Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Reborn on Rigel-3

When you die, and you get to choose if you wish to reincarnate into a random world with no memories, or into a different world with your memories intact, you should probably read the fine print.

If you choose to reincarnate into the world of Marvel Comics, you need to remember a lot of things.

One of those many things is that you don't really choose WHO you reincarnate as. You might be reborn as just your average Joe Schmoe. Sure, you'll exist in the same world as fantastic characters like Doctor Strange and The Incredible Hulk, but it's not really that different from living a regular life in a regular world.

A second thing to remember is that you don't choose WHEN you reincarnate. You might find yourself born in a doomed future under the tyrannical rule of the powerful Maestro, or you can be born far into the past when kings and knights still ruled nations from castles of marble and brick.

And third, and likely most important thing to remember, is that you don't choose WHAT you reincarnate as. Sure, it'll probably be a sapient and intelligent species, but what's the point of reincarnating if you'll spend the rest of your life as a regular house cat? The real issue is that Humans aren't the only species in the universe. And in a universe full of alien civilizations that rule galactic empires that cover stretches of the cosmos, the chances of being reborn as a Human on planet Earth are incredibly slim.

But, hey. Being an Alien isn't all bad. Especially not when your species has innate powers.

---------------------------------------------

The name he was given was Targoth of the house Vandak. A child born of a Noble Rigellian Mother and a nameless Sirusite Father.

Targoth Vandak, or merely Targoth, was a peculiar child, even by Rigellian standards.

At age 5, he used his psionic abilities for the first time, and promptly swore off using them outside of self-defense and reconnaissance, stating to his guardian, "When I looked into their mind, it was as if I was looking at a book, every secret was written out before me, every mystery was solved, every question already answered. And I took a pen, and wrote my own words into the book, and I watched as pages upon pages morphed and twisted to fit my new addition. The book was bending like a mass of information given form, trying to make sense of the anomaly that has taken root inside its own memory. It was disgusting, I hated it. I do not wish to see such a sight anymore."

When his teachers asked him to elaborate, he refused to do so.

---------------------------------------

Rigellians are a peculiar species.

They have the numbers and the technology to contend with the heavy hitters of the Galaxy, and yet they refuse to do so.

Sure, they may not have the sheer numbers of the Skrulls, the military might of the Kree, or even the detached ruthlessness of the Shi'ar.

But out of them all, the Rigellians are by far the best in the field of Science and Robotics. Their science experiences surpass even the technology-fueled empire of the Kree.

While the Kree waste resources on endless wars and attempts at reaching genetic superiority, and the Skrulls continue to look outward into the stars instead of focusing on the resources already available to them, the Rigellians have achieved a sort of post-scarcity society, where energy and food are long-forgotten problems that most will never need to contend with.

Yet, despite achieving a sort of Utopian society, Rigellians grew disgruntled with the results. So they ventured into the stars, laying claim to myriads of planets, and earning themselves the universal nickname of The Colonizers. A name Rigellian society wore with honor.

The Colonizers of Rigel, they were called, and the Colonizers of Rigel they were.

-----------------------------------------

At age 7, Targoth began taking lessons in all manner of martial arts, both local to the planet of Rigel-3 and foreign.

When asked by his cousin, he responded with the words, "The Body is an artistic tool, each movement another drop of paint on a canvas, each muscle an exotic blend of colors and textures, all swirling together to create the masterpiece that is my temple. To work on the body is to paint the temple with colors so brilliant and bright. Why should I limit myself to the colors available here when the universe has such a magnificent palette to choose from?"

When asked by his cousin to elaborate, he responded by saying, "I don't know, I'm just making stuff up as I go."

----------------------------------------

Rigellians are born with innate psionic powers that manifest in two distinct ways.

The Mental, and the Physical.

The Mental psionic powers of the Rigellians allow for the species to delve into the minds of others, granting them control over the psyche of other beings. This control can take the form of mind reading, brainwashing, or even simple telepathy.

The Physical psionic powers of the Rigellians allow for the species to control the density of their bodies. Increasing their physical strength and durability to levels that allow those who trained in the psionic arts to contend with some of the strongest species in the Universe.

There is, however, a theoretical third power. One that will only become available to Rigellians who have mastered the psionics of both the Mind and the Body. Although the existence of this third ability is debated among scholars, it is commonly regarded as no different than a fairy tale.

------------------------------------

At age 12, Targoth began training the Psionic powers of his body, and by the time he reached 13, he could already lift 4 without the use of a power suit.

At age 17, he finished his higher education studies in robotics and engineering and entered the Rigellian exploration training courses.

By age 19, Targoth was already working on a deep-space exploration cruiser.

At age 20, Targoth decided that he did not wish to remain in the field of deep space exploration. He wanted something exciting in his life, something that would bring up mysteries for him to explore.

And so at age 24, Targoth Vandak stepped onto a spaceship as the only living being on board, charted a course to a planet that was overlooked as a backwater waste in the infancy of its prehistory, and flew off on his first real mission.

His name was Targoth Vandak, a Rigellian from the Planet Rigel-3, and he was a Space Explorer.

Little did he know the impact his future would leave on the Universe at large.

His name was Targoth Vandak, a Rigellian from the Planet Rigel-3, and he was a Hero.
