Chapter 5 - 4.I Have to Take on a Hell Priest

I knew that I would not be able to take everything that they had left hand on and survive.

It was because of this truth that I put on the wrist piece that was the cloaking field generator.

This would give me the edge that I needed to thin out the numbers even if it was only for a short time.

As soon as I activated the cloakIng field I quietly stepped my way across the room and was able to kill the first of the 6 hellhounds that were there with ease, as I stabbed it directly on the spine and it became paralyzed for short time before it died due to blood loss.

After the first one fell onyo the ground lifless from my stealth attack the Hell Preist stood up and heard him starting to chat in a touge that I could not understand.

While he spoke in the odd language, I noticed that a red magical circle was forming around him with his feet as the base and center of the circle.

That told me that I did not have very long before he got finished with whatever he was chanting. This meant that I needed to be fast in my attempts to defeat the hellhounds so that I could send their numbers as much as possible before he got finished.

So I rushed at the second hellhound that was close to me, and i was able to take it down quickly with a single strike to its spine just like the first one.

When the second hellhound lifeless , on the ground; I noticed that the Hell Priest had finished his chanting.

Then I saw a massive red eyeball that was flamely enhanced show up above the Hell Priest. It was after that I noticed that my stealth was canceled.

How was I going to defeat someone with this level of demonic magic as well as the four hellhounds that were left.

"AttacK this weekling. If they are relying on something as simple as stealth, they are not worth keeping alive.

Remember what matters is that we survive for ten days and evolve. Then after that, ten days later , we can cross over and start to attack the invaders who dare tarnish our home with their presence."

The remainIng hellhounds all started to attack me in unison one after the other, but this time , I was able to sidestep , a little easier do to my slightly raised agility stat.

I struck the first of the hell hounds that rushed at me by chopping off its neck.

As soon as I finished striking the first hell hound down, I quickkly sidestepped able to dodge it at the last second.

Then I lunged at the side of the second hellhound that I just side stepped away from.

Then blood spewed out all over the ground as I lunged my dagger into its side.

"I call forth the black flames of the Demon Lord of Burning Carnage. Grant me the black flames from the deepest parts of hell.So that I may purge our world of the invader.". I heard the Hell Priest say as I was fighting the hellhounds.

Then I saw a set of black balls of fire that were conjured from the grimoire that the Hell Priest was carrying.

As the balls of flame were\nThrown at me, I tried to dodge by sidestepping like usual , but they seem to follow me wherever I went. This meant that there would be only one way for me to avoid these balls of black flame.

I ran towards two of the hellhounds and at the last second as they were about to make contact with me, I dodged them at the last second.

This made it where the balls of black fire hit the two hellhounds that were around me instead.

Now all I had left to worry about was the last hillhound, and the Hell Priest for I cleared my first portal by myself.

The final hellhound rushed at me, but this time I dove onto the ground, as it approached me and sliced it through the belly.

"Now that there is nothing else left for you to battle. Then I will be taking this fight seriously. All the power that you have seen unleash is only a fraction of my potential." The Hell Priest said in an argument tone.

" Good to hear.I honestly thought this was going to be as boring as fighting all of the hellhounds." I said in an arrogant voice myself , even though it was just a facade , because I was actually quite scared at the thought of fighting a Hell Priest. This was because I was told that the creatures from hell could sense our fear and exploited as a weakness.

I began to rush at the boss of this portal, and as I ran at the enemy.I was looking for a joint or an opening in their armor so that I could strike at the weakest point with my dagger.

With every time that I passed the enemy in my zigzag dash tactic , I ended up striking them four seperate times, but with each strike; I was unable to find the weak point in their armor.

"I call fourth the power that was granted to me by the lord of the dead that resigns in the ninth level of hell.

With this boost to my power, I activate Infernal Pleuge." The enemy said as I was dashing around trying to find the weakness in his armor.

Then a beam of what seemed like a beam of death was shot from his grimoire after he had finished his chant.

I dodged the beam rather easily since it only shot in a straight line.

He then started to chant again, but he was a little quicker with it now.

"Dusl casting Black Magic Invocation pair with Hellfire Benidiction".

I knew that this was not going to be good, but I knew that I must have backed the enemy into a corner since it was alone since the enemy had to do a dual casting.

After the Hell Priest had finished the chanting a large magic circle made of pure dark red energy showed up in between us and four lesser demons spawned. They were wrapped in an armor of burning flame, but they did not seem to be hurt by it at all.

Upon seeing what happened, I chose to rush at the first of the lesser demons.

When I made it to the first enemy i started to sweat intensely due to the intense heat that was wrapped around them. I instinctively jumped back away from the summoned lesser demons due to their intense flame.

Since I knew that my melee weapons would not work, I chose to run away to the entrance of the cave so that I could use my snipe.Rifle to take them out at a distance.

I set up my sniper rifle at the entrance of the cave, and aimed down the entrance hallway.

Through my scope I was able to notice that the lesser demons followed me.

I took my time and shot each one in the center of their heads which killed them. They each died in a single shot apiece.

They were only able to die in a in a single shot since I hit each of them in a critical spot.

After that , I exchanged mags in my sniper rifle, which meant I only had a total of sixteen bullets left.

I made my way back into the room where I was battling at the Hell Priest.

"How in the name of the 9 hells did you survive a battle with the lesser demons that I summoned while they weren't enhanced with my fire spell!" He exclaimed in a clearly raged state at what he was seeing.

I rushed at him, swinging my dagger hoping to find a week point in his armor once again. This time however, I made contact and with every successful strike and he seemed to be staggered every time I made contact.

He must have not have had enough magic left to put up a defensive barrier or reduce the impact of my strikes.

This meant that I had an opportunity to secure victory, and I did not let up.

With every strike that I lunged at him with he seemed to get slower and slower until eventually he fell to the ground on his hands knees.

"You were a worthy opponent, but I ended up being the smarter individual. With this strike , I put your life at an end." I said to him as I swung at the back of his neck chopping his undead head off in a single strike.

When the Hell Priest vanished in his place I saw a floating black book.

According to what I was told when I was being trained to become a Gildes Vanguard when you kill the final boss of a portal then a skill book is in its place. The skills that you will receive is somewhat determined by the type of enemy that you defeated, but it is also partially random.

Since I did not want to blindly accept the skill from this book I chose to read the cover of it first before deciding what to do.

The book title read: Summon Lesser Demon. While I knew that this skill would be rather useful, I did not think that it would be of any use to me.So I chose to keep it and sell it for more money, instead of obtaining the knowledge inside.

Would I be able to get enough money after selling the skill book, or should I keep it in case of the possibility that I may run into another Gilded Vanguard that I could trust enough to make them a member of my team?
