Chapter 98 - Chapter 98 : Planning for the Future with Guilliman

The Warmaster, located on Macragge, saw the notification after training.

Without hesitation, he immediately chose to update.

After more than ten minutes, the data slate update was complete.

Two brand new functions appeared:

one was 'teleport back to city', and the other was 'regional chat channel'.

The Warmaster clicked into the regional chat channel.

Tenjiro: "Good heavens, this update speed is really fast."

Twisted person: "Just a few days ago, they said they were going to release Version 2.0, and now we can teleport back to the city?"

Bald Donkey: "Why don't we try it?"

Tenjiro: "I've already tried it. Sotha teleported to the Imperial Glory, it was instantaneous. You guys on Macragge should try it."

"…"

The regional communication channel was filled with Players from Sotha and Macragge chatting.

Tenjiro: "There are no Players from the Atoma area. It seems our real-time chat function can only be used between Sotha and Macragge."

Bald Donkey: "This is already incredible."

Zhuge: "It seems to be a function that the Pharos Lighthouse itself has. When the Pharos Lighthouse points to Macragge, real-time communication can be achieved. If it doesn't point to Macragge, real-time communication is not possible."

Old Bird: "This problem is simple. Just build a few more lighthouses, establish an intergalactic internet, set up a few relay stations, and the entire galaxy can be networked."

Tenjiro: "I'm so angry, what about the employment of us psykers?"

Desert: "This is the pain of the era, a necessary sacrifice."

Old Bird: "It seems no one has teleported from Macragge yet. Who wants to be the first guinea pig?"

Twisted person: "Of course, something like this is for @Warmaster."

Warmaster: "Why don't you teleport?"

Twisted person: "I'm already on Sotha, how can I teleport? Teleport back to city is a one-way ticket; you can only go back, not to other places."

Tenjiro: "Warmaster, you are the most outstanding among us. You wouldn't back down, would you?"

Desert: "You are Warmaster Adolfo, be spirited, don't lose face."

Zhuge: "Think about the cheering citizens of Atoma, how passionately you spoke back then."

Looking at the string of messages, the Warmaster was convinced.

"Alright, alright, stop buttering me up."

"You guys are just showering me with compliments because you want me to be the guinea pig, right?"

Tenjiro: "We can't help it. You're the highest-ranked one here."

Bald Donkey: "Yes, my current faith points aren't even enough to upgrade skills. Otherwise, I would be this guinea pig."

The Warmaster sent a contemptuous emoji in the channel.

Then, he operated on the data slate, selected the Imperial Glory, and clicked 'teleport back to city'.

After waiting a few seconds,

"Do you confirm that you want to consume 1025 faith points to return to the Imperial Glory?"

The Warmaster clicked confirm without hesitation.

"Request received, processing."

"Your coordinates have been locked, please do not move."

"Warp countdown 30s, 29s, 28s… 3s, 2s, 1s, 0s."

"Warping…"

As the countdown on the data slate reached zero,

the Warmaster felt the surrounding spatial environment twist for a moment.

By the time everything around him returned to normal,

he appeared out of thin air on the Imperial Glory's teleportation deck.

Tenjiro, Twisted person, and others who were nearby cheered when they saw the Warmaster.

"He really came."

"Awesome, YYDS."

The Warmaster looked at Tenjiro and Twisted person in front of him, also filled with joy.

"This teleportation is really convenient."

The Warmaster opened the data interface, clicked into the chat channel,

"Brothers, confirmed, the return-to-city function really works. Macragge to the Imperial Glory only takes a few seconds."

"@Bald Donkey, stop farming goodwill, hurry up and teleport over."

Bald Donkey: "Alright, I'm coming."

A dozen seconds later, Bald Donkey appeared on the teleportation deck.

"This is truly amazing. Sotha and Macragge are so far apart, yet I was instantly teleported."

"I need to tell the other brothers to teleport over too."

"…"

The Players who discovered the new function were having a blast.

One by one, they teleported from Macragge.

Once the novelty wore off, they all looked at each other, bewildered.

Teleporting over only required a flick of a finger,

but going back would be a pain; they would have to slowly fly back by ship.

The official forum was also buzzing with discussion.

The cloud Players were all gnashing their teeth.

They hadn't even managed to get a spot in the closed beta!

Those guys were already playing with teleportation.

"They should all be killed."

"When will the ninth batch of closed beta spots be released?"

"Extreme sadness, extreme sorrow."

"How many versions have I missed already? Do I have to wait until the Emperor and the Chaos Gods / The Four Gods battle before I can get a closed beta spot to be a war correspondent?"

"…"

While the Players were trying out the new functions, and the cloud Players were gnashing their teeth,

Alex was calibrating the Imperial Glory's lighthouse array with Cortana.

Unlike the Astromican, which is based on psychic design,

the Pharos Lighthouse was built by the Necrons during the Paradise War under the guidance of the C'tan.

It operates on the principle of quantum entanglement resonance, functioning according to the user's thoughts.

If the user thinks of Macragge, the lighthouse will point to Macragge.

In this way, Macragge can achieve navigation and faster-than-light communication.

Alex sat on the throne connected to the lighthouse. The first planet he thought of was Terra, but it was quickly rejected.

Immediately after, he thought of Atoma.

The quantum entanglement device installed at the bottom of the ship roared, and the spaceship vibrated violently.

Cortana adjusted the ship's buffer structure, releasing the impact formed by the quantum pulse engine into the void.

A projection formed in front of Alex, outlining a blurry shadow.

The lighthouse's power has limitations.

The Calixis Sector is too far from Ultramar.

Only a blurry shadow could be outlined.

Alex thought of Feng, and the projection changed again, outlining a magnificent meeting room.

He saw Planetary Governor Feng, as well as Bishop Hyderak, and Tech-Sage Kaska.

The figures of the three of them were very blurry, but they could still be vaguely recognized.

"The Guide still hasn't sent any news, and the Colin Family's influence is growing," Hyderak said.

"Let them come. The Valanxius Family never betrays; we will fight to the last man," Feng said with determination.

"Governor, there's something I must seriously remind you of: you are the last of the Valanxius Family, and your wife isn't pregnant yet."

Kaska interrupted Feng with the Adeptus Mechanicus's unique humor.

"Is this the time to be talking about that?" Feng immediately felt annoyed. "I'm expressing my resolve to resist the Colin Family."

"The Adeptus Mechanicus will only follow objective laws; you are indeed the last one."

Alex tried to call them.

"Feng? Hyderak? Kaska?"

"…"

After several attempts, there was still no response.

With no other choice, Alex could only cut off the connection and choose another communication target: Guilliman.

In the spire district of Tirien Hive City on Planet Atoma,

Feng, who was discussing matters with Bishop Hyderak and Sage Kaska in the conference room, suddenly showed a look of surprise and scanned in all directions.

"What's wrong with you?" Hyderak asked.

"I think I heard the Guide's voice. Is he here??" Feng's tone was filled with confusion.

"You're hallucinating, aren't you?" Hyderak said bluntly, "Lord Guide is currently on Macragge."

"But I really did hear it just now, a very faint voice." Feng was a bit uncertain.

"By the omnissiah, you have no psychic talent. Even if Lord Guide wanted to speak with you, he couldn't," Sage Kaska denied Feng's words with cold language.

"Alright, maybe I really was hallucinating," Feng said.

On the Bridge deck of the Imperial Glory, a Queen-class battleship.

"Who would have thought that after ten thousand years, I would see the light of the Pharos Lighthouse again. It reminds me of Dantioch, a loyal Iron Warrior, whom Perturabo humiliated for his pathetic self-esteem."

Guilliman looked at Alex's projection and smiled.

Alex said, "Discussing Perturabo is meaningless. Let's talk about the Pharos Lighthouse instead."

"It works by inducing the principle of quantum entanglement between particles."

"Quantum entanglement is a fundamental phenomenon of the universe, but the Pharos Lighthouse can somehow regulate its state, thereby creating resonance between different objects and locations—even repeatedly—over vast distances."

"It is a beacon and also a powerful weapon. If controlled, humanity might be able to minimize its reliance on the Warp."

Guilliman nodded.

"I know all this. When I first used it, someone gave me a detailed report describing its principles, mechanisms, and usage, and it was written by Dantioch."

"You might be confused as to why it wasn't the Adeptus Mechanicus, because the Adeptus Mechanicus at the time was already too rigid and pedantic."

"Who would have thought that they wasted several years just deciding whether to destroy or study the Pharos? Their inefficiency is truly infuriating and helpless."

Alex smiled, "Now you can cast aside that worry. This is the core technology of the Pharos Lighthouse."

"Cortana has already reverse-engineered it. This is a technological path humanity has never conceived of, and we only need to spend a little time to replicate these technologies."

"If humanity can build ten, twenty, or even a thousand such lighthouses to illuminate the sky, Warp Storms will no longer trouble us."

"Your speed is astonishing, and your vision is beautiful." Guilliman nodded. "But what about the risks? Everything has risks. If an endeavor only shows benefits, then my advice is not to do it."

"It might attract some bad things," Alex said. "The Pharos is not like the Astronomican. The Astronomican is protected by the Emperor's power, but the Pharos is not."

"Then there's no need to rush. We can evaluate whether to use this technology after realizing the risks it brings," Guilliman said. "Greed and impatience only lead to disaster, just like my father."

"The Emperor also believed that as long as the Webway was handled, humanity would be safe, so he launched the Great Crusade at all costs, built the Human Empire, and then gambled everything on the Webway."

"The outcome was losing all his friends, his sons turning against each other, and he himself suffering for ten thousand years on the Golden Throne."

"I will weigh the pros and cons," Alex said.

"That's for the best." Guilliman smiled. "The matter of Sotha is finished. How about assisting me in launching the campaign to reclaim Ultramar? That way, I can also quickly make my way to Terra."

Alex shook his head, "No, I must return to the Calixis Sector."

A hint of disappointment flashed in Guilliman's eyes. "So soon?"

"The rebellion there is escalating, and I need to go back and take charge of the situation," Alex explained.

"A portion of the Players will stay to fight with you, and I will implement new policies and various new technologies in the Calixis Sector."

"When you take control of Terra, you can use the Calixis Sector as a template to explore reforms."

"I will also use the Pharos Lighthouse technology in the Calixis Sector to see if a communication network can be established."

The two conversed for over two hours before cutting off communication. The quantum engine shut down, and the communication room fell into darkness.

Alex sat in the darkness, contemplating his return to the Calixis Sector.

The rebellion stirred up by the Colin Family was escalating.

It was time to go back and resolve the rebellion, and incidentally, test new technologies there.
