Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Buddha.

The full moon hung high above the land, it's soft glow streaming down onto the jagged, mountainous terrain like urine streaming into a toilet bowl. Down bellow, countless mountains dotted the land like sharp teeth as far as the eye could see.

At the peak of one of the mountains slept a small village, the warm lights from the lanterns on the streets and houses shone, quietly crowning the mountain like a sovereign among it's servants.

Inside a small wooden house at the outskirts of the village a young woman sat on a wooden chair. Her long blue hair cascaded behind her back like a waterfall. In her arms, she held a small bundle close to her chest, nursing the child in her embrace. As she looked down upon her child her gaze carried the deep maternal affection only a mother could hold for their child. At this moment both mother and child were deeply connected but although the mothers heart was full of warmth, the child's mind was somewhere else entirely.

'When will my teeth grow out? Sucking on this woman every day, what if I develop some strange interests?' Hong Mu shivered at the thought making her mother stroke her back soothingly although that only caused her shivering to intensify.

'No, that's not important, this world has such strange people and animals surely they have some good drugs!' Her mother would often carry her on her back all day while doing shores, allowing Hong Mu to learn about this world, although she hadn't learned the language yet she had seen enough to have a basic understanding of this world.

The living beings of this world were strange, although many of the animals she saw were familiar they had obvious differences. Once, in the market place she saw a man carrying a six legged giant lizard the size of a car.

The man himself had hair green as grass, a color that didn't naturally occur on earth, it wasn't just him either, pink, white ,black, there were people with many hair colors walking around. 'Being reborn in a different world, how is such a thing possible?' Hong Mu wondered, possibilities shooting through her mind.

Was it a natural phenomenon that everyone went through but nobody ever revealed or was she a special case?

'Special? Only a moron would believe that!' Hong Mu disdainfully curled her lips at that thought, those who believed such things and looked down on others would never be able to see the knife hanging above their own heads never understanding their mediocrity until it was too late.

Hong Mu knew just how lacking she was. Her value was so low she might as well not even exist. Perhaps it was the ploy of some higher beings? She doubted that, she had nothing of value to a being so powerful as to grant resurrection. Entertainment? Would a being so powerful even have the desire for such a thing?

Noticing that her thoughts had started spinning in circles again she inwardly shook her head and steered her thoughts towards another matter. 'I was reborn once, does that mean i will continuously reincarnate or is it a one time thing? If it's the latter than so be it but if it's the former that opens up a whole new can of worms.' Reborn infinitely, cursed to forever exist, perhaps she was already in hell but just didn't know it yet.

'Whether it is the former or the latter i really wan't to know.' Hong Mu's gaze shone and she immediately made the decision to discard her life. Whether it was this life or her previous one, Hong Mu cherished neither. In her previous life, nothing held any value in her eyes.

'The only one who can ever know you is you yourself, as for others, no matter how much you interact with them they can only know the version of you they construct in their heads, it would seem identical on the surface but if one tried to touch it it would dissipate like smoke, to some you would be a saint to others you would be a sinner, to most you will only ever be a thought in the back of their minds, a face in the crowd. It's impossible to ever truly know anyone other than ourselves not only because others don't care but also because we ourselves are unable to show our true selves to others, too worried about rejection or judgement. The beauty of the human soul is boundless like a diamond but what beauty could a diamond buried in the mud have? In this world although both genuine love and sincere hatred existed but what meaning could they have when they were directed at nothing but an illusion in peoples heads?'

Humans were isolated animals forced to become social creatures out of an instinct to survive, they created societies, currency, laws, morals and reputation to safeguard their benefits and ensure their survival. Living a lie, forever bound by their own pathetic fear of death. Hong Mu decided to embrace it instead.

After sucking her mother dry, mother Mu got up and left her on the chair going to another room, leaving Hong Mu by herself. Hong Mu glanced at the lit fireplace, the tongues of flames swayed seductively as if calling her over. Hong Mu thought 'A drug overdose would have been ideal but that could take years to source, a wise man submits to circumstances.'

Crawling over to the edge of the chair Hong Mu gazed down at the floor before hopping off, the fall wasn't great so she didn't feel any pain, Hong Mu steadily walked towards the fireplace, the closer she go the higher the temperature she felt and larger the image of the flames became in her eyes.

Standing at the precipice her breathing quickened and her tiny heart almost beat out of her small chest, she felt like she had swallowed an apple whole she could almost feel herself choking. Facing death with a sober mind she wavered, at the end of the day she was still just a person.

It took her a few minutes to calm down before Hong Mu sighed 'If i don't go to hell who will?' before hurling herself into the fire.
