Pain radiated through my body as I struggled helplessly, my hands and feet tightly bound by rough ropes. The coldness of the ground beneath me sent shivers down my spine, but it wasn't just the chill—it was the creeping fear that was taking hold of my mind. I wasn't sure what Alian's purpose was in kidnapping me this time. Maybe it was about Dennis, my son, whom Alian always viewed as a key pawn in his power games. Or perhaps his target was Jackie—someone I knew had become Alian's bitter rival in the business world. He might be trying to force Jackie to give up something, or use me as leverage to seize what he couldn't obtain through normal means.
Questions swirled in my head, but I didn't have time to dwell on them. Footsteps echoed nearby, and I realized Alian had noticed that I was awake. I tried to keep my breathing steady, but before I could do anything, his familiar, mocking voice rang out, cold and full of smug satisfaction.
