Chapter 4 - Main Story: Chapter 3

** Ash Ketchum **

This isn't good..

Me and Pikachu were heading towards the PokeCenter when Team Rocket jumped out of nowhere, forcing us to engage in battle.

All my other Pokemon are in no fit shape to fight and are in need of healing. Hence why I was heading to the nearest PokeCenter.

Now I'm stuck in a battle with Jessie and James from Team Rocket.

"Hoho," Jessie snickered, "Getting tired already brat? The battle just barely started and your Pikachu already seems to be tired."

"Can't you guys just leave us alone once and for all?? This is getting really repetitive and we want to rest!" I retaliated, for once in my life not feeling like doing a battle.

"Pikaa!" Pikachu practically groaned in agreement.

"Never!" Jessie and James said in union, "Koffing, use sludge bomb!"

"Pikachu! Dodge the attack!" I panicked, not sure if Pikachu had the strength to dodge the oncoming attack.

Before the attack hit however, I heard a shout,

"Slowbro, use Surf!" And milliseconds later, a wave of water came and blocked Koffing's attack, saving Pikachu from taking damage.

"Whaa..." I stood, slack jawed at that for a second before turning around and seeing a man striding towards the battle. He looked a bit angry, his steps compacted with a bit of power with a Slowbro at his side with its usual unfocused expression.

"What's going on over here?! Don't you realize that there is an establishment right next to you? And why are you two," He points at Team Rocket, "Attacking this boy and his Pokemon? Cut him some slack and allow them to go to a Poke Center."

Jessie and James kind of stood dumbfounded that this man was telling them off, moreover that he was defending Ash whom they were pretty sure he didn't know.

The man turned towards me with a worried expression. While his back was turned away, Team Rocket slunk away into the shadows and escaped. I knew they'd be back soon but I was going to use this to my advantage.

"Hey kid, are you alright?" The man inquired.

I wanted to say yes, but I knew that I needed help.

"Honestly, no. I'm not. Can you help show me where the PokeCenter is?"

A soft smile broke on the man's face. "Of course I can. May I?" He said, pointing to my Pikachu.

"Yea, thanks a lot sir." I responded as he picked the tired Pikachu, it had fainted from exhaustion at some point, and the man cradled him gently in his arms.

"Let's go kid. By the way, my name is Theo, you?" The man, Theo, said as they started walking in a certain direction.

"My name is Ash, Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town." I said, feeling very grateful to Theo.

An hour later, I came out of the recovery room fully healed with my Pikachu in hand, who was also fully recovered, as were my other Pokemon.

I looked around the lobby for Theo, planning on thanking him again. When I found him, he was having a phone call.

I approached closer, not meaning to eavesdrop but catching part of the conversation.

"Relax Reyna, I'm fine....Yea, I know I left you, that was wrong of me, I'm really sorry. A-are you crying?! Rey! I'm so sorry! I'm going to be heading back now! I just had to deal with something, please don't worry." Theo exclaimed, looking very troubled as the call cut.

I decided to speak up then, "Uh, it everything alright?"

Theo looked over at me and sighed, running a hand through his hair.

"Yea, kind of. My friend was extremely worried 'cus I left out of nowhere, which is unlike me." He paused for a second, considering something while he looked at me holding my Pikachu (Pika!)

"How about you follow me back to the cafe? I can hook you and the rest of your Pokemon up with some food if you want."

"Really, I can get some food?" I said with a little bit too much gusto. I cleared my throat and rephrased.

"I mean, I don't really have any money on me. How would I be able to pay?"

Theo chuckled. "Don't worry about it, I'm the co-owner of the cafe! I need to head there anyway since Reyna is about to get a Machamp on me as punishment." Theo sighed, accepting his possible fate.

"Uh, your joking...right?" I queried, worried that he might get punished by this Reyna person because of me.

"I wish.. Let's just get going. You're ready, right?" He asked, putting his phone away.

"Yea, we can go now. Thanks Theo." I answered.

"No problem kid," He smiled, "Just happy to help."

We walked back to the shop, which I didn't really notice until now.

It looked really new and cozy. Giving soft vibes for a chill environment. Plush furniture dotting the store with Pokemon and other Trainers sitting and standing around, eating and chatting with one another.

Theo lead me towards the back, looking a bit nervous but keeping a smile on his face for my sake.

"Reyna? I'm hereeee...." He called into the kitchen area.

A figure came out of the shadows and approached them. An ominous feeling reverberated through the air as they came closer.

They suddenly came into the light, showing their figure. It was a woman, with brown hair, her bangs dyed pink. She has green eyes which were glaring at the two of them, mostly Theo.

I heard a strange, crackling sound coming from behind her, I backed away a bit, wondering if it was something dangerous. The woman didn't seem phased though, and stood with her arms crossed, looking at Theo.

"Where have you been?! I had to manage the cafe without you.. for an HOUR!" she exclaimed.

"I uh... Reyna, meet Ash." Theo gently grabbed me and brought me forward. I nervously waved, staring back at the woman, Reyna.

"The whole story is, I went out back to get some ingredients to restock when I heard some noises. Turns out, two adults I dubbed Team R had tagged-teamed Ash here. Once I had somewhat dealt with them, I took Ash and his Pikachu to the PokeCenter. That was where I was when you called. Sorry again." Theo explained, a truly remorseful look on his face.

Reyna sighed. "I'm not actually that angry, don't worry Theo. Just a bit annoyed that you left without any worry. I'm glad your both safe though." She unfolded her arms, a smile gathering on her face.

With the tension dispating in the room, I decided to ask a question.

"Um, Ms. Reyna... D-did you perhaps hear those noises from behind you?"

"Oh, you mean my Mimikyu?" She turned around and bent down, picking something up.

"Isn't it soo cute?" She squealed, showcasing a Mimikyu that had a orange bow on one of its ears.

"Uh... yea." I decided not to question her taste in Pokemon since everyone likes different things. Unfortunately, at that moment, both mine and Pikachu's stomachs rumbled in union. Reyna perked up from her cuddling of her Mimikyu at the noise.

"Are you hungry? Theo you should have told me!" She said as she placed down her Mimikyu and pulled me with her into the kitchen.

"Let's get you something to eat!" she exclaimed, already bustling about, preparing some food.

"Oh alright, thank you!" I said at the same time Pikachu said, "Pikkaaa!(Thank you!!)"

Theo watched from the doorframe, leaning on it with a smile on his face. His eyes never leaving Reyna's moving figure.
