"One two three go!... turn! Twist…roll it! Stop stop!, ethan what are you doing?"
A beautiful girl said while walking towards ethan and standing in front of him
''You can't keep doing that! I said roll it, have you already forgotten how to?" She asked while looking directly into his eyes but he just tsked ''Well it's not that easy!" He replied in annoyance irritating the girl further.
A few days ago He had sought her out and asked her to let him and dohyun join their dance routine practically begging her, since the school festival was coming, and yet here he was looking all pissed off when infact it was them who were supposed to be pissed off.
He had asked them to join because he knew that there might be some scouts from HM looking for potential trainees for their new debut show.
He thought it would be easy but standing in the unused classroom right now in his gym clothes he regretted not thinking it through.
'Is this the only way?' He thought for the past week but as stupid as his plan was yes this was the only way for him to go because he wasn't entering the industry to debut but for someone and to get that person's attention he had to debut.
Minji clicked her tongue and grabbed his arm pulling him to the other side
''The rest of you can continue, I'll personally take this special case!" She said to the others and her friends just glanced at her knowingly and continued, making her blush slightly
She looked at him and sighed
''You know, if it wasn't for that face card of yours I wouldn't have agreed to this, but now your here and there's nothing I can do about it, Since we've already changed the choreography please do your best. I know to you this was all done on a whim but for us this may be our chance to get seen'' She said while stretching then added
''Okay! So all you need to do is copy these exact steps that I'm about to show you'' She said then proceeded to dance. He tried his best to follow but couldn't get some things right. The others that had already finished their practice watched the two move around, with ethan looking like a stiff Tin man with no oil in his joints. The others laughed at him and received glares from him while dohyun just stood there observing.
After some time they stopped with minji giving him some pointers before she and her friends left leaving only ethan and dohyun alone.
''Why are you going through so much trouble for something you don't even want to do?'' dohyun asked and ethan just paused not knowing what to say.
Dohyun had been wanting to ask him so many questions like 'why the sudden interest?' But he held himself back for fear of hurting his friends feelings but now that the festival was just five days away and ethan's performance was so bad that he began to feel sorry for the girls, and to make matters worse his face was always in a frown, looking like he was forced to do this, but no he was actually the one who initiated this whole thing so why did he look so uncomfortable? ethan stopped dancing and was now tidying up. Seeing this Dohyun took the chance and stepped infront of him
''Hey you deaf now?'' He said
''What?" Ethan just avoiding him and continued doing what he was doing ''Just exhausted '' he added but dohyun just raised his eyebrows and looked at ethan with doubt filled eyes.
Ethan still didn't want to tell him and so avoided his eyes. Dohyun could tell that the boy was embarrassed doing such but he still took the time to learn.
He wondered what could be going on in his head for him to clearly force himself to do this, was it because he wanted to impress a girl?.
He sighed and packed up the rest of his things and followed ethan out of the classroom.
As soon as ethan turned on his phone he received multiple missed calls and messages, he just sighed and switched off his phone. Again dohyun silently observed him noticing the subtle change in his demeanor. As of late ethan had rarely switched on his phone and when he did, his phone would blow up with notifications and would even ring from time to time. He had asked him what was going on but as usual his very secretive friend had said that it was nothing.
He wanted to respect his friends Privacy but as time went on and this behaviour continued he started to suspect that he was being threatened or something. He was worried because ethan looked strong yes but from the little time that he spent with him he noticed that ethan was a pretender, not in a bad way though, he was just good at hiding his emotions and showing indifference, masking his true nature with a fiery attitude. He was actually surprised when he saw how ethan was with other people, he was always teasing and active but with him he was differen. He knew that it was a good thing because with him he was clearly different, he was less active and showed his true emotions from time to time, like staring at nothing blankly and keeping quiet once in a while. Which yes was kinda off putting at first but he realised it was actually better of he showed his true self rather than the one he showed people.
He kinda liked a clumsy, shy ethan who seemed at peace rather than a weary, cold and distant ethan who's smile never really reached his eyes.
They reached ethan's gate to his house which had become a habit of Dohyun to escort him all the way up to his gate even though his house was in the other direction. Ethan just thought that his friend loved to be out of the house and had alot of free time to spend which wasn't the case at all for dohyun. The boy was just worried about his friend who stayed alone and took it upon himself to ensure that he got home safe and sound only then would his heart be at peace.
''Are you sure your okay?" Dohyun asked stopping ethan before he got inside, he noticed ethan's expression turn sour after checking the mail.
''Why wouldn't I be?" He asked back trying to sound normal but his anxious expression betrayed him, he kept looking around nervously.
Dohyun just sighed heavily, he suspected that something was wrong but since ethan never wanted to tell him he would again hold himself back out of respect for his friend albeit unwilling.
