After explaining the battle plan, Mu Nianbing flashed to the top of a tall building overlooking Sea Battle City.
From above, he could clearly see two enormous Blue Valley Ferocious Li Beasts wreaking havoc, their roars echoing through the half-deserted city.
Fortunately, few civilians lived here—only merchants, soldiers, and hunters were stationed nearby.
The beasts' massive upper bodies were covered in scales that gleamed like cold steel, each joint lined with razor-sharp barbs.
Their four hammer-like arms could easily pulverize anything in their path, and their shrimp-like lower halves, covered with dozens of sharp legs, propelled them faster than most Commander-level monsters.
The First Battle
One of the Blue Valley Ferocious Li Beasts charged toward Ai Jiangtu and his team. Mu Nianbing didn't stop it—he wanted to see how they handled it under pressure.
The second beast, however, fixed its gaze on Mu Nianbing. With terrifying strength, it tore a nearby building from its foundation and hurled it at him.
Mu Nianbing reacted instantly—his body flashed, vanishing from sight. The next moment, he reappeared above the monster's head.
The top of the creature's skull had a small, unarmored gap between its scales—a perfect weak point.
The beast roared and swung its massive barbed arms toward him.
"Myriad Flower Ice Mirror!"
A crystalline barrier formed around Mu Nianbing, blocking the blow.
He followed with a dozen Ice Chains, locking down its limbs, then formed a long, slender Ice Sword in his hand.
He thrust the blade straight through the gap in the creature's skull.
A jet of blood erupted—but froze midair, crystallizing into scarlet ice.
Frost spread from the wound, rapidly freezing the creature from within until its body turned into a towering ice sculpture.
A Commander-level monster, defeated in just two moves.
If Mu Nianbing had used Mystic Ice Dragon Ascension, it would have been finished even faster.
He exhaled softly, seeing a faint blue glow in the frozen body. "Good luck… it dropped a Spirit Essence."
He sealed the valuable item into a spirit vessel. Money wasn't everything—but without it, survival in this world was impossible.
The Team's Fight
Across the street, Mu Ningxue had already activated her domain.
"Domain—Ice Wind Nirvana!"
In an instant, the entire district became a blizzard of slicing wind and snow.
Her domain combined freezing suppression and continuous assault, reducing the water-type monster's mobility.
Ai Jiangtu coordinated perfectly, using his Space Element magic to confine the monster's movements even further.
The others, mostly Middle-level Mages, stayed back and launched ranged attacks.
"This thing's weakness is its head!" Mu Nianbing's calm voice echoed through their communicators.
That one line renewed everyone's morale.
As long as the captain was there, victory always felt certain.
Ai Jiangtu was stunned—Mu Nianbing had already taken down one Commander? The man's strength bordered on terrifying.
Even most High-level Mages couldn't do that so quickly.
He took a deep breath, locking eyes on the monster's head.
Under Mu Ningxue's Great Ice Lock Array, the Blue Valley Ferocious Li Beast was already struggling.
Her Ice Seed had recently evolved to the Soul Seed level—fivefold amplification—making her control nearly unrivaled among the team.
Though not yet a top-tier Soul Seed, it combined perfectly with her innate Spirit Seed talent.
"Flash!"
A silver constellation flared under Ai Jiangtu's feet as he teleported behind the beast.
"Ghost Punishment!"
His eyes dimmed, a hollow light flickering within them. Above the monster's skull, a colossal ghostly shadow materialized, clawing at the gap on its head.
The attack didn't tear flesh—it tore the soul.
The Blue Valley Ferocious Li Beast howled, its body convulsing as invisible claws shredded its spiritual core. Though still physically intact, the agony was unbearable.
Weakened and disoriented, the monster couldn't break free. Its exposed head became the team's target.
Under a barrage of elemental attacks, its skull finally burst apart—ending the fight.
"We… actually killed a Commander-level beast?" Jiang Yu muttered, still in disbelief.
Although it had taken all eleven of them, most were still only Middle-level Mages. Achieving that much was already impressive.
"This was thanks to the captain's guidance," Ai Jiangtu said quietly, though his tone carried no pride.
Compared to Mu Nianbing's effortless victory, their result felt insignificant.
Heading to the Mission Site
"Good work, everyone," Mu Nianbing said evenly. "Now that both beasts are down, let's proceed to the mission site. Nan Jue, you take the lead."
"Understood," Nan Jue replied, stepping forward to guide the way.
Under her direction, the team entered a tall administrative building in Sea Battle City.
A sharp-chinned man in his thirties greeted them. As he spoke, his eyes kept drifting toward Nan Jue—specifically, to her long, toned legs.
Among the female members, Nan Jue's figure wasn't the most delicate, but her legs were undeniably striking.
Before anyone could react, the man let his gaze linger one second too long.
"Look again," Mu Nianbing said coldly, raising his hand.
A wave of psychic force seized the man by the chin, lifting him into the air. "And I'll gouge your eyes out."
"I—I wouldn't dare! Please, let me down!"
The man—Lai Hengbao—trembled violently, feeling genuine killing intent.
Even Ai Jiangtu was surprised by how fast Mu Nianbing moved.
Zhao Manyan, on the other hand, didn't even flinch; he had already witnessed the captain's terrifying side before.
Jiang Shaoxu's eyes sparkled with amusement, while Nan Jue herself blinked, a faint look of surprise crossing her face.
The rest of the team exchanged uneasy glances.
Lai Hengbao coughed and forced a nervous smile. "M-Master Mu… my apologies. I didn't mean any offense."
Mu Nianbing released him, letting him drop to the floor.
"Remember that," he said flatly.
"Y-Yes! My name is Lai Hengbao," the man stammered, "and I'll be assisting you during your stay. Let me explain the local rules and registration procedures for becoming a district team."
The team followed him deeper into the building, the earlier tension still lingering in the air.
