Chapter four
I froze in mid-step like a cartoon character paused in highlight. My eyes fluttered, I had to look for the right words to use.
"Yes husband" with an innocent smile on my face like a child that was given a lollipop.
"What did you just call me?".
"Husband,or aren't you my husband?".
"Don't call me that or try to change the topic"
"I'm not," I said in an awkward manner.
"Where have you been? Why on earth are you returning home by this time of the day?.It's the second you're dping this,Ruby you are married, I've got a lot of enemies out there. Are you trying to endanger yourself ?huh"
"Are you looking out for me,or are you nagging?".
"Nagging! Is that what this looks like to you? Damn you need help" he came too close to me that our lips almost touched
I was lost in thought. Is he this handsome or was it because my light was dim? His blue eyes shining ,not the type you would easily forget but the type that would make you want to stare for too long. His hair was very messy like they haven't been combed in days…
"Ruby!"
I came back to reality "yes"
"Were you even listening to what I was saying huh?".
"I….I…"
"You what"
"I was listening but you came too close,I couldn't think straight" Jezz did that just come out of my mouth
"What do you mean by 'you couldn't think straight'wait a minute,don't tell me you're beginning to fall head over heels for me"
"You wished,you know what I've heard you, I'll let you know when I intend to come back home late, I'll call if I notice something suspicious I'll text you…. I get it".
"Let me believe you got that"
"Yes husband i do"
Before he left I saw something like a genuine smile.they type of smile one would smile with his eyes,but I wasn't sure what I really saw in his eyes.

"How did it go with your husband"
"The way you call him my husband all the time would make it seem like we were actually married or something."
"Well,for all I know you're both married, real marriage or a fake marriage, none of that is my business as long as there's a ring there".
"Are you being serious?,or are you being sarcastic?".
"I'm for real girl, I mean I see how he looks at you whenever we're having or whenever you're talking in the meeting,I see some sparks there you know".
"Bella wake up,you're day dreaming, it's not happening".
"Just give it a chance, I know you kind of like him".
"What!,that's not even possible I….
"Ruby, Mr.Nick calls for you".
"Seriously"
"Sir you called for me".
"Sit"
"Hmm,hope im safe" i muttered
"I called you here not because of work, we'll be going to see my elder sister the day after tomorrow and we might be spending some days at her place"
"Wait, is that why you called me?".
"Yess,is there a problem with that"
"No sir, but you know you can also tell me this at home rather than calling me for marital stuff".
"Wow,so now you're to dictate when I call you and when I don't?,or are you forgetting the fact that I'm not only your husband but also your boss?"
I could swear that Nick enjoyed getting me pissed
"I'm sorry sir, can I leave".
"Yeah you can".

"Wasn't that Ruby,your wife".Richmond said sitting down.
" Yeah what happened to her".
"Nothing, she just looks too sexy for an assistant and how did she even end up working with you? Don't you think the company will get suspicious l".
"Well it's not like anything is going to happen if they find out, i just dont want put her life in the line, a lot of things are happening,I don't want her to be caught up with it"
"Hmm Nick and since when did you care for someone that's not yourself or your sister or me,are you starting to like her?".
"Get your head straight i just don't want to have anything to donqith her don't assume anything"
" Alright if you say so, I'll get going".

Why do I have this awkward feeling around her? It's not like I married her behavior. I was in love with her or because I knew her or something. Why is she making me feel strange?
She was not supposed to be my type but now I look for every reason to want to talk to, to get her pissed off and seeing her messy.Damn this can't be happening.
"Ruby!".
"What were you thinking ?I've been calling your name. Why was he calling you?".
"You know sometimes I feel like squeezing Nick's head like a millennium mosquitoes from mumbai"
"Ha ha ha ha, what was that? Take it easy snow white".
"Well it's fine he's surely going to pay for it".
Later that day
"Cherry!"
"Yes sir".
"Why are you standing there like a peacock?why is dinner not served yet?".
"Umm…sirr.."
"Umm what,what are you trying to say?".
"Sir,it's Ruby, she said she wants to prepare dinner by herself".
"What do you mean by that? Which Ruby?".

" Don't bother yourself, just go".
What on earth is she up to now?
"Sir, dinner is served".

I wonder what she made i hope I'm safe
"Are you trying to poison me or what?".
"Relax,if I wanted you gone or dead you wouldn't see it coming,it's just macaroni and cheese,eat or starve".
"The nerves you get talking to me in that manner".
"Sorry husband, can we just eat and not argue please".

I knew something was wrong somewhere. I was allergic to milk. Don't tell me she added milk in it. I'm surely going to kill her.
"Did you add milk in it?".
"Yes of course, I mean who doesn't?".
I started breathing fast, I haven't had this feeling for a very long time since I was twelve and now this woman here is trying to kill me
"Mrs Cherry!"
"Call the driver right now" .I said laying on the floor I couldn't breath,I couldn't think,the last thing I remembered seeing was Ruby's face-full of fear,pity and something else that I could place. It was hard to believe she really cared for me.
