Chapter 58 - Chapter 58: Silencing the Witness

Soon, the army, having received the news, arrived to take all the civilians back for resettlement.

Lucas and Erza returned to the capital with them.

After everyone had left, a short figure appeared in the distance.

It was none other than Makarov, the Master of Fairy Tail.

Makarov valued the children of the guild greatly and treated Lucas and Erza like his own kids.

He naturally wouldn't leave them unsupervised during the S-Class exam quest. Gildarts went to look after Laxus and Freed.

He chose to follow Lucas and Erza.

"That brat! He almost gave me a heart attack."

Makarov patted his chest. He had been ready to intervene several times just now, but this was, after all, a very important exam for the children.

Unless absolutely necessary, he couldn't interfere; otherwise, ruining such an important exam would be bad.

When the Dark Magic Cultists started massacring civilians, he was ready to cast "Fairy Law" to wipe them all out.

But he stopped when he noticed Lucas activating the magic shield in the nick of time.

Then, seeing the Battle God descend, his face changed drastically. If he hadn't seen Lucas looking so confident, he would have acted long ago.

Especially when that greatsword struck Lucas, he almost cried out.

Turns out, the brat was unharmed. Clearly, he took the hit on purpose.

"How on earth does that brat train? Is he really this strong now?"

He saw the Battle God's attack with his own eyes. That level of power was no less than that of a Wizard Saint.

Yet Lucas defeated it easily. Didn't that mean Lucas's current strength was comparable to a Wizard Saint?

A fourteen-year-old Wizard Saint... just thinking about it was terrifying.

"That brat really is a monster!"

Then Makarov smiled. Naturally, the stronger his children were, the happier he was as a father figure.

However, this brat really kept a low profile in the guild. If he had known the kid had this kind of power, he wouldn't have come.

Seeing that everything was over, Makarov prepared to return to the guild.

Back at the palace, Lucas successfully received the 15 million Jewel reward.

The King of Avaro didn't dare renege on the debt. The terrifying traces of battle and the accounts of everyone present made it clear: this young man's power was terrifying.

If he were a villain, no one would dare object even if he robbed the entire country. Who would dare refuse to pay him?

After getting the reward, Lucas and Erza started their journey back early the next morning.

The King and his ministers all came out to see them off. Their enthusiastic demeanor was completely different from their initial attitude.

Dungeon of the Avaro Capital

Yarok was bound by chains, his body covered in wounds. Clearly, the kingdom's people hadn't let the culprit who nearly sacrificed thirty thousand people off easily.

At this moment, footsteps were heard.

A female voice rang out. "Oh my, oh my! High Priest Yarok, look at what you've become."

Hearing this voice, Yarok trembled. He slowly opened his eyes and looked forward. Seeing the person, he showed a joyful expression as if seeing a savior. "Saintess... Saintess... Save... save me..."

The person was a young, beautiful girl, about fifteen years old.

"Save you? Ah! Of course I'll save you."

The girl had a brilliant smile. She placed her hand on the lock, which immediately corroded and aged. The cell door opened easily.

"Thank you, Saintess! Thank you, Saintess!"

Squish!

A dagger pierced Yarok's back.

Yarok looked in disbelief. "Saintess... you... ugh..."

"High Priest Yarok, you failed to complete the mission assigned from above. Do you think you can leave here alive?"

"Besides, you used that magic. You don't have much time left anyway. To avoid leaking intelligence detrimental to the organization, the higher-ups asked me to send you on your way. This saves you too—at least your death won't be so painful."

Yarok struggled, but he had already lost most of his life force and was half-dead. After being tortured by the jailers and now stabbed in a vital spot, he couldn't even move a finger.

A few seconds later, Yarok died, eyes wide with resentment.

"Tsk tsk. Master Hades really taught this guy an incredible magic, but the side effects are just too scary."

After speaking, the girl left the dungeon. Before leaving, the cell door lock was restored to its original state. If not for the dagger in Yarok's back, it would look as if no one had ever been there.

Although everyone in this branch of the Dark Magic Cult was wiped out, the thirty thousand civilians meant for sacrifice were still alive. Before coming here, she didn't even need to ask around to learn the whole story.

She knew a Fairy Tail mage named Lucas had taken care of Yarok and the cult.

She had specifically visited the scene. The traces of destruction were indeed terrifying.

"Lucas of Fairy Tail... I didn't expect Fairy Tail to have such a monster. Looks like we'll need to pay more attention in the future."
