Chapter 125 - Chapter 125: Serialization Meeting, Passed!

Chapter 125: Serialization Meeting, Passed!

Although the editor had mentioned in the editorial department that several other new manga would participate in the serialization meeting, Kaede did not believe their manga would lose.

The submission task was finished for the day, and since there was still plenty of time before evening, Kaede simply took Eriri to a nearby arcade to play for a while before taking her home.

Upon arriving home, Asakura Reiko also asked about Eriri's manga.

"Don't worry, we passed the editor's hurdle. All that's left is the serialization meeting, which should be fine. We're just waiting for their notification to sign the contract."

Asakura Reiko clapped her hands happily and said, "That is wonderful! Once it truly passes, remember to invite Eriri over. I'll cook her a big celebratory meal!"

"...Mom, I'm your son, right?"

"But I see you smiling quite happily too, don't I?" Seeing the smile on Kaede's face, Asakura Reiko teased him and patted his head. "Alright, alright, go amuse yourself. Don't forget what I told you, understood?"

"I know, I'll invite Eriri over. Besides, once the serialization truly begins, who knows how many times she'll be coming over during the upcoming summer break."

Oh, right, speaking of that.

Reiko quickly stopped her son, who was about to go upstairs, and asked, "I looked it up online, and it seems like manga artists are very busy. It's going to be hot during the summer vacation. Is it okay for you and Eriri to run back and forth all day? Even if you take a taxi all the time, the expense won't be small, right?"

"Uh..."

Kaede really hadn't thought of that and was speechless for a moment.

Indeed, if the weather wasn't so hot, it would be fine, but summer vacation is coming, and summer is a hot period. Even if they spend most of their time traveling by car, they will still feel hot. And whether it's Kaede or Eriri, two days a week like before was fine, but during summer vacation, the cost of taking a car would increase significantly.

Buses and trains were out of the question; just waiting for them would be deadly in the heat.

Watching her son fall into thought, Reiko showed a slight smile.

"Kaede-kun, Mom wants to ask you something."

"Ah, what?"

Pulled by his mother to sit on the living room sofa, Kaede was a bit confused about what she wanted to say.

"Kaede-kun, you haven't spent much of your light novel manuscript fees, have you?"

Kaede listened and nodded, "That's right. I don't just spend money wildly. Besides getting myself a new high-end computer, I've just bought a few games or figures. Oh, and I also bought you some skincare products and perfume, Mom."

"I know you're filial, Kaede-kun." Reiko stroked her son's head and said with a smile, "So, you haven't spent most of this money, right?"

"That's right, I've been saving it. Why, does the family need money?"

"Of course not, but there's no need to rush to tell you now. Mom just has an idea. Alright, alright, you go upstairs."

Kaede was even more confused now. What was all this about? After asking about his expenses, she just stopped talking?

It was truly puzzling.

However, Kaede didn't press further. Anyway, his mother would never trick him. She hadn't even confiscated his manuscript income.

After watching her son go upstairs, Reiko, with a smile on her face, finally murmured to herself, "Although Kaede-kun is only 16, he'll be 17 in a few months after his birthday, but our son is precocious, so it's not a big problem. Hmm... now, if all goes well, Eriri will become a manga artist, and Kaede-kun will be a light novel author, plus Eriri's partner. It's definitely possible to set up a studio, which would also be convenient for the two children to develop their relationship. However, there's no need to rush. After a few days of summer vacation, I'll go talk to Sayuri about this and understand her thoughts."

Kaede naturally didn't know that his mother was already considering so many things for his future. In the few days of waiting for the submission results, he didn't let Eriri constantly busy herself with drawing manga. Instead, he took advantage of the start of summer vacation to rest for two days.

Playing games and relaxing.

Soon, it was time for the Jump editorial department's serialization meeting.

At 9 AM, in the editorial department's meeting room, after all the editors had arrived, the Editor-in-Chief sat at the head of the table and said, "Alright, the meeting has begun. Everyone should have already received the manga that have entered the serialization selection. Before we discuss, let's all take a look at them first."

After speaking, he picked up his teacup and took a sip.

As the Editor-in-Chief, he had already finished reading all the manga last night and had already made up his mind, deciding which two manga would receive serialization qualifications.

The other editors, after hearing this, picked up the stacks of manga on their hands and began to read, and the meeting room became extremely quiet.

As one of the editors, Izumi Kaori naturally skipped Nurarihyon no Mago and looked at the other manga.

Half an hour later, after finishing all the manga, she put down the manuscripts and let out a sigh of relief with a smile.

This serialization was assured.

It wasn't that the other submitted manga weren't excellent; two of them were quite distinctive, and there were also some with good drawing skills. However, when compared, anyone with a discerning eye could see that Nurarihyon no Mago was superior in all aspects.

After all the editors had finished reading, the Editor-in-Chief looked at everyone and said, "So, let's each state our thoughts."

Starting from the first editor, one by one, they stated the two manga they had decided on in their hearts.

As expected, Nurarihyon no Mago was on the list for ninety percent of the people.

After listening, the Editor-in-Chief nodded and said, "It seems everyone has reached a conclusion, which is pretty much what I expected. The two most outstanding works here are Nurarihyon no Mago and chainsaw man. While Nurarihyon no Mago is a manga about yokai, it still belongs to the traditional shonen manga genre. However, chainsaw man is a dark hero manga, and I look forward to its future performance. Editor Ueda, Editor Izumi, after the meeting, please invite the manga artists to sign the contracts. For the initial serialization, both will be in the early August issue."

After deciding which manga would receive serialization qualifications, the Editor-in-Chief also revealed the names of the manga artists to all the editors. All the editors learned that Nurarihyon no Mago was a collaborative work by two people, and they had all heard of these two individuals.

One was Kurenai Momiji, who was currently serializing best-selling light novels, and the other was Kashiwagi Eri, a well-known doujin artist in the doujin community.

Seeing the shocked expressions of the editors, the Editor-in-Chief smiled and said, "Alright, it's good that everyone knows. The Nurarihyon no Mago duo are quite young, so please do not reveal their true identities to the public, otherwise it might be difficult to handle later."

All the editors understood and nodded in unison. Compared to the identity of the manga artist, they were more concerned with the quality of the manga.

The meeting concluded. After leaving the meeting room, Izumi Kaori immediately dialed Eriri's number without delay.
