Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

vidson was still lost in his subconscious world that he didn't know when Jayden walked back in.

"Dude, what the hell are you thinking about?"

"Nothing serious," he replied." What's going on?"

"Your mum wants us in the basement."

"Is anything amiss?"

"To be honest, I don't know and we have two minutes to get down there."

"Why didn't you say that earlier?" Davidson asked as he jumped down from his bed and rushed out of the room while Jayden followed with a cunning smile on his face.

Mrs Hills was one who worked with time and spared no one from her punishments; not even her dear son. Once when Davidson was late to a meeting, Mrs Hills shot him on the leg on his arrival to reprimand him for keeping her waiting. If there was one person they wouldn't dare cross after Davidson, it was Mrs Hills. But over the years, Davidson had grown stronger and no longer feared her, what he now had was immense respect.

"I'm here," he announced immediately. "What's going on?"

"Well, well, well," she started." We are forming an alliance with the Trevor's family and you, Davidson is required to seal that alliance."

"That's no big deal. When is it?"

"Two days from now. I hope you can handle it efficiently. I want no mistakes. No traces."

"Understood mum." He said and watched her leave. His mum was one with words. There was no alliance taking place. That was just her way of saying he had to take the life of Trevor Martinez, the head of the Trevor's empire. It was something he knew he could do within the twinkle of an eye.

But for the time being, all he wants to do is to think about his beloved Jasmine…

Jasmine and her friend Daisy were going through Daisy's wedding list in preparation for her upcoming wedding when Daisy suddenly remembered.

"That reminds me, my boss has been giving me a hard time recently."

Jasmine sighed inwardly. Although Daisy worked as an underground mafian under the Hills which Jasmine had no idea about, she was working with a large firm in the city.

"That?" Jasmine asked obviously uninterested.

"Come on, Jasmine. Don't be so sarcastic. You know what I mean. He is in love with you and he is damned serious. And besides, I thought you were starting to pick interest and I was even thinking of arranging a meeting between the both of you. What suddenly changed?"

"Nothing," Jasmine quickly replied and picked up a shoe." This shoe should go with your wedding dress, shouldn't it?"

Daisy collected the shoe and dropped it.

"There's still plenty of time for me to decide what shoe to wear, so don't ever try to change the topic. Why did you suddenly lose interest?" She asked and leant forward in eager conspiration." Who is the lucky man? Come on, spill it out."

"You know, Daisy, have I ever told you that you and my mum act as though you are twin sisters?"

"Of course, we are. Besides, she told me everything already."

"Gosh, now tell me, have you and my mum ever conspired to sell me off?"

"Couple of times," Daisy laughed." It was wrong of you not to tell me at least a word about it. What are friends for?"

"I was going to tell you but you have been busy planning your big day and I didn't want to ruin it. But my mum has already told you. Daisy, could you imagine that she wants seven grandchildren from me?"Jasmine asked as Daisy burst into laughter." It's not funny though."

"Oh…oh…" it was a futile attempt trying to control her laughter. When she finally did, she said," How far is your relationship with him?"

"A few months old."

"Okay. Do you really love this guy?"

"Are you kidding me, Daisy? I love him so much but it seems that he loves me more than I can imagine. He wants us married and mum is all for it."

"I'll advise you to take things slow with him. Watch him closely to see if truly he is the one for you.Because I would never take it lightly with him if anything happens to you. Make him understand that, okay?" Daisy said and she nodded.

She then picked up the shoe she had dropped earlier." Don't you think this shoe is a little bit too low-heeled?"

Jasmine smiled and said,"Silly you."

Later on that evening, Davidson came by but met only Jane at home.

"Good evening," he smiled warmly.

"Evening. Come inside."she returned the smile and he walked in to take a seat. "I'm sorry you came at a time Jasmine isn't around."

"It's no problem. I can wait for her return."

Jane smiled warmly and walked into the kitchen to get him something to drink. She came back and set the table in front of him.

"Thanks," he smiled.

"Don't mention," Jane replied and waited for him to take the first sip of his juice before she dropped her bombshell.

"Young man, how much do you love my daughter?"

Davidson was thrown aback by that question because Jane had always supported their relationship. At that point, he knew something was wrong but he couldn't decipher what it was.

"You know that I love Jasmine very much. She mean the world to me."

"How much are you willing to sacrifice for her sake?"

"Everything."Davidson replied and dropped the glass of juice on the table. "Is everything alright?"

Jane looked at him closely and dropped the bitter truth." I know who you are."

Davidson shifted uncomfortably in his chair. "Who am I?"

"Davidson Bryan-Hills."

The world around them suddenly paused for a while. And at that very moment, the door opened and Jasmine ran in.
