Chapter 8 - Pretentious Noble

She looked up, blinking, seeing the gold, shaking her head as she didn't reply, finally realizing Caelus was a Dragon, along with the fact that he used some of his hoarding material to get food.

"Well... How long will it take." Caelus spoke, expecting her to react normally, even though, recently, on the news by the church, it had been revealed that dragons had gone extinct.

She simply nodded, rushing behind the stall into a freezer room. She took out two large bones, probably from the back legs. Along with that, in a sealed bag were the organs, along with another bag containing all the meat Caelus got. Which was about five to six percent of his own mass, though, including all the other stuff, it'd be enough.

"Thank you," Caelus spoke, thanking them as if it were some everyday occurrence. She gave a weird expression, but didn't mind it much. His voice was calmer and more restrained.

[If you wanna know how to eat, just swallow it, you don't really need to heat it up, which humans usually have to.]

Caelus listened and held one bone and threw it into his mouth, assuming that's how dragons ate it. Swallowing it with ease, he thought for a second. As he felt weird, he didn't really eat bones as a human, so this was a very different feeling.

Caelus finally noticed everyone, well, almost, staring at him, including Tellus, who was looking in horror as he swallowed a bone of something which was feared, even if it was already dead for them; those bones could last even them for an entire month, let alone the meat.

"What? Did you expect me to eat the same amount as you all?" Caelus spoke, his voice showing confusion about whether they really thought he needed as much food as they ate.

Caelus looked over at a table and sat down in the empty area, looking towards some houses, his legs crossed as he took out the organs first so the people here didn't have to look at them any longer.

People started looking away, minding their business as Caelus chomped on his food, three rows of teeth both above and below on his mouth, enough to be efficient, being between too much and too little. Compared to Humans and sharks.

Finally finishing all of it in a few minutes, he got up and took a small breath, which would be enough for a month for him. Looking to the side, he saw Tellus approaching with her group of girls, two of whom were nobles and one who looked taller, about one hundred and eighty or ninety centimeters.

"Caelus, why did you eat all of that in one go? It could've lasted for so long-" Tellus spoke, clearly annoyed, though he expected her not to understand, he didn't see her as dumb but just as less informed or ignorant, as in, not having enough information on a subject.

"...Because I need to eat more than you. The amount I ate lasts about a month for me in one go; if I only ate a little, I'd probably start starving."

Caelus spoke, interrupting her as he took a moment to process each of them, with one of them trying to pull out a scale. Caelus simply let his eyes move to look at her, who stopped right as she noticed he was looking.

"Oh-, Okay, I mean, I guess it makes sense, Dragons are usually enormous," Tellus spoke, accepting the explanation because it was sound.

One of the other girls just looked at Tellus and spoke. "Seriously, you're going to try and get with this guy? I mean, I knew you liked learning about animals, but this is a little much."

Caelus turned towards her; he wasn't oblivious, but it took him a second to realize what she'd said, and the taller lady noticed him trying not to laugh.

"Your name is Caelus, right?" The tall lady spoke, her eyes glowing somewhat, a bright amber color,

"Yes? What is it?" Caelus replied, wondering what she needed, since he didn't know she noticed him holding back a laugh.

"How do you get the jokes humans like us make? Aren't you a dragon?" She replied. "Don't try to lie, I saw you trying not to laugh."

Caelus's eyes widened a little, barely a centimeter, only for it to go back to normal. The wind blew past as people began talking around them, "Ah, I mean, I learned over time, hearing what you humans said when you pass where I live, it took me a few years to get it though."

Caelus was lying, but since his voice was usually so calm, it sounded like the truth. He moved to the side as a carriage was starting to pass by, Caelus's tail flicked to the left to make sure it didn't make contact with it.

"...I don't trust it, but sure." The lady spoke. "It's a better explanation than just ignoring my question, at least, the name is Minerva." She spoke calmly, a little annoyed that she couldn't tell what he was feeling or whether he was nervous, but not dwelling on it for too long.

Tellus took a second to notice two people, a guy and a lady, walking up. Tellus, only then groaning. "Not them again, Caelus, you should probably go; they're going to end up bothering you." Her voice was clearly annoyed as she looked over at him. Who was... Standing still, just looking back at the two approaching.

"At least the rest of you, so you don't have headaches," Tellus spoke to her friends, who walked backwards, sitting back down at the table while waiting for Tellus to finish whatever she needed. They didn't want to disturb something involving her, even when they wanted to help.

Mainly because the ones approaching were nobles. Caelus could tell, especially from their attire and jewelry. Not only that, they looked smug. It would be annoying to talk with them.

"So Tellus, you've clearly gotten a new friend, it seems, a Wyvern, I didn't think you'd stoop that low to make friends with non-humans to get friends, still no more than you grou-" The lady spoke, her dress dragging across the floor, covering her entire body, her hair a dark gold color, like it was tainted.

"Seriously, why do you just keep coming towards me? Do you have some sort of obsession or something?" Tellus replied, giving them no chance to finish.

"Oh, absolutely not, why would I be obsessed? I'm just here to remind you that you won't amount to much." The boy retorted on his sister's behalf. A smile on his face, his clothing similar to Caelus, though a light blue color, similar to the sky, along with the cloud pattern.

Caelus, on the other hand, didn't want to bother replying to them, putting his hand on Tellus's Shoulder. "I don't think you should continue entertaining them; they're only here for your reaction," Caelus spoke, his voice somewhat exhausted. Even when he should be at his peak of energy.

"Just hearing them speak drains my will to stay awake." He continued. Turning away as Tellus looked over, confused by his reaction, she went to follow and talk with him. Even though she'd known him for such a short time, she'd had the feeling this wasn't normal from him.

The stones on the floor scattered the more Caelus walked across them, speeding up somewhat so Tellus couldn't catch up. On the other hand, the two other Nobles were annoyed. From the corner of his eye, he could see they were also going to follow, but with very minimal effort.

They went into the carriage instead of walking over; it looked as if they didn't even have the strength to walk. "...I should just speak my mind. Even if they get offended, they'll assume that's how a Dragon acts; they don't actually know." Caelus thought to himself, finally stopping as Tellus stopped as well, standing near an antique shop.

"Just tell me what you need," Caelus said. "I don't really have time to talk right now. I just want to be alone for a bit." The wind brushed against both of their hair, Caelus's hair being double the size of Tellus's. It looked recently cut, but it still reached the shoulders.

"You don't act like this. You talked a lot more. Why did you just leave?" Tellus spoke, trying to get at least one reason. Even if she knew Dragons were different, she wanted to see the reasoning.

"Sure, the reason is that I dislike their voices, or at least how they act. They seem stubborn, so they won't just go because you tell them to. You have to make them. But I doubt that would happened because you are... Not equal in rank to them." Caelus says. Taking a breath, he looked to the side, hearing the carriage move closer as the people separated like water being blown.

"They're here. So you could leave, and I'll talk to them." Caelus continued.

"But you just said you dislike their voice- Why-" Tellus tried replying, but seeing Caelus's eyes turn to him in what looked like annoyance, she became quiet.

"I'd rather have a headache than you deal with something you've probably dealt with most of your life," Caelus replied. "Now you should get going before they see, since there aren't any windows in that."

Tellus nodded and waved, running off. In almost a flash, she disappeared through the street. It was just the speed of a Cultivator. He was finally getting used to something like that.

The carriage finally came to a stop, the door swinging open as both nobles looked out. They were dumbfounded that Tellus wasn't there. But since Caelus was there, they thought it would be better to bother him.

As they got out of the carriage, people moved back, mostly commoners, not guards, as if getting too close would mean something bad. As soon as they approached Caelus, the girl looked over, seeing Caelus's tail, and then seeing his face.

"Well, if it isn't the Wyvern friend that Tellus got. Tell me how annoying she is. Does she bother you on everything, or is she secretly pretentious?" The boy spoke, a smile growing on his face.

"Why would I tell you that? It's not like it's something you should care about." Caelus replied, his tail swinging from side to side slowly. Part of it slapped a pole and stopped. Caelus, looking over at the girl, noticed her frozen in place.

"Looks like your sister here is frozen." Caelus moved his hand, poking the girl's head, only for her to move her head back.

"HEY, Don't touch me!-" She spoke, reacting instinctively as the carriage began leaking an aura.

"You're the one frozen looking at me," Caelus replied, giving not much attention to her annoyance. Turning back to the guy.

"Also, brother, I think we shouldn't bother him; he isn't a Wyvern. He's That. She spoke as if saying Dragon wasn't allowed. The wind stopped for a moment, like something bad was going to happen.

"...Of course, whenever I'm here, something like this happens." Caelus sighed, looking ahead as he noticed two people on top of a building, one in a warmer color, in the shape of a person, with what looked like Antlers, and the other probably human.

"Also, you should probably look around; there might be people following you." Caelus continued, his hand moving as he held the staff, pointing it directly at the top of the building. "I shouldn't help them, but I'd rather not watch people die near me."

Right as both people on the roof moved, Caelus launched two of his slashes, flying directly to them in an X shape, hitting both in the chest and head, not launching them back. He made it create a wind that circled them so they stayed in place.

"Wh- YOU CAN'T JUST USE MANA IN HERE-" The boy spoke, shouting at Caelus, only to look back and notice the two people standing, covered completely, including their eyes, with nothing being revealed, even a single bit. Clothing that changed to match the background. Convenient.
