Chapter 23 - Crushing

"How is this possible? My ability is actually ineffective against it!" Seeing the Tyrant rapidly approaching, Hu Yanning's pupils constricted, and he subconsciously took half a step back.

Bang!

The Tyrant didn't care what he was thinking. It rushed in front of Hu Yanning, its massive fist striking him like a heavy cannon.

"Damn it!" Hu Yanning's expression changed drastically. He stretched out his hands, and all the energy in his body began to surge forward.

Buzz! A more savage repulsive force appeared, colliding with the Tyrant, causing its charging body to sway slightly.

The next moment, it continued to advance, completely unaffected, pushing through the transparent, distorted repulsive force.

Crack! Crack!

Sweat appeared on Hu Yanning's face. The ground in front of him continuously shattered, and fragments of earth and stone splattered forward, cutting through the air with whooshing sounds. If an ordinary person stood in front, they would be riddled with holes by the dense soil fragments.

However, standing in front of him was the Tyrant. The hard stones shattered into dust upon hitting its body.

Hu Yanning watched the purple monster, wrapped in distorted repulsive force, two meters away. It was completely unharmed, only its eyes showing a look of disdain.

Despair appeared on his face. At this distance, he couldn't escape. "How could I encounter a monster with such a powerful physical body? I'm not reconciled!"

He was a Level Three Awakened, the captain of Xuanjian Division's Fifth Group, and someone who might very well break through to Level Four in the future!

The Tyrant, however, ignored him. Its left hand broke through the repulsive force and grabbed his head, under his unwilling gaze.

Bang! The next instant, its left hand suddenly exerted force, smashing Hu Yanning's upper body onto the ground. The cement caved in and exploded, and shattered stones flew everywhere like bullets.

It released Hu Yanning's bloody upper body and charged towards the direction where the soldiers were.

On the other side, on the street where the soldiers were, they felt their scalps tingle as they listened to the terrifying roars constantly coming from behind them.

"Ahhh!"

"Run!"

"Get out of the way! Don't block my path!"

Screams came, and terrified crowds were everywhere, scrambling to escape on the narrow path. Just as they were focused on whether the monster was catching up,

Amidst the chaotic crowd, a young man wearing a mask and a black hat, dressed in a white T-shirt, quickly pushed aside the surrounding people and rushed towards the soldiers.

The soldiers behind him, seeing this, thought he was just a civilian trying to escape and didn't pay him any mind.

Li Yong looked at the soldiers who were already a few meters away, a cold sneer appearing at the corner of his mouth beneath the mask.

He suddenly gripped the kukri knife in his hand in a standard grip and abruptly slashed at the necks of two soldiers behind him.

Pfft! The two soldiers running forward heard a whooshing sound from behind them. Before they could even turn their heads, two heads flew high into the air.

This commotion also made the soldiers running ahead turn back. When they saw their comrades decapitated, their expressions changed drastically: "Watch your backs!"

Saying that, he raised his gun to shoot the masked man.

After using the buddha crystal, their speed was simply too slow in Li Yong's eyes.

Swish! With a movement of his feet, he instantly charged into the group of soldiers. Before they could disperse, the kukri knife in his hand slashed to the right.

Pfft! Under the immense force, one soldier, along with his gun, was diagonally split in half.

"Three people!" Li Yong's expression was cold. He didn't retract the long blade in his hand but instead used the momentum to slash across the throat of an adjacent soldier.

"Ahhh!" A soldier behind him, watching Li Yong charge in and mercilessly hack, roared with rage and fired his rifle directly at him.

Bang bang bang!

Just a second before the shots were fired, Li Yong, who had his back to him, suddenly exerted force to his front left and rolled on the ground.

The bullets directly hit several passersby fleeing in the distance.

"Ah!" At this moment, the surrounding civilians who were also fleeing watched the unlucky people shot dead by bullets, then looked at the several soldiers who had been hacked to death, and fled from them in horror.

A young man in a suit turned pale. There was a monster behind them, and soldiers were firing indiscriminately ahead. He was on the verge of collapse: "What in the world is happening? Isn't our Nanwu Country a peaceful nation? How could it suddenly be like this?"

"Stop your damn lamenting, escaping with your life is more important!" A middle-aged man beside him, sweating profusely, cursed at the young man's words and turned to run.

Among the soldiers ahead, with a one-second foresight and the enhancement of formidable physical attributes, in just four or five seconds, seven of the soldiers who had been engaged in close combat were already dead.

Around them were either civilians or their teammates, which made them very hesitant when firing.

The soldier captain looked at this scene. He then glanced at Dong Guangjie beside him; this terrifyingly skilled man was clearly also after Dong Guangjie.

He aimed his gun at Dong Guangjie and roared, "Stop! If you move again, I'll shoot him dead!"

Upon hearing this, Li Yong's knife, which was originally slashing at the next soldier, shifted to knock away his gun. With a swift movement, he appeared behind the captain, placing the knife against his neck, confronting the remaining three soldiers.

"Leave the person, and I can let you leave alive." Li Yong stared at them with icy eyes.

"Impossible!" The soldier captain's expression changed. So many people had died; if the person was still taken, he would definitely face a military court.

Dong Guangjie raised his eyebrows, completely unconcerned by the situation, and instead looked at Li Yong with some curiosity: 'I wonder which organization he belongs to, to have such a monstrous existence.'

Beside him, the other two soldiers nervously aimed their guns at Li Yong, who was a few meters away. Their breathing was ragged, and their eyes occasionally darted to the corpses of the other soldiers on the ground.

Who would have thought that in just a few seconds, seven of their armed group would be hacked to death by someone with a knife?

Thump thump thump!

Not long after their standoff, the sound of heavy objects hitting the ground came from the distant street.

Hearing this commotion, Li Yong sneered, "You have a few seconds to decide whether to let him go. When that monster arrives, it won't negotiate with you."

The soldier captain's heart sank upon hearing the commotion. If it were a human, he could try to threaten and force them back, but a monster...

"Captain, that monster is coming soon, what do we do!" A soldier beside him said in a panic. That monster's skin couldn't even be penetrated by bullets.

Li Yong saw this and continued in a cold voice, "Throw down your guns, and you can leave alive. You don't have much time left to consider!"

The soldier captain's face changed several times. Finally, he pushed Dong Guangjie forward and threw his firearm on the ground: "Let him go, we're retreating!"

The two soldiers next to him also quickly threw down their weapons and turned to run, because the terrifying figure of the monster had already appeared at the entrance of the alley.

Li Yong didn't make things difficult for them. He pushed the soldier beside him, grabbed Dong Guangjie, and ran towards the Tyrant.

With his current strength, grabbing an ordinary person weighing over a hundred pounds with one hand was effortless.

"Which organization do you belong to? What exactly is that monster? I never knew an Awakened could turn into a monster before."

Dong Guangjie, held in his hand, blurted out all the questions in his mind.

"Someone will answer you later." Li Yong merely said this and then ignored him.
