Chapter 58 - Chapter 58: Heads. Forever.

Staring at the clean, flawless side of the coin, the profile without a single scratch, Two-Face's eyes filled with disbelief.

"But... But... this was not supposed to happen ...how?" He muttered to himself.

Deep in his heart, a voice echoed.

Heads. I win.

"No! This is just an accident. Maybe I'm seeing things!"

Two-Face roared in his mind.

He looked down again to confirm. The side facing up was indeed the pristine profile of Lady Liberty.

Unable to accept it, Two-Face picked up the coin and turned it over.

The scene he had imagined did not appear.

The reverse side of the coin was still the scarred profile, the scratches exactly as he remembered.

Two-Face's coin had not been swapped.

He stood there, frozen, unable to react for a long time.

"Oh, it seems fate is on my side this time."

Seeing Two-Face's strange expression, Robin knew the coin must have landed on the side he did not want.

"Shut up! You just got lucky this time!"

Veins bulged on Two-Face's forehead. He shifted his gaze to Kaitou Kid on the floor and drew a pistol from his waist, aiming it at his forehead.

"Hey! What are you doing? The coin toss already has a result. You're supposed to be the good man now, and good men don't do bad things. You said that yourself. Are you going to admit you've been lying to yourself?"

Noticing Two-Face's actions, Robin shouted urgently.

"I am not! That last one was only a trial for you. Now I judge you not guilty, but he is another criminal. I must make another judgment!"

Two-Face retorted stubbornly.

"I really underestimated your shamelessness Two-Face."

Under Robin's contemptuous gaze, Two-Face ignored everything and flipped the coin a second time.

Ting~~!

However, the result this time... was still the clean profile.

The pristine profile.

Two-Face's eyes widened, bloodshot, his body trembling uncontrollably.

Heads again. I win again. We should let them go.

The voice in his heart echoed once more.

At that moment, the hand holding the gun, aimed at Kaitou Kid, lowered involuntarily.

"No! There's still a chance. It can't be like this forever!"

"Just once. Just once is all I need!"

With that thought, Two-Face raised his gun and rushed toward the judge on the bench.

"Wait, don't… don't come over here, Mr. Dent. Please spare me!"

The judge was so terrified that he wanted to flee on the spot, but unfortunately, like Robin and the jury, he was firmly bound to his chair.

Although Two-Face had deliberately left one of the judge's hands untied so he could strike the gavel properly, in a situation like this, it was impossible for him to free himself with just one hand.

After all, he was no escape artist.

"Whether you are spared or not has never depended on me. It depends only on the judgment of fate."

Two-Face coldly flipped the coin in front of the judge.

This time, he did not catch the coin, letting it fall naturally onto the judge's bench.

"It's the clean side! Thank God, Jesus bless me!"

When the coin landed steadily on the table, a look of relief flooded the judge's face, as if he had just survived a catastrophe.

Two-Face's expression, however, shifted through shades of pale and blue.

Three times.

Three consecutive times, the coin had landed on the good side.

This had never happened before.

"Why? Why is it like this?"

Two-Face clenched the coin tightly, unable to stop himself from asking in his heart.

"Could it be that I'm really wrong today?"

You finally got something right.

"Shut up! I won't give up! I don't believe you can keep winning forever!"

Two-Face suddenly roared, startling the judge in front of him.

"Wh… what? Who… who won?"

The judge stammered.

Two-Face ignored the bewildered judge and turned his gaze toward the jury instead.

"Is it really just a coincidence for a coin to land on the same side several times in a row? Even if it's good for us, it's still a little strange."

From the side, Robin watched Two-Face closely, deep in thought.

At that moment, he recalled the notice Kaitou Kid had left earlier.

"The twin who lost himself falls into darkness, Launching a hypocritical trial upon the world,

When the gavel of fate strikes for the seventh time, Silver-white wings shall descend with the moonlight, Bringing salvation to that tattered soul."

The first two lines had already come true. Robin, Kaitou Kid, and everyone present were now caught in Two-Face's trial.

"The third line… when I was first brought into this so-called court, I suspected it might refer to the number of times the gavel was struck. But the person playing the judge only struck it once from beginning to end."

"And in my earlier discussion with Oracle, she believed it referred to the number of times Two-Face flipped his coin. Now it seems her guess was indeed correct, only…"

Robin turned his head to look at Kaitou Kid, who was still unconscious.

"In his current state, how is he supposed to fulfill the last two lines?"

"Wait, I seem to have overlooked something important."

A sudden flash of insight struck him.

"I get it. So that's how it is. Indeed, seeing isn't necessarily believing…"

Ping. Ping. Ping.

Starting with the first person on the left side of the jury, Two-Face began flipping the coin one by one.

Without exception, every time it landed with the intact profile of Lady Liberty facing up.

By now, even the dullest person would realize something was wrong, and Two-Face was no exception.

He repeatedly examined the coin, his own hands, the jury members, and the table, trying to find where the problem lay.

But no matter what he did, he found nothing abnormal.

Logic told Two-Face that he should try a different coin.

Unfortunately, he was not a completely logical person.

Moreover, Two-Face's coin was handcrafted by him, unique in the world, and he only obeyed the judgment of this specific coin.

Thus, he walked up to the fourth member of the jury.

He flipped the coin for the seventh time.

At that moment, Robin focused with all his might.

Whether his guess was correct depended entirely on the result of this toss.

Clang-lang-lang—~~~!!! Tap!

The coin landed on the table, spun a few times, then settled flat.

Heads. I win. Face reality. You lost. Let them all go, then return to the place where we belong, Arkham Asylum.

"No! No! No! NO!"

Two-Face let out a furious roar of refusal.

Click!

In that instant, a white light suddenly flooded the entire room.

The light was not particularly strong, but everyone present had grown accustomed to the darkness. Faced with the sudden brightness, they instinctively closed their eyes.

"This is… the lights!??"

Two-Face raised an arm to shield his eyes, staring up at the ceiling in shock.

"When was the power supply to the ACE Chemical Plant restored?"
