The quest was called Razor and the Fourteen Devils.

That was also the name of Razor's Hatsu. Until someone interesting enough showed up to challenge the gate, the Fourteen Devils were not Nen beasts. They were the fourteen pirates sitting on Soufrabi.

Trigger condition: a party of fifteen players reaches the city and starts hunting the specified card, Plot of Beach.

Ronin had paid for bodies so the quest would fire and put him on pirate ground. He did not mind taking the card while he was here. A few months inside the game had already filled most of the binder. Plot of Beach was one of the last pieces. After that, clearing the game would be simple. He already knew what the final gate was.

What Gon and Killua would walk into afterward was the entertaining part. Fresh reset, or an update with new content? If he cleared it, he would ask the developers. A new game would be worth a few extra days.

A straight fight with Razor only required the lighthouse. Taking Plot of Beach meant beating him inside the event the game had written.

An NPC laid out the story as if it were real. Rumor said the Sea God's dwelling sat somewhere in these waters. The rumor had drawn pirates to Soufrabi. They had taken the coast and never found the treasure.

There was no treasure. Ronin already knew that. The "hoard" was the stretch of water that turned gold when the rising sun hit it. That view was Plot of Beach.

They followed the marker to the bar the pirates used most. The fortress and the lighthouse sat behind it.

Noise spilled out as they arrived—drinking, shouting, fist-guessing games.

The hired players were already gone. Shadow clones walked in their place. Ordinary players would not push the bar pirates far enough to make Razor come out.

The mood died the moment too many strangers crossed the threshold. Hard faces turned as one.

A fat pirate did not bother with manners.

"Who the hell are you? We rented the place today. Get lost."

Someone behind him laughed.

"Rented today too, heh."

Ronin swept the room once. The man he wanted was not in it. His eyes came back to the pirate in front of him.

"I came to talk."

"About what?"

"Whether you'll leave the city."

The bar exploded into laughter. They treated it like the best joke they had heard in months.

"Haven't heard that one in years." The fat pirate set his feet. "Captain decides. So we do this the simple way. You beat me and I'll—"

He never finished.

Ronin was already in front of him. The kick folded the man at the waist and threw him through the wall.

Showing strength first was faster than a string of official matches. Make the gap obvious. Force Razor to step in himself.

The fat pirate hit the street and slept like a baby.

Ronin looked at the ones still standing.

"Well?"

A tall, thin pirate studied him, then jerked his chin.

"Come with me."

Someone ran out to haul the fat man up. The thin pirate led them around the bar to the shore. Ronin had not expected the fat one to be on his feet again, but there he was, walking with them toward the fortress. There was no hate in the look he gave Ronin. Only respect. The only person who had ever kicked him like that was Razor. He wanted to see if the captain could win.

"He really does worship strength," Neon murmured.

"Better than the ones who can't count." Ronin had no problem with people who understood a beating. He had a problem with people who could not control themselves and could not read a room.

They entered the fortress. A full-sized court opened in front of them. Pirates were training across it.

Ronin's eyes found the man at the edge before anyone pointed him out. Squinting lids. Short black hair standing up. Mid-thirties. Muscle laid on in hard lines. A dumbbell in one hand.

The man looked up at the same instant.

Something wordless locked between them. Ten became Ren on both sides without a decision being made.

Strong.

The thought hit them together.

Every pirate in the hall felt the spike and turned. They knew what Razor's Ren felt like. The young stranger who had just walked in was matching it.

Razor set the dumbbell down and came over.

"Who are they?"

His gaze left Ronin and ran the line behind him. Shizuku, Abachi, Neon did not change anything in his face. The rest of the group did. The squint opened a fraction.

He had noticed.
