Chapter 10 - The mad scientist and the loser

"What… What do you think you are doing?" Hobin asked with a sense of urgency.

"Isn't it obvious? I'm taking your title as captain of the E rank from you. I am going to be the strong one, whereas you are the poor loser who lost after only one day."

"It isn't an official match. Do you think the board will approve of this?" Hobin scoffed.

"Easy now. You think you're the only one who's smart." He smirked and took out his phone. "Then allow me to prove you wrong. The match is streaming live on the school platform. Your beloved board is already watching it. Also, the reason you're not moving is that I hindered your movement with a small toxin". He said.

"When…? How…?" Hobin battled to stand up, but his vision grew worse. His eyes went red and his dry throat worsened.

"The moment you paused by the door. You cut a wire thread by the door. This triggered the cameras positioned in various locations. Then I waited right behind the exit to drop this smoke bomb, or as I call it, 'The X-Factor,' Aizawl said and laughed out loud.

Not possible to remove the adverb. I didn't agree to this.

"Like I care. But even still, who do you think called you last night? When we spoke, you seemed to be okay coming to the meeting. Transfusion that using AI and the conversation goes the way I planned. A challenge on the roof and a fight happening." He paused and wove his hair as though he were a girl. "It's quite astonishing what you can do with such technological intellect."

"That's a lie. "I refuse to let anyone beat me," Hobin wheezed.

"Huh? You don't get it, do you…?" Aizawl said and walked closer to him. "I hit you with a Capsaicin smoke + Zinc Chloride smoke. A powerful chemical toxin creates a smoke that fills the air. This smoke blurs vision and dries the throat. It can also suffocate my opponent until they pass out. True, it has a few weeks, yet…when used in the right environment it's chaotic," Aizawl said and laughed. "I have to thank you though…if you hadn't won against Pa Kong, I would have doubted your logic."

"What?!" Hobin mumbled.

"Why yes. I was simply fascinated by the full use of your brain against Pa Kong's muscle head. it got me thinking that I could win if I used my full knowledge of science. So…Thank you…universe! He screamed like a mad man. Looking up to the heavens as though God stared at him.

"Shut up!" Hobin snapped.

"And thank you, Hobin. I have discovered the ultimate weapon. I will use this to climb my way to the top. Zero fighting. science." He let out a hearty laugh.

"Shut up!!" Hobin snapped, but barely caught his attention.

Aizawl stared at the hovering drone camera. "Can you see that? That's right…I have defeated your E ranked loser. I am the one who would climb all the way up. Not with my fist….but with science."

"I said shut up! Hobin snapped one more time and rose up to land a quick blow on Aizawl."

He immediately dodged it and slammed a right kick into Hobin's chin. Hobin fell down and Aizawl stomped on him. To prevent getting further injury, Hobin wrapped himself up like a ball and kept his head tucked into his hands.

"That's right. You thought I was weak. Well, I am not. I have a few tricks up my sleeves. You worthless loser." Aizawl kept stomping, but paused when he felt he was landing any hits. He immediately switched and kicked his guts. Hobin coughed out foam and lay still on the floor.

"Huh. Is it over already? Aizawl asked and glared at Hobin. Hobin was still conscious and moved his lips to say something. "That's strange; the toxin wore him down, but he should be out by now. Why isn't he unconscious yet?" Aizawl thought to himself.

Hobin's lips moved slowly. He mumbled something, and it caught Aizawl's interest. Aizawl pulled his face in closer to hear what he was saying.

"Huh? What are you mumbling about…?" Aizawl asked and closed in again.

"Such a type of trickery doesn't work on me." Hobin snapped and quickly slammed his right palm against the ground. He flipped over the already bending Aizawl and grabbed his neck. His legs knocked Aizawl backwards and both came crashing down. Hobin tightened his grip around Aizawl's neck and wished to strangle him out cold. Aizawl scratched his hand but Hobin didn't budge. Hardening his grip around his neck and forcing him to go to sleep.

"How…H-How did you break out of my toxin? Aizawl struggled to let the words out."

"Easy. Your toxins can be weakened by airflow or water. But let's face the fact, as a smart boy you observed the wind was heading north and issued your bomb there. So clearly you got me good. Regardless, there was a flaw in your plan," Hobin said and tightened the grip again. Aizawl struggled and attempted to hit his head on Hobin's chest.

"Water. My jacket was damped with water before I came up here. So I stuffed my face in my jacket when I noticed the kind of chemical it was. The effects are still locked in, but at least I have a room to still fight," Hobin said confidently.

"So…the effect were barely in. You cheap fuck. You faked those coughs to lure me in," Aizawl replied, almost sounding impressed.

"E... Exactly," Hobin grunted.

"How impressive. You are really smart. But this fight is far from over! Aizawl snapped and threw another smoke bomb out of his pocket into the air. Directly proportional to where they lay, meaning the bomb was going to hit them both. Hobin squirreled away and so did Aizawl. Both scrambled to the edge of the building when the smoke bomb exploded.

"This guy is really stacked with tricks," Hobin thought to himself as he availed himself of the bomb. He let out a cough and wiped his face with his almost-dried jacket.

"Knowledge meets knowledge. I like it," Aizawl said and chuckled like a true villain.

"You are not stopping," Hobin murmured with desperation.

"Stopping? No! This is only the beginning. Now for phase two." He pulled out two teaser poles, charged them up and smiled. "Oh we are only getting started, folks."
