Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Mutants… Or Something Worse?

"Invite me to join you?"

The result was far beyond anything Frank had expected.

"That's right. We've read the papers — they say you're a mutant.

And right now, you're clearly in trouble. Erik believes… you could use our help."

The Toad Man stated the reason simply.

"No, you're already struggling on your own. I don't think you're in any position to help anyone else."

At that moment, Qin Xiao suddenly cut in.

"And who are you? Another mutant?" The Toad Man looked at him suspiciously.

Before Qin Xiao could speak, Frank took over.

"No, we're not mutants. We're Fruit Ability Users.

I don't know who this 'Erik' you're talking about is,

but the fact that you didn't even figure out who I really am tells me you're not exactly reliable.

This is Qin — the Demon Envoy from the East.

He creates Fruit Ability Users through the Demon Fruits.

And I'm simply one of those users."

Frank looked at the Toad Man and Sabretooth with thinly veiled disappointment.

Both of them were clearly mutants with beast-like traits,

yet they didn't even understand what they were dealing with.

They really believed what the newspapers said.

The papers called him a mutant only to fan the flames of war between humans and mutants.

"Demon Envoy? You're the Demon Envoy!"

Hearing Frank's words, the Toad Man's face changed instantly.

"Oh? So you've heard my name. Though I can't imagine I've done anything worth such attention."

"For the past few months, we've been hearing rumors about a so-called Demon Envoy.

They say an Eastern demon has invaded the Western world —

you think we could just ignore something like that?

That's a clash between demons from two worlds.

One small mistake, and all of us could be in trouble.

Though it's remained just a rumor all this time,

and we've never actually found any trace of demons appearing…

we still made preparations.

What I didn't expect was that the so-called Eastern Demon Envoy

would turn out to be such an ordinary-looking man."

The Toad Man stared at Qin Xiao, astonished — but then, a touch of disdain crept into his eyes.

This man from the East was far too plain.

They had imagined countless terrifying images of a Demon Envoy,

yet the real one was just… this?

Just an ordinary man from the East.

"Ordinary, am I?

Well, perhaps soon you'll find out who really looks ordinary."

Qin Xiao's voice was calm, but his tone carried an inexplicable edge.

People working under Magneto always had something wrong with them.

"What do you mean by that?"

The Toad Man felt a strange tension in the air.

Even Sabretooth beside him was starting to grow restless.

"Did you really think I brought you into this space just to chat?

No — since you're here, you're going to fight Frank.

We'll see whether mutants or Fruit Ability Users are stronger.

And when this is over, perhaps it'll be you spreading our name."

The moment Qin Xiao finished speaking, Frank began walking toward them.

As he moved, ripples shimmered across his body —

and a dagger materialized in his hand.

He didn't know the full extent of the two mutants' abilities,

and he didn't want to kill them.

So he chose not to use heavy weapons.

A dagger would do nicely.

"Let's see what you two can really do."

Frank twirled the dagger in his hand.

"Frank, don't hold back," Qin Xiao said from behind him.

"That Sabretooth has an incredible healing factor

and the primal instincts of a beast.

As for the Toad Man, his jumping power is tremendous,

and his tongue can stretch and lash out like a whip.

Their names speak for their powers."

The two mutants stiffened in shock.

"You… you know our abilities?"

"As a Demon Envoy, do you really think there's anything I don't know?

You just said the rumors about me have been spreading for months —

did you think I wouldn't come prepared?"

Once again, Qin Xiao was weaponizing information asymmetry.

As a transmigrant, of course he knew all about their powers —

but Sabretooth, the Toad Man, and even Frank didn't know that.

To them, Qin Xiao's mysterious aura only grew stronger.

In their minds, his danger level instantly rose several notches.

Frank, however, finally relaxed.

Since his opponent had a powerful healing factor,

he didn't need to hold back anymore.

The dagger spun lightly in his hand —

and in the other, a submachine gun appeared.

"Sabretooth, is it?

Let's see just how tough you really are."
