Chapter 9 - The Class of Photon Knight

After a long while of bickering with Lumina, I decided to ask her opinion on what to do concerning my status window. I was not sure about the Arch Bishop. He seemed friendly to my family but I know something is up. It's the strange feeling of uncomfortability.

Lumina approached, and decided to give her honest opinion. She suggested I not tell my family about my god given talents. However, she could give a fake status window, kind of like a concealment spell, but for my stats. I could show my family my false stats and work from the shadows. She placed her hand on my forehead and called out my current stats. This surprised me but, I quickly made terms with it. She was a goddess after all.

" Although they are impressive for a newly awakened, they aren't special enough to draw any unwanted attention. Also, next time you want to talk, please just say my name and give a short prayer. You'll be transmigrated to this realm in a snap. Kay?".

Although I was annoyed, I was still grateful. I thanked her and soon after, I was back in my body with the same flash of light that took me away. The Arch Bishop looked at my stats with his peer skill. And he could only see the stats for the Photon Knight. He was glad I inherited my father's class and called out to my family, who were quite excited. My father embraced me with overwhelming joy. His embrace was so tight, it took my mother's death glare to pry him off me. My sister came and congratulated me for unlocking such a great class and even begining at level 50.

We thanked the Bishop and went home. Back at the mansion, all manner of noblemen and women from far and wide came to celebrate my coming of age. This included my extended family, my father's brother, Duke Austin Grimmseley. He congratulated me and introduced me to his daughter and my cousin, Claudette Grimmseley. She was pretty, but my senses were telling me she was bad news. Although she had a warm smile and polite manners, my senses were never wrong. I excused myself and went to sit back on my chair, next to Alesha, who took the liberty to give me my surprise side gift before her main gift arrives. It was telecommunications device. A crystal pendant. She had one too and when we wore it, she could hear my thoughts and I could hear hers. She thought it best to have it on since we will be going to the same academy.

My father soon came and grabbed the nobility's attentions. Giving a heart felt speech, he introduced me as the future successor of the Photon blade and the future futal Lord of Vansneath. Applause resounded as I took a humble bow and introduced myself.

It was now time for gifts. My mother was first. She brought me her S rank artifact spell books and wand, since I hand a gift for elemental magic. I was so touched, I ran to give her a hug, not caring about decorum and behaviour. She patted my head gently, holding back emotions to save face.

My sister was next. She called out for Regis, the family Butler who brought in a special class magical uniform with S grade enchantments. She explained that since I was about to head to school, she decided to have my uniform enchanted by high level magicians. I knew she had saved alot to have these made and thanked her. However, I refused a hug, since she could squeeze me without letting go and ruin the atmosphere of the party.

Lastly my dad came,

" this was once my trusted blade. We have fought countless battles together and I hope it serves you well as it has me".

The guest applauded as I took the blade in hand, while on one knee.

The maids and man servants including Regis and Anna-May, all wished me a happy fourteenth birthday as the night of festivities came to a close.

I had never celebrated my birthday before, and this was a marvelous first experience. I was willing to do whatever it took if it meant, protecting the smiles of loved ones.
