Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Cerulean City

On the airship, Raj leaned back against the window, lost in thought.

He still couldn't believe May had been awake the entire time after Haunter's first hypnosis. Thinking about it made him feel helpless.

Half a day later, the airship descended near Cerulean City—his next destination.

Here, Raj planned to earn his third Gym Badge.

The Cerulean City Gym was run by Misty's three older sisters, each as gorgeous as a fairy.

Raj smirked to himself. If he could win their favor, the battle might turn out to be very entertaining.

Controlling the airship, he landed quietly on the outskirts of the city. He wanted to keep a low profile—no unnecessary attention.

But not far away, two figures were already watching him.

"Did you see that, Butch? That guy was flying an airship. But how does something that big just disappear like that?"

On a cliff overlooking the outskirts, a woman wearing a black uniform with a big red "R" on her chest narrowed her eyes.

"Cassidy, yeah. I saw it too. This guy's gotta be loaded. Probably has some strong Pokémon on him. Should we make a move?" the man beside her replied. He, too, wore the unmistakable Team Rocket uniform.

Cassidy flicked her long hair. "Our unit hasn't had any good hits lately. I heard the boss is pissed. This time, we're going to grab something strong."

Butch chuckled. "Honestly, compared to Jessie and James, we're doing fine. Their team's a disaster. The organization gave them a pile of missions, but they've failed every single one. I heard they'll be kicked out soon. Hahaha."

"Ugh, Jessie," Cassidy growled, her expression twisting.

"That bitch pisses me off. She's useless but never shuts up. Last time I saw her, she was bragging about catching some super powerful Pikachu she'd hand over to the boss. Said she'd outrank us soon."

"Let's not talk about them anymore," Butch waved. "They're not going to last long anyway."

Raj, oblivious to the two Rockets, walked into Cerulean City.

Cerulean was a bustling coastal city in northern Kanto. To the south lay Saffron City, and to the west was Yuejian Mountain. The city stretched along the river mouth, its streets lively and full of color.

Shops lined the streets, selling everything from high-tech gadgets to rare Pokémon food. Raj also noticed something else.

Pretty girls. Lots of them.

Everywhere he looked, women in light summer clothes were strolling around with their Pokémon.

Some carried their shopping bags on Poliwhirl, while others hung them off the arms of Starmie like living coat racks.

Of course, there were also countless Water-type Pokémon—a natural sight for a city by the sea.

But Raj wasn't here for sightseeing. Before long, he stood at the entrance of the Cerulean City Gym, ready to claim the Cascade Badge.

The moment he stepped inside, a burst of giggles echoed through the gym.

"Daisy, yours is too small. It's nowhere near as big as mine!"

"Lily, yours feels nice, but not better than mine!"

"If you don't believe me, come touch it!"

Raj froze on the spot.

What… the hell… was going on?

"Mine isn't bad either. If you don't believe me, find someone else to touch it!" another voice chimed in.

Unable to resist, Raj walked further in—and the truth hit him like a splash of cold water.

The three sisters weren't talking about anything indecent at all. They were standing beside the pool, comparing their Goldeen.

Three Horned Goldfish swam lazily in the water while their owners argued over which one was the best.

Raj nearly laughed out loud. For a second, he'd actually expected something exciting.

"What are you doing here?" one of the sisters asked sharply.

"Never mind that! You, come and judge whose Goldeen is better!" another added.

"Yes, yes, judge for us! Mine's clearly the best!" Lily insisted, pouting at her sisters.

Raj sighed inwardly. Beautiful, yes. Rational… not so much.

Up close, the three of them were exactly like in the anime—elegant, gorgeous, and graceful. Known for their water ballet performances, their figures and faces were top-tier.

"I think all your Goldeen look great," Raj said with a practiced smile. "With such careful care, they'll definitely grow strong."

No way was he picking sides. Offending one of them over a fish was not on his to-do list.

"Oh, this little brother knows how to talk," Lily said with a playful laugh, brushing back her reddish hair.

Raj scratched his head awkwardly.

"By the way, why are you here?" Daisy, the blue-haired sister, asked.

"I'm here to challenge the Gym," Raj answered. "Isn't this the Cerulean City Gym? I want to earn a badge."

"Ohhh… so you're a Trainer," they finally realized, exchanging embarrassed glances.

Raj sighed inwardly. Beautiful women… not always quick on the uptake.

He also remembered from the anime that their Pokémon were weak.

Most Trainers from Pallet Town had beaten them easily—except Ash. The sisters didn't take battling seriously; they focused on their water ballet shows.

The Gym's difficulty was notoriously low.

And honestly, if you were even a little nice to them, they'd just hand you the badge. No real battle needed.

Ash once cleaned their pool, and they gave him a Cascade Badge as thanks.

Honestly, it was kind of pathetic.
