"Are you sure it's a good idea for me to return to class today?" Su Ningyan asked as he placed his palms on the floor and kicked himself into a handstand.
He focused on balance. On breathing. On not thinking.
Up. Down.
Steady.
Yan Wuhen watched him from the table, a golden cup resting loosely in his hand, his expression one of idle curiosity.
"There is a high probability you'll be summoned the moment you're sighted," he said calmly. "The headmaster will want to see you before you attend class."
"Am I going to get expelled?" Ningyan scoffed. "Maybe that'll finally make you break the spirit mate chain."
He held the handstand perfectly this time. When he dropped back onto his feet, he laughed, breathless and pleased with himself.
Wuhen's lips curled faintly. "I've already spoken to the headmaster. He's aware that you're under my protection. This meeting is merely for appearances."
Ningyan frowned and strode toward him. "So you bribed him?"
