Chapter 99 - Chapter 99 : Natural Selection, Moving Forward

After resolving the matter on Sotha, Alex began preparations to return to the Calixis Sector.

Within the galaxy, Cortana could utilize the quantum resonance properties of two Pharos Lighthouse to observe and supervise Players within their coverage areas.

This perfectly solved the problem of the vast galactic territory making it impossible for him to supervise Players.

In the future, with more Pharos Lighthouse built, they could cover most of the galaxy, completely resolving the issues of Player mission issuance and reward distribution.

By then, no matter how far the distance, Alex would be able to issue missions and rewards to Players using the Pharos Lighthouse, and even allow Players to teleport between the Pharos Lighthouse.

The only pity was that Guilliman did not trust the technology of the Pharos Lighthouse enough.

Alex could understand Guilliman's mindset.

After the Horus Heresy, Primarch were wary of gifts from fate, fearing they would be exploited and deceived by the Chaos Gods again.

The Emperor's original plan was also perfect; if not for that fool Magnus and Abaddon, there really would have been no problems.

Those two fully demonstrated that no matter how bad the enemy, they couldn't cause as much damage as a teammate's sudden brilliant idea.

The Custodian Guard, the most elite troops of the Imperium.

Magnus's psychic call caused them to suffer heavy casualties in the Webway, rendering all of the Emperor's plans futile.

The Custodian Guard were forced to fight daemons in the Webway for several years with the Sisters of Silence and the Adeptus Mechanicus army.

During the final battle, they were so devastated that they had no blood left in their bodies, relying entirely on stimulants to sustain themselves.

This was also why there were not many Custodian Guard during the Siege of Terra.

If the Custodian Guard had assisted, the Siege of Terra could have lasted at least a third longer, or even more.

Abaddon, needless to say, what kind of genius throws his own Primarch into a pit of fire?

Abaddon, that genius, could.

First, without investigation, he rashly sent the injured Warmaster to the Davin Temple, even though Loken and Torgaddon of the Four Kings Council repeatedly advised against it, warning him that it was all Ahriman's conspiracy.

Abaddon, however, refused to listen, insisting on sending Horus into the temple.

When Horus's humanity awakened and he fought bravely against the Four Chaos Gods for humanity and his father, Abaddon even indulged his subordinates in using ritual daggers to stab Horus's humanity to death.

He truly embodied the word 'filial son' to the fullest.

The Emperor's plan was perfect, yet the Chaos Gods distorted it beyond recognition.

Underestimating the Chaos Gods comes at a heavy price.

They would wait patiently until humanity showed a weakness, then strike like a viper, directly at the vitals.

Alex planned to first use the new technologies in the Calixis Sector, and only after confirming they were problem-free would he promote them.

Before leaving, Alex spent some faith points to set the Macragge's Honour's chapel as the Players' resurrection point.

This way, the Players would follow Guilliman's actions.

This greatly improved Guilliman's mood, who had originally been annoyed by a chapel appearing on his flagship.

Before Guilliman was stabbed and put into stasis by Fulgrim, the Macragge's Honour had no chapel.

After all, at that time, the Imperial Truth was the mainstream, and as the Imperium's exemplary legion, the Thirteenth Legion had always been resolute in carrying out the Emperor's commands.

To help Alex quickly quell the rebellion in the Calixis Sector and promote reforms, Guilliman issued a letter of authorization in his capacity as Regent, entrusting the entire Calixis Sector and Koronus Expanse to his management.

He also transferred a battleship and several cruisers to supplement Alex's fleet, allowing him to better suppress the rebellion.

"How about I appoint you as the Warmaster of the Imperium? Once we return to Holy Terra (Earth/Reality), I will formally issue the appointment letter."

Guilliman suggested during the communication.

"It's better to give this position to someone more suitable for it."

Upon hearing this, Alex immediately politely refused.

Such an appointment couldn't be made carelessly.

By then, when the Lion returned, how resentful would his gaze be!!

Horus snatching my Warmaster title was one thing.

Now, a saint cosplaying Sanguinius is also taking my position.

Is there still justice? Is there still righteousness?

"Is there anyone in the current Imperium more suitable than you?"

Guilliman looked puzzled.

"Now, I am the Father's only true son; my other brothers have all departed, and the only one who can hold this position is you."

"That's hard to say," Alex shook his head, "Several Primarch are currently missing; only Ferrus and Sanguinius have confirmed death messages."

"Other Primarch have no confirmed bodies, so we cannot assume they are dead."

"When the Emperor created you, he created you according to the template of an immortal."

"Your theoretical physiological lifespan far exceeds ten thousand years; as long as there is no confirmed death message, they could return."

"I hope so."

Guilliman looked doubtful but still nodded.

Alex was unwilling to be the Warmaster now; they could discuss it later.

Now that the Pharos Lighthouse was in place, even if Alex returned to the Calixis Sector, they could establish contact, so there was no need to rush.

The Eldar Farseer Eldrad Ulthran came to see Alex before he left.

This Emperor's Saint's recent series of actions all demonstrated his influence on the fate of humanity.

Eldrad Ulthran had to treat this matter with caution.

"The Emperor's Saint."

Eldrad Ulthran's tone was respectful, without the arrogance Eldar usually showed towards humans.

"Farseer," Alex nodded, "Thank you, Eldar, for your help to humanity; I hope our cooperation can continue indefinitely."

"In this dark universe, there are not many races that can be allies against Chaos."

"That is very true," Eldrad Ulthran agreed profoundly. "The destinies of our two races are closely intertwined."

"I heard you plan to leave and return to the Calixis Sector."

Eldrad Ulthran's tone held a hint of regret.

"The Chaos Gods have already set their sights on Guilliman, and his traitorous brothers are plotting how to deal with him."

"Only you can help him return safely to Holy Terra (Earth/Reality)."

Eldrad Ulthran did not know that Alex could use Player teleportation.

Alex had no intention of telling him.

This was also a crucial trump card for the loyalists, not to be easily revealed.

"My return to the Calixis Sector does not mean I cannot help the Primarch anymore."

"On the contrary, my departure will allow me to help him better. If both he and I remain here, the Chaos Gods could gather their strength to deal with us."

Eldrad Ulthran nodded. "Such considerations also hold some truth. The fate of humanity is ultimately in your hands, and it is not right for us to interfere too much."

"Additionally, I also plan to leave. I have lingered on Macragge for too long."

"Where does the Prophet intend to go?" Alex inquired.

"The destiny of the Aeldari is now more sorrowful than that of humanity. The Biel-tan Craftworld has been destroyed."

"The Avatar of the Bloody-Handed and the Phoenix Lord wielding the Spear of Twilight were lost in the Webway. All these matters need to be dealt with."

Alex nodded. "Then I wish the Prophet a smooth journey. By the way, could you dispatch a few of your kin, skilled in the path of psychic powers, to the Calixis Sector to guide humanity on how to utilize psychic abilities?"

Eldrad Ulthran smiled. His previous gesture of goodwill towards the God Chosen had now been repaid.

This was a legitimate opportunity to place Aeldari members by their side.

Whether it was to understand the movements of this Emperor Saint or to draw humanity and the Aeldari closer, people first needed to be sent to the other side.

"Of course, I will contact the Usve Ark World and send a few friendly mentors."

"Thank you for your help to humanity," Alex reiterated.

"..."

After the conversation, Alex led a portion of the Players on the journey back to Calixis Sector.

Under his guidance, even amidst raging storms, the fleet sailed steadily through Immaterium.

Atoma was also flourishing.

With the outbreak of the Collin rebellion, many refugees fled here.

They brought abundant labor, technology, and capital, accelerating Atoma's industrial development once again.

Dora Workshop expanded several times, building various space factories and shipyards.

And recently, their first light cruiser, the 'Natural Selection', was about to undergo its maiden voyage test.

Although the Valanxius Family had declined, the Planet Atoma they controlled was once a prosperous world, possessing a complete industry for building voidships.

Among the refugees who escaped, there were many skilled workers and Tech-Priests.

After acquiring enough personnel, the complete shipbuilding industrial chain quickly restarted.

With the technical support of the Adeptus Mechanicus, and the Players' tireless efforts day and night.

In just a few months, the first light cruiser was completed and named 'Natural Selection' by the Players.

The Natural Selection is 1300 meters long and 414 meters high, equipped with macro cannons, lances, electromagnetic missiles, and other weapon systems.

It uses conventional plasma engines as its propulsion system in the Holy Terra (Earth/Reality), in conjunction with a Warp engine.

This vessel is also Dora Workshop's first attempt at modular construction and design.

If successful, this type of vessel will be mass-produced.

MC Myth was responsible for the maiden voyage test of the Natural Selection.

As a god-tier farming Player, he participated in a large amount of the design and production work for the Natural Selection.

Therefore, the testing mission also fell to him.

MC Myth stood on the Bridge of the Natural Selection, looking out at the vast void through the viewport.

This ship was very crude, with many burrs from welding still remaining in various places.

"Orbit cleared. The Natural Selection can ignite and set sail in ten minutes."

The voice from the control tower came through the communication.

"Natural Selection received. Igniting and setting sail in ten minutes."

MC Myth suppressed his excitement and repeated the message.

The control tower was silent, and on the Bridge, there was only the hum of machinery and the breathing of everyone present.

It was clear that everyone was very nervous.

After all, it was the first vessel built by the Players with Warp-faring capabilities.

MC Myth glanced at everyone and said humorously, "MC Legend, how are the battles between Trisolaris and Earth today?"

MC Legend was stunned for a moment, then laughed.

He stood up and performed an aquila salute.

"Reporting, Commander, the Earth fleet was completely destroyed yesterday, with only Bronze Age and Quantum surviving."

MC Myth showed an exaggerated expression.

"Those Trisolarans, they're going too far! Order Wade—no, order Black Watch to wipe out their homeworld and Cheng Xin along with it."

Seeing the two of them perform, the other Players all laughed, and the tense atmosphere was completely dispelled.

"Natural Selection, you may now ignite and set sail." The voice from the control tower came through the communication.

"Understood. The Natural Selection will ignite and set sail."

MC Myth finished replying to the control tower, then turned to face the many Players and the Tech-Priests on standby.

"Natural Selection, ignite, 'Full Ahead', let us set sail for the sea of stars!"
