Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Dugtrio and the Farmland

When Draconis rushed to the farmland, he saw a small mound moving rapidly on the ground from a distance.

The Knights Order was blocking the path of the moving mound, trying to catch it.

But whenever they were about to get close to the mound, it would skillfully change direction and quickly move to other places.

"Damn it!"

A Knight, angered by the monster destroying the fields, stomped his feet on the spot.

The other few tried to intercept the mound in advance, but they all missed, not only failing to catch the monster but also getting a noseful of dirt.

"Snivy, stop it!" Draconis ordered in a deep voice.

"Snivy."

Snivy calmly looked at the constantly moving mound, and the next second, a slender, emerald green vine whip flew out from its neck.

The vine whip sliced through the air, leaving a clear whooshing sound.

With a whoosh, it accurately struck the mound.

The mound beneath the ground indeed stopped moving, and the Pokémon underneath shook its body, then suddenly broke through the soil, revealing its true form.

It was an unknown monster with three brown heads, each with a red nose.

That was... Dugtrio!

As soon as it emerged, Dugtrio immediately looked precisely at the Snivy that had attacked it.

This mischievous Dugtrio immediately launched an unresigned counterattack, aiming at Snivy, spewing out several dirty mud balls in quick succession from its mouths!

But Snivy's movements were very agile; the moment Dugtrio attacked, it calmly leaped up and landed on another open space.

"Vine Whip," Draconis said again.

"Snivy," Snivy calmly responded, then ran straight towards the Dugtrio not far away, and a slender vine whip once again sliced through the air, heavily striking Dugtrio's body, delivering a direct triple attack.

"Clap! Clap! Clap!"

It was super effective!

Dugtrio immediately let out a cry of pain; seeing that it was no match, Dugtrio immediately wanted to turn and flee.

But how could Snivy give it that chance?

It immediately used Grass Knot to block its path, restraining it.

"We finally caught you, you hateful fellow!" The members of the Knights Order stepped forward, surrounding Dugtrio.

Draconis inspected the damage to the farmland and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that only a small area was damaged.

Draconis stepped through the crowd and walked in front of the Dugtrio that was tightly bound by Grass Knot.

Dugtrio looked scared; it wanted to escape, but it was firmly entangled by Grass Knot, unable to move, and could only let out a panicked Growl: "Squeak! Squeak!"

"Your Highness Draconis!" The Knights, seeing Draconis approach, all made way.

Draconis nodded slightly to the crowd, then turned his gaze to the Dugtrio in front of him.

Dugtrio, the Mole Pokémon, Ground-type, usually lives in dark underground places and rarely comes to the surface.

In that distant future, this Pokémon would be carefully raised by many farmers because the soil after Dugtrio passes through it would be properly turned, and its droppings would also make the soil more fertile, becoming the most suitable farmland for cultivation.

However, wild Dugtrio often also bring considerable disaster to fields and farmers because they will gnaw on the vegetables growing in the fields.

A Pokémon that is helpful to the territory, and as long as sufficient food is provided to Dugtrio, the harm it brings to the fields can also be avoided.

Draconis had the idea of bringing it under his command.

But he remained calm on the surface, his expression even somewhat serious.

"Dugtrio, you have destroyed our fields, and the crops in these farmlands are all the food we have left!"

"That's right, it's too much!"

"Your Highness, don't let this monster go!"

The Knights and farmers nearby echoed.

"Squeak! Squeak! Squeak!!!"

Hearing these words, Dugtrio was startled; it quickly and pitifully indicated that it didn't mean to, it hadn't eaten much all winter, it was just too hungry!

"We can't just let you off so easily." Draconis's expression was serious: "You must do something to compensate for our losses."

"Woo!" That's right! Dratini also echoed from the side.

"Fortunately, we discovered it early! If it had been any later, the entire field would have been destroyed by you, and then without food, everyone in our entire territory would starve to death here!" A farmer's face was full of lingering fear.

Hearing these words, Dugtrio seemed a bit disheartened.

"Squeak..."

She looked at the expressions of the people around her, and a trace of guilt arose in her heart.

"Squeak..."

She hadn't intended to harm anyone; she just wanted to find something to fill her stomach... Draconis saw that the atmosphere had been set well enough, and then he spoke: "If you want us not to pursue it, that's fine."

"Squeak?" Dugtrio quickly looked up.

"You have to stay in this territory and use your strength to work for me until you make up for the damage you caused us," Draconis said.

"Your Highness?" Hearing this, everyone was stunned.

Dugtrio was also somewhat incredulous.

Draconis, as if he had expected it, said:

"If I'm not mistaken, you should be very good at loosening soil and plowing, right? Next, we need you to help us reclaim land and turn over the soil to compensate for our losses. What do you think?"

Dugtrio was a little down, but at this moment, what else could she do?

"Squeak..."

The next second, Draconis received a notification that Dugtrio had become a member of the territory.

Draconis: "..."

He inexplicably felt that this Dugtrio was a bit pitiful and naive, what was going on?

Ultimately, it wasn't entirely her fault; after all, after hibernating for an entire winter, Dugtrio must have been very hungry, which is why she came to the surface to look for food, and then by chance, ate their crop seedlings.

Thinking of this, Draconis softened his tone and said: "Since you are willing to take responsibility for your mistake, we will forgive you for now!"

"Also." Draconis looked at a Knight and instructed: "Go get some Berries and some tree roots."

Although the Knight was puzzled, he still turned and went to carry out the task.

Soon, he returned with some Sitrus Berries and tree roots.

The Sitrus Berries were picked from the wild, and the tree roots were waste materials removed when trees were cut down earlier.

Draconis placed these tree roots and Berries in front of Dugtrio and said: "Eat, you'll have the strength to work when you're full."

"Squeak..." Dugtrio looked at the food in front of her in disbelief.

Draconis continued: "As payment for your work, we will provide you with such food every day."

"Squeak..." Dugtrio was stunned, then a bright light burst from her eyes: "Squeak!"

"Your Highness..."

Seeing this situation, several farmers, however, felt uneasy; their faces were full of worry.

After all, they were just monsters; what if they secretly ate the crops in the fields again later?

Draconis reassured them with his gaze; he patiently waited for Dugtrio to finish eating, and then he spoke:

"Dugtrio, let me see your strength, can you use Rototiller?"

"Squeak!"

The full Dugtrio felt full of energy.

She stood on the ground, and the next second, a surge of energy erupted from her body, and the earth rippled like water.

The originally flat land became uneven under the influence of this power, and then, Dugtrio began to move forward with great effort.

And all the land it passed through was tilled, the originally hard soil becoming soft and full of vitality.

Dugtrio moved quickly, and in just a few minutes, this barren land was reclaimed into a vibrant field!

The farmers present all stared at this scene, dumbfounded.

What, what exactly was going on?!

Draconis smiled slightly.

Rototiller, a Ground-type move, its effect is to turn over the soil, making plants easier to grow, and it can increase the Attack and Special Attack of Grass-type Pokémon.

With this move, they could farm more quickly and conveniently, and more importantly, the nutrients in the soil would allow crops to grow faster and better.
