him ever so slowly. He was for sure pleased that he noticed someone he knew well.

The knight rotated the angle of his head as the Prince rested beside him in a cross-legged position .

"Seems you've found a place to escape to Dae?"

Liam uttered as he found himself quite close to Damien.

Damien smirked, focusing on the prince, "Well, I suppose it's more pleasant this way. Other than dancing, however, spelling out I'm not an upperclassman is quite tiring ."He sighed.

"I suppose." Liam bowed his head.. "You are daringly handsome though, so who'd have thought by any chance your dance card isn't full now… Is it?"

A questionable expression was displayed among Damien's face as he moved upright, now shoulder to shoulder with Liam. "Handsome is overstretching, and why should you know?" He snickered, "Perhaps, you wouldn't care to have a dance would you?"

"HUH?!" The Prince was caught completely offguard, his tone gesturing a higher pitch. Contemplating his whole life, Liam then pulled Damien's ear close as he whispered, "I- I mean, I wouldn't…mind.." He stuttered so obviously.

He froze. Damien sat up, with his face turned away from Liam, "Very well then!" The Knight stood up, dusting the grass of his clothing. "Shall we?"He grinned.

Flustered, Liam bowed as he placed himself in front holding out his hand patiently before Damien strode upon the opportunity to take it.

He gently placed his right hand along Liam's waist gripping it gracefully.

Hearing the faint sounds of music, the two waltzed around the courtyard, out of sight, out of mind. Thriving through the very few stumbles of the Prince; it brought a smile to Damiens face.

They danced until their faces were brought close together, their eyes locked into position.

It was all sudden when a well dressed Noble approached the duo entering the scene. Imelda Swanson of Arytheia, located near the outskirts South west of Larion, stood, arms crossed glaring at the Prince, "How suppose is the darling Prince meant to be swooning the ladies by instead fooling with the commoners!"

Completely belittled, Liam froze, his hand placed upon the knight's shoulder as his other gripped within Dae's hand. He was dumbfounded. Today had only seemed full of interruptions.

Out of loss of hope , Damien swiftly dropped his arms yet still fiercely held onto Liams palms, "Ma'am as to no offence, isn't it quite cold for a well-dressed, but quite frail lady to be agitated outside? Perhaps we could all go inside, rest assured." With a stern expression, looking towards Liam.

"Agreed." Liam stated swiftly.

"I suppose the weather does have quite a chill now. Though Prince Cynfael, I will not let this slip the next time however as this is your half-sister's betrothal, all eyes shouldn't be on you!" She exclaimed, gesturing her arms in every direction.

"Right."
